Keep in mind while all this chaos is going on regarding a Beast being on the loose and already have killing two people, the mansion is filled with all sorts of insects, fairies, and Mors. Abnormally large caterpillars can be seen snacking on all of the food- though over all they seem rather harmless, even with the way that they talk. The forest creepy crawlies are simply having their own fun, having been brought in by the “Fairy King” himself after all. Also, if you recall what happened last year you may want to avoid the wine- who knows if it’s laced with his sleeping magic again.

Their head slightly tilted, a smug smile on their face. They could just use their Mystic Eyes to learn about what hid behind that smile of his, but Judgement already had a pretty good idea of what they were looking at. Pretenders were… an interesting breed, to put it mildly. Normally they would use much more colorful language to describe such a thing, but they were trying to keep up appearances, after all. 

“So, the faerie queen asked you to find me, hm?” What a curious development. Here they thought Vivian would mercilessly hunt them, not even stopping in her path for friends. Color them surprised, but it wasn’t like it changed anything. Their goal was to eliminate Chaldea altogether, and that included the faerie queen and this abomination of insects that stood before them.

“I wonder what you are going to do with this information.”

' Oh, did you not hear me? ' He'd ask with a tilt of the head. One could assume that with the information given to find this beast that he would eliminate them within an instant under the Fae's words. But that didn't suit the pretender. After all, they both were the same in wanting to destroy something. While his smile would usually be smug would he just smile so innocently and playfully as he questioned the beast. ‘ I’m not a fan of fighting, but... ‘ Lips pursed as he pondered his next words. This was a beast before him, a creature who could easily see what was behind that painted on smile of his - there was truly no use in playing pretend around them. ‘ Well, let’s just say there’s something else I have in mind while attending this Gala. ‘ Oberon simply couldn’t reveal his true appearance around Gala goers after what happened last year, oh no! Especially not after hearing that Lady Vivian had ramped up security this year. But with this beast around, there was a way to still cause chaos and destruction while still hiding his facade. ‘ I’m certain you’re not foolish enough not to see past me! ‘

auaghghg [drapes myself over a victorian reclining couch and delicately places a hand over my face] in the quest to unlock oberon’s ascensions you fight a shadow servant of his first ascension with a unique skillset and you are to assume that this is the real oberon as opposed to the fake vortigern simply using the name but the real thing is a liar too. he lies about what skills he’s using, he lies about the status effects he puts on you. there is no real oberon! the closest it gets is a shadow with the name of “empty husk”. you’re not exposing vortigern as fake by meeting the person he’s impersonating, you’re being shown that “oberon” is an inherently fake identity to begin with. everyone who says they’re oberon is lying, even and especially if they really are oberon.

Though the Lady of the Lake whom was the host of the Gala knew who he was, knew that his facade of being the Fairy King was nothing but a mask of his, did he still mask himself in public. Sure he was surrounded by the incests and faries that came to adore him during his birth, but not everyone attending the Gala knew exactly who he was. Not everyone was there to see the truth behind that gentle smile of his- not everyone was aware that he was too a threat to humanity. A chuckle passed his lips, not seeming to seem angered at the beast at all, yet he also didn’t make any sudden movements to give them any ideas. ‘ A shame Lady Vivian asked for me to find you myself. I’m not too much of a fan of fighting, you see. ‘

It seemed like this year at the Gala there was no Magus in sight. Even with the Caster’s terrible clairvoyance, unable to sense him, was he ultimately the one who caused his downfall last year after trying to have some fun. And it already seemed like there was word of a beast roaming the manor’s halls of this year’s Gala. The Pretender hear murmurs about it, about how a death already happened. If he were to do anything now, no matter what the rules were in tact this year, it wouldn’t be any worse than what already happened right?  After all the security here must already have their hands full with tracking down that beast!  Upon the Pretender’s entrance would he be accompanied by thick dark purple smoke, spores that seemed to be from the local Mors; aswell as his usual vermin of moths and insects, and of course, his large, rathe friendly caterpillars. Alright Avalon, ready for round two?
