I really admire people who can stay attached to a character for so long (even if its on or off) I think that kinda dedication is so inspiring and cool. It's just endearing to just scroll through your old blogs and see your love for a character over the years. Okay that aside, does an archive of the persona artbooks still exist? Not sure which artbooks you mean, I'm sorry, I don't have an archive of them to my knowledge, just the manga and stuff. They might be up on the internet archive, I know a ton of artbooks are up on there.

I ripped the dub off of kissanime years ago, and a little more recently I used anime-raws masterlist on tumblr, but last I saw they'd been forced to take down their archives. I don't have the space in my drive to host the entire anime myself, I barely have enough for what I already have up, but I'd say your best bet is to find somewhere that supplies raws on tumblr or torrent from nyaa.se or some mirror site if it's still a thing these days.

While i understand why people don’t like yosuke I just can’t help but feel bad for his characterization and pretty much every other side character in the recent persona games.

They’re ultimately power fantasies for the player so they play up terrible aspects of the side characters to make them look dull in comparison to the protagonist (the male characters specifically to look like less of competition towards the attention of female characters which is a WHOLE OTHER conversation-) and it feels so jarring after more genuine moments of characterization.

I’m so tired of it. I feel like I can only stomach transformative fanworks about the series at this point. I guess most people would say to move on to other interests but I keep occasionally coming back to these characters cause despite everything they’re nostalgic. I guess I wanted them to actually grow with me.

Yeah, completely fair. I honestly still think nothing did Yosuke dirty more than Golden, but,,,,,, to me it feels like everyone ELSE is getting horrifically flanderized and Yosuke gets off easy most of the time. Can't really get much worse imo lmfao

It's still difficult to distance yourself from it, even if logically you know people are allowed to do and say as they please. Feels a bit like someone shittalking a friend lol.

But no worries abt filling my inbox, even if I'm not around much here atm i can most definitely understand this unique frustration, and no matter how many fandoms i cycle through, nothing makes me quite as upset as the back and forth about Yosuke ajdgjkshfv

hi. i just wanted to say thank you for liking yosuke so much, and in the way that you do. i just peeked at a stream of p4g bc i was thinking of him and it was like. no one was giving him a chance. i don't think he's owed one, and i get that he's not a sympathetic character to a lot of people but... it was just... like, when he was being sweet with nanako ppl were still acting like he was a one dimensional character. and when they had a chance to criticize him it was like they were relieved. idk. im probably a little too upset, i shouldn't be upset at all, he's fictional. it just felt like... he really had absolutely no one in his corner... anyway. i love him. i also love kanji. and i really love the meta you have here.

I'm glad you could find enjoyment in my posts! I feel the same way, it's always been incredibly frustrating to me, and has limited a lot of the stuff i feel i can enjoy in the fandom. It also happens to be why i frequently take long breaks from Persona.

I don't think it's entirely unreasonable to be upset about all of that, in my experience, the people who really love Yosuke also strongly relate to him, so it can sometimes feel like a personal attack when someone shits on him. I've definitely had to back away many times because I know I can be stubborn when it comes to Yosuke's characterization and the way people misinterpret his character; i feel that unfortunately because so many people have strong opinions on both sides about Yosuke's character, (many of us can relate to him, but plenty of people who dislike him have endured a real-life Junpei Yosuke) it's hard to have a calm and informed discussion when it's often so personal, and very easy to raise your hackles and fight when someone insults him. At the end of the day, people are entitled to their opinions even if they're wrong but I've found it's a lot more rewarding and worthwhile to try and curate the people you follow and interact with and all of the posts shared between you instead of getting into it because you saw a post that's just objectively fuckin' wrong.
