No but this is a real thing. The right believes government serves a fundamentally different purpose from what the left believes.

THEY DO NOT BELIEVE THE GOVERNMENT EXISTS TO HELP PEOPLE.

They believe the government exists to maintain order. And that's it. They rage against the government legalizing weed and protecting trans people because those are things that break down the social order.

Funding schools means more people question the order, more people want to destroy it.

In their mind the government LITERALLY DOES NOT OWE ITS TAXPAYERS ANYTHING. Society is a game of social darwinism. The strong clamber to the top while the weak stumble and struggle. That is the way they believe it is supposed to be. Welfare programs and public services punch massive holes in the fine filters that pick out the wheat from the chaff. The ONLY thing the government should do is make sure people stay in their place. Politicians are not, to the right, public servants. They are strongmen who keep the people in line. They are not to interfere in the workings of great men.

They have a fundamentally different and incompatible view of what government is for. And they are as baffled by the notion that governments shouls help people as you are by the notion that they shouldn't.

I found a great resource that I could use to make clothing products that everyone needs, so I did what comes naturally and started chopping down the trees and made lots of money. But this little orange guy doesn’t like me chopping down trees and becoming successful. He keeps trying to find ways to stop me because he “speaks for the trees” but that’s whackery because trees can’t consent! He’s preventing my innovation and my customers from purchasing. AITA?
