And it's not my fault that you've been away for so long. It's not like I've been hiding away, like you seem to think Diamond's doing. Anyway, Empoleon's been fine, if not a bit fidgety. She hasn't participated in a battle recently, so I'm sure that she's been aching to do something.. and that sounds perfect for that.

[Platina's mouth opens a little in surprise as he corrects himself, and she closes it a second after, composing herself.] I didn't even think that, Pearl, honestly. I'll try my best to be there on time, just for you. [She didn't even consider that there could be under linings in what she said and instead tried to ignore the fact that, well, actually, Pearl's suggestion could have sounded like a date.]

Thirty times? Don't you think that's a little much? Maybe he's just fallen asleep.. so you should try again later. If he's still not picking up then, well, we can team up and go look for him.

Well it’s not my fault that you’ve been away for so long. What have you been doing anyways? How’s Empoleon doing? I know Chimhiko’s missed the others a lot. It’d be nice to go to the Pokemon Park or something one day and let ‘em all play around!

[Noticing what he had said, his face turns red as he jumps back.]

T-That wasn’t me asking for a date or anything! I just have the best intentions for my Pokemon right now, and thought that’d be best. So you better show up!

[He clears his throat.]

Well, duh! I’ve called him thirty times in the last ten minutes and he won’t pick up! Any more ideas?

I'll try my best. [Rolling her eyes, she hesitates for a moment as she considers what he said next.

It was true. Making silly jokes was Dia and Pearl's job, but it wasn't as if she was humorless, was she? Besides.. Since they had been absent from her side for so long, she found herself doing things to remind herself of them, even if they were silly. Maybe she just hadn't caught herself in time before she let a teasing sentence leave her mouth.] Well, I suppose since I haven't been around you two, I keep forgetting that.

A conspiracy? [Raising an eyebrow, she crosses her arms over her chest as she lets that settle, not even sure how to correct him on that one.] Have you tried calling him?

Hah! Do me a favor and get that second opinion for me, would ya?

[He shrugs.]

Unnaturally quiet? No, I don't think so. Maybe we can get a second opinion someday, but I'm almost positive that I'm not the one with the unnatural tone of voice.

[When his voice is raised again, Platina blinks. She's almost surprised, even though she tells herself she shouldn't be. It was just that it had been a while since she has really got to talk to him in person.] Oh, calm down, will you? [This time, she did actually let a smile grace her lips.] I said I was only kidding. When was the last time you checked?! Forever ago?! Last time I checked, you were a decent trainer who didn’t need our help with anything! You took down most of the Frontier Brains without even having me and Dia there with you! Maybe now you could be a proper tour guide for us for being such great comedians, heh.

Really? I'm flattered, then. It seems that my definition of a low voice and yours are two separate things..

[Even though she wasn't completely familiar with this girl who looked so similar to her, she nodded in agreement.] It's not that advanced. People look like each other all the time and it has nothing to do with scientific studies. It's very normal, actually.

"Maybe so." She chose to remain standing and directed her own attention out to the Pokemon. It was nice to see them frolicking about and having a good time with no worries in the world. Platina really enjoyed being in a Pokemon's company, as most trainers did, and would probably choose their happiness over her own if given the choice. It might have been a little too selfless, but it was necessary. After all, when taking on the responsibility of capturing and owning your own Pokemon, you needed to make sure they were happy above all else.

Platinum decided to leave the name situation be, since she didn't want it to turn into a problem or argument. Even if it wasn't the desired nickname, she knew that it would be better to not say anything else about it.

"Serious?" Suddenly her thoughts flashed to Diamond and Pearl. Were they truly as serious as she came off as? No, no way. Even if Pearl did constantly scold Diamond, she wouldn't really call him completely serious. "Ah, no, no. Are all Johto natives as talkative as you?" Platina made her tone lighter when she spoke the last question, not wanting it to come off as rude because it wasn't intended to be. She was used to being around talkative people and she liked it. It reminded her of her two best friends, who she missed every time she was away from them.

Platina's taste for knowledge was left unsatisfied by his answer, but she knew there was no help for it. If he didn't know, he didn't know, so she knew better than to persist. The dark-haired girl almost wanted to insist that she told him what the Pokemon was when it did hatch, but she figured that would be a bit too straight forward. He could get scared off or something silly like that, her mind told her.

Having not said anything else, she realized that a silence had fallen between the two of them and finally shrugged lightly. Her gaze trailed from the Growlithe she had been watching earlier and back to Gold, pondering what to say.

"..So," she finally managed, "what are those radio shows about, anyway? I figure that I can assume what Professor Oak's would be like, but are there others? Who's the 'Miss Mary' you mentioned?" Platina held herself back from asking anymore questions, not wanting to inquire too much too soon.

She looks lost at over 70% of his words. He almost looks at her with pity when she says she hasn’t even heard of any radio shows— but her aloofness puts him off. What was she, too good for common entertainment?

He puts it aside, commenting that she ought to take time out of her schedule to do so. Plopping his bottom down onto the grass, he sits cross legged again, the egg snuggled up in his lap as he answers.

“Yeah, I think so! Y’know, how that saying goes, there’s no place like home…” Gold laughs, nostalgic, but the dreamy look on his face is quick to change and his features easily flood over with annoyance again as she answers. He somehow thinks this would be a much more pleasant conversation if she just wouldn’t open her snooty little mouth at all.

“I think I’ll stick with ‘Little Miss,’ thanks,” he says, waving a hand at her, as if to shoo off her words. “Are all Sinnoh folk as… serious as you?”

“And uh…Well, I guess that’s what fun about eggs! You never know what’s gonna come out, haha…” (his laugh here is half hearted) “The lady didn’t tell me which of my pokemon this little guy was found nearby!” He pets the shell fondly and presses his mouth to it as he looks out at the daycare pokemon out at play.

Maybe I should do that, too. It would be really pleasant to be able to explore a new place.

It's not a problem. Sunny for winter? That's a little strange -- here in Sinnoh, it's cold so often.. but you know that, don't you? I haven't actually heard too much about the Gym Leaders in Hoenn.. but I'm sure that you'll be able to face them easily!

[Giggles and her cheeks turn pink upon hearing the compliment]. T-thank you Miss Platinium. It’s been very nice and sunny for winter. I’m used to it being really really cold but this is kind of neat. I’m just waiting for a few gym leaders to respond to my challenges. I-I’m really anxious to do my best with my Pokemon.
