Brace yourselves, it’s about to get a little crazy in here.

Onew has been the constant force tugging at my heartstrings from the moment I first watched the MV for Lucifer. Why? Well…

He is so handsome it hurts. It is true that I have a thing for leaders, but Onew just has the ability to distract me from whatever I’m doing, no matter how important because he is the three things that are so very dangerous in a man

Enough about his visual. Let’s talk about Onew’s singing. As someone who studied singing for way too long, there are things that attract me about people’s voices. In SHINee, I really like the sound of Kibum’s falsetto, Jonghyun belts like no other, Minho has a really sweet timbre, and Taemin has a lot of power in his vowels (especially his ‘o’s, which is what I think makes his voice stand out but that’s a story for another time)…with Onew, as a fellow singer, you’re just like woooow fuck you because everything, everything about his voice is illegal. Not being able to hear his voice for months gave me a severe case of onewache (it’s no joke seriously) because he has the set of pipes that will just take you on the most beautiful sonorous journeys and it is almost effortless how he manages to just captivate you with the simplest set of notes. Whoever scouted Onew deserves all of the love in the world and a seat up there right next to big man jesus because for god’s sake his voice is so strong, yet so sweet, and so versatile. He’s just one of those people that were born to sing, and live to sing because it makes him so hilariously happy. Vocal nodules are really a force to be reckoned with and it’s something that can happen again if he doesn’t care for his voice properly, so I think that for now he’ll not be too ambitious and gather his strength for a bit longer so he can return and belt to his heart’s (and our heart’s) content and enchant us all with his incredibly powerful, honey-sweet voice soon. Even though my heart can’t take it, I’ll wait for you, leader-ssi! The point is Onew’s singing has literally brought me to tears. Several times. I cry about Onew a lot.

As a leader, Onew has a lot to carry on his shoulders. He’s the front of one of the most successful k-pop groups, and I’m certain that there have been no end to the kind of hardships he has to face and endure every day. He’s made a lot of mistakes in his long career, and has forgotten to take care of himself in hopes that he can better care for his members and their career because he’s just the sweetest fucking thing and doesn’t mind staying in and drink by himself while the others go out and have a good time because I don’t think he himself can believe how far he’s come, and how far he can still go. You can see him smiling with his fellow companymen and women, posing ridiculously for pictures, hugging everyone left right and center, just because this is the kind of person that he is: someone who will support you no matter what, be it in small ways or big ways. I mean standing on the sidelines at concerts, watching his members and cheering them on without being able to say a single word or even cough or sneeze takes a lot of strength, but he’ll go the extra 100 miles for his members and co-workers because they’re his family. I hope that he takes care of himself well and never stops smiling because the day that Lee Jinki stops smiling is the day that the sun burns out.
