I really think that it’s important to remember @staff are trying to phase out custom blogs! Literally the most fun and interesting part of Tumblr and a very awesome selling point of Tumblr’s entire model.

That’s part of their whole ‘Tumblr’s not easy to use’ bullshit. They’ve been working at it for months now, you can’t even access someone’s custom blog from mobile anymore and like not even on the mobile website.

So yeah that theme and those pages you worked so hard to make unique and interesting? The webcomic hosted on Tumblr in such a way that it basically has it’s own website? The ARCHIVE of your blog that you can pretty much only access from a button on your custom blog? It’ll all go down the gutter if we don’t yell until our voices go hoarse.

This is a BLOGGING website the point of the website is THE BLOGS! I didn’t work hard to maintain my blog and keep the pages on it looking pretty for some hack at RND to decide it needs to go to make way for their ‘definitely not-Twitter’ ideal website. I swear to god the loss of our custom blogs will be the exact last straw for me and I WILL leave.

Some days, it feels like enjoying Destiny, flaws and all, is wrong.

It feels like if you don't have ANYTHING negative to say about the game, you're wrong.

God forbid if it's something that is universally hated in the community, like Gambit or Lightfall.

"Why do you like [insert character]? They're poorly written." I like how they're written, and it works with how Destiny is telling it's story.

"The story is a jumbled mess." And? You won't be spoonfed everything in life, even in games. And it works for this story to be not spoonfed everything. It leaves you puzzling, and that's a good thing.

"[Game mode] is dumb! How the hell can you play it so much?" It's fun and engaging. It may not be to you, but it is to me, what's the problem with that?

Every day, I ask myself why I keep playing Destiny. And the answer is simple: I like the game.

And every day, I feel like that answer is the wrong thing to say and believe. That I HAVE to have something I don't like about it. And I don't have anything about Destiny I don't like.

Is it that hard to ask for people to just enjoy a game and let it's developers work? Yes. Apparently it is. And I'm sorry for expecting better out of this community.

Okay I'll shut up now.

thinking about the way Destiny shows obsession.

we have so many examples of it in the lore. Clovis Bray, Eramis, Calus, now Maya Sundaresh, and earleir even Osiris. The Osmium siblings, too. All of them dipping into the darkness in search of salvation and immortality, and dooming themselves. Like a monkey's paw.

Here, have your immortality, but to your senses it will be perverted and dangerous, and the Traveler will reclaim it anyway if it can. Have your salvation in the shape of revenge, but it won't matter, because you are just a pawn. Have your riches and loyalty, but it will not matter, because looking back at you are empty husks.

And then they all, or almost all, die. And everyone else is left to fix it, but maybe they can't.

Not only is it about obsession, it's about the way it directly affects the people around said people. Exos, other Eliksni, the Cabal, now the whole of Neomuni and more. It's like rolling waves, far into the future.

And even more so, that salvation and immortality and favour they are looking for is also everything the Traveler grants. But also as a monkey's paw with... maybe possibly better outcomes? Not sure.

IDK, but it's interesting to me how much Destiny puts these types of characters on the forefront of storytelling, and it IS very compelling. Listening to Chioma Esi's logs put a lot of things into perspective imo.

Laziness

Sometimes all that she needs is a moment of silence, of pure laziness, distant from everything that surrounds her frenetic routine. Most of times, she finds shelter in the ice desert Europan camp, some fewer times, it’s the vast void of space as her ship floats in orbit…

…and some even fewer times, it’s her home, in the Last City.

The Solstice Festival would soon come, giving common people and Guardians a reason to celebrate and have hope for better days — even if they seem darker than usual since the Traveler’s parting —, and the preparations for it roll in the city. The chirp and flaps from birds crossing the sky could be heard if they flew close from her apartment, and once in a while she could hear the voices from her neighbors.

Lying down on her bed, staring at the white ceiling and listening to the City’s life from the window. These have been her past few days since the last threat against Sol was pushed away and fragile peace returned. The weight of her own body feels strange without her armor, and her joints creaked with any movement, and whatever remaining of attention that she has in that state is listening the sounds from the window.

There, she finds peace, even if for just a fleeting moment.

Because when she lets her mind wander, she’s brought back to action, disturbed by memories and disfigured sensations imprinted in her system.

The blood of enemies in her hands, of allies, and her own gushing out from her limbs. Violent crashes against her body, the living sensation of skin and bones being torn apart, the image of maimed bodies regardless of which side they were from, the deafening song chanted by shooting rifles and machine guns, the fitting heaviness of the Lament in her hands, the slithering worms in her husk feeding from her brain, the sight of a black tower, the judgement of countless empty eyes watching, the lack of purpose— A sharp breathing.

And she’s back to her bed, to the eerie peace her life was never made for.

And she realizes that maybe — and just maybe — she’s just tired.
