Post 11- Distribution
In-N-Out as we all know is primarily located on the West Coast. The reason for this is because they have an Exclusive Distribution on where they buy their Products. According to Reader’s Digest they explain that “the company refuses to sell frozen patties to ensure that customers are only eating the highest-quality meat, that’s why all In-N-Out restaurant locations are within 300 miles of In-N-Out’s patty-making facilities”. However, In-N-Out has released a statement that they would be opening a location in Tennessee, which would be advancing their place utility.
Since the Owner of the Company is the granddaughter of the founders Harry and Esther Synder resides in California, the Supply Chain flows easily with managing the company’s stores with the corporate office.
Because In-N-Out sells mainly to consumers it is also considered a Retail. The In-N-Out store would be a way how the company retails since they sell merchandise.

Post 10- Trends/Pricing
Some Trends that are going on in the market place are for example are the "2 for $3.99" that McDonald's has to offer. With the company In-N-Out they don't offer specials like those because their pricing is already reasonable to begin with. According to Business Insider who did a comparison on Five Guys and In-N-Out goes on to explain that when he ordered at In-N-Out the total amount for meal of a double double animal style, animal style fries and a medium drink came out to the total of just over 10 dollars. The Convenience Product holds In-N-Out at a higher satisfaction than Five Guys where no meal options are available and your total for the same amount of food doubles at almost 20 dollars. The biggest trend that seems to be ongoing for In-N-Out is their secret menu. These Supplementary Services provide the public with their own personal experience when it comes to ordering their food. Though I believe we can all agree that the greatest Service that In-N-Out can provide is their Food Trucks! Not only do we get to eat their amazing food but have it entirely to yourselves when having them cater your special event. With all the evidence here it is easy to say that In-N-Out have unique ways keeping up with the modern times.

Post 8- Brand Detail
Tumblr media
In the article "In-N-Out Burger's Go-to-Market-Strategy As a Startup" written by Kai Sato, he explains how the company's Market was based on how more women were working and there was less time to cook at home. He wanted to provide an establishment where a meal would be quick on the go. Their Niche(or small market segment) were teenagers/hotrodders. Sato writes "Open until 1:00 AM., In-N-Out Burger became ground zero for Baldwin Park's restive teens. There the kids parked, played their radios, sang and danced". In-N-Out's brand thrives on their slogan "Quality You Can Taste" since the company makes it their mission to always use never frozen and always fresh ingredients. This statement goes on to explain their Product Differentiation since many of their competitors are those who use frozen ingredients.
Sato also describes how the Geodemographic Segmentation of the company came into play when in the 1960's surfing exploded with popularity. By then In-N-Out had opened several locations by beaches and those of southern California where after a long morning of waves surfers packed their cars and headed to In-N-Out. He states, " Soon enough word spread among the hang-ten crowd and eventually ending up at In-N-Out became part of the surfing experience. The In-N-Out brand fits into the product mix because they easily fulfil the 4Ps. With their all fresh products, reasonable meal prices, the promotion of their company with popup shops and the hundreds of locations on the west coast.

Post 7-Packaging
We all know the famous In-N-Out Burger logo, from the red lettering, the neon yellow arrow and of course the palm trees. When you first see the logo you might think to yourself of how simple it is. However, much Planning went into the making of this logo. According to an article publishes by Logos World, they describe how "Not only do the bright colors attract attention but whet the appetite of potential customers". The article further explains that the infamous arrow "Points in the direction of the food but is also in a boomerang-shaped stating that customers always come back".
When it comes to Packaging, In-N-Out sure know how to put their own touch of home into their company. Some may be unaware but the company actually publishes Bible Verses on several of their product wrappings. Lynsi Syder, granddaughter of the founders of In-N-Out Harry and Esther Snyder, states in an interview from A Taste of Home that, "It's a family ran business, and this is a touch of family". Since Synder voices on the family's religious beliefs this would be an example of Content Marketing. Thanks to Social Media, like TikTok, you are able to view several videos of customers enjoying their "In Car" meal. One option to take your order is "Eat in Car", where you are presented with your food in an opened cardboard container and are provided with placemats so that you can enjoy your meal mess-free. With videos like theses it supply In-N-Out with Earned Media attention which benefits them with advertising since there are no televised commercials for the company.

Post 6-Competition
The major competitors of In-n-out are Five Guys and Shake Shack. As we all know In-n-out is primarily only located on the West Coast. The article that Serious Eats websites provides as to why these are In-n-out’s enemies. They state “On the other hand, Virginia’s Five Guys- which has been around since 1986- has seen crazy expansion in the last few years now boasting over 750 locations on both coasts”. However, Five Guys is very much of a Cash Cow corporation due to the fact that they do not give meal pricing only individual items which concludes with the consumer having to pay $20 for one meal. Same goes for Shake shack. With this information is safe to say that In-n-out has the Cost Competitive Advantage since they have always stayed true to their reasonable low prices. However, these competitors both are located around the globe allowing almost everyone to indulge in their food and the variety of products they sell, giving In-n-out last place in the Diversification department. Another website Business Insider give an in-depth comparison to the two companies of both Five Guys and In-n-out stating that “In-n-out took about 10 minuets for our order to be done but was worth the wait”. They then go on to say that “Upon arrival at Five Guys, felt l that it led me back to In-n-our with the stores same red and white tiles and 1950s diner vibe. But Five Guys seemed sad, the tables were mostly empty”. Towards the end of the article the author explains that both restaurants have room for improvement but that In-n-out won their hearts. Now it seems that with In-n-out they don’t leave room for Market Development due to their traditions however the liveliness of the atmosphere makes them #1.

Post 5 -Target Market
According to the article “From Coast to Coast: The Analytics Behind In-N-Out’s Move to the East” written by Jordan Bean it states that “In-n-Out operates 358 stores primarily located in the west coast”. This would be an example of the company’s Geographical strategy. Demographically, as of September of 2023, similarweb.com reveals in their website’s statistics section “in-n-out.com that 54.53% are male consumers and that 45.47% are female consumers. The data also shows that the largest group of visitors are those of 25-34 year olds. Their Target Market/Consumer are likely people that are on the move to/from work and home that want a quick convenient place to get an affordable meal. In-n-Out has been serving the public since the Baby Boomer era and still making delicious burgers to us Gen Z’ers.

Post 4- SWOT
After completing the research of In-n-out’s SWOT Analysis here is what I learned…
Strength- One if the biggest strengths the company has to offer is that it is a family-ran business. Unlike other fast food chains, In-n-out stays private to keep close to it’s company morals and not get manipulated into making the wrong decisions when it comes to sales.
Weakness- At In-n-out they don’t have exactly a marketing concept. They have no TV advertisement (except one that was made in the 80s) they only have radio advertisements. It is most popular by word of mouth. Which can either go good or bad depending on the customer.
Opportunities- According to the article by Case 48. Com it states “With the development of new technologies to assist the product/service production”. This could allow more time for team members to get other duties completed for the kitchen. For example those who have to work the fry station of chopping the potatoes into the fry shape they could be getting other work done rather than just standing and inserting potatoes into the chopper and pulling the lever.
Threats- With inflation on the rise it will have the company raise its prices and with that could cause backlash due to the fact that no one wants to pay 15$ for a burger meal.

Post 3-Strategy
Focusing on the Marketing Mix of the 4P’s (Price, Product, Promotion and place),In-n-out’s strategy seems to be beneficial to their company. Their prices vary from as little as $3-7 dollars for individual items, the freshness and high quality of their food products, to the promotions they provide with their catering food trucks and finally to the limited locations of their stores. With their Mission Statement being “Quality You Can Taste” the company proves that to be true by using only the freshest ingredients and never frozen products to ensure the customer’s satisfaction with the food. Now the Competitive Advantage that In-n-out has is their secret menu. While it’s not officially advertised it is widely known among loyal customers. With social media on the rise, many of In-n-out’s consumers post their personal orders featuring some of the secret menu options allowing it to become popular by word of mouth. Which provides the company with it’s Social Marketing Orientation because allowing customers to create their own twist on their food it turns ordering into a personal experience which makes the customer happy. Now In-n-out is still ran by the Snyder Family who first started the company. The granddaughter of Harry and Esther Snyder states that “we have no plans to franchise the company because it is not what my grandparents would want”. They believe franchising the company would lose the values that the family started when the business first opened. With staying only ran and marketed by the family it will allow them to have more Control over the future of the company.

Post 1- In N Out Burger
The brand I have decided to select for my business to feature is none other than the famous In N Out Burger. I chose to decide In N Out not only because I enjoy my share of a Double Double but because it is known to be one of the highest rated restaurant chains in the country. With the marketing frame work of the 4P’s which include Product, Price, Place and Promotion. Now product being their simple limited menu featuring the Double Double, Cheeseburger and Hamburger as well as their fries, fountain drinks and milkshakes available. Price ranging from as little to $3-7, to the fact that In N Out is only placed in 7 different states as they try to “avoid franchising” as it helps keep the brand tethered to their SoCal roots. To their clever promotions of food trucks.
Though I have known about In N Out my entire life as a proud southern california-er, I look forward to expanding the community of In N Out with the rest of the you.
