The Outlander fandom...

is killing me. How greedy and annoying can a fandom be?

I’ve been in the Downton fandom for 6 years and it was nice and friendly. People were actually happy if they got interviews or pictures or if some of the cast tweeted. There never were conventions or fan events, just a little press tour in the summer and one in the winter and it was never questioned who was there. Someone was and fans were happy no matter who it was.

The Outlander fandom though…

no matter what the show, the stars or anyone does, they complain. It’s always all wrong!

The trailer is wrong (too much Frank!), the pictures are wrong (too much sex!), the interviews are wrong (Sam and Cait call shipping a fantazy gasp), if Sam and Cait flirt and tease each other it’s wrong (the mother hens chide Sam on twitter it could be “misread”), if they’re silent on twitter it’s wrong, if Sam tweets about MPC it’s wrong, because it is “boring”, if Sam goes to a convention or to Austriala it’s wrong, because “why isn’t Caitriona going, too?!!”

Give them a break, people! Caitriona has worked her arse off for 9 months now and she might just be tired and in need of a vacation. Why aren’t people happy that Sam is willing to fly around the world? Is it never enough??

Newsflash: They don’t owe us anything but a good show. Nothing else! We can watch it or we can leave it. All those interviews and funny little chats and their tweets and appearances on a convention is just because they’re nice people. PR for the show gets divided to lift the workload for the actors. There will be some events where both leading stars will be, but not all. It’s just how things work! Also Sam seems to enjoy such things more than Caitiriona, so he will probably be willing to do more than she does and I bet she’s very grateful that he does!

I really love the show, I adore Sam and Caitriona, but the fandom is clearly the worst I’ve ever seen.
