her memories continue to serve her, clear as day, grin staying on her lips as she pushes her wheelchair, the sticks she gathered happily resting on her lap as she reminisces aloud.

     ❝ bruce let us out in the courtyard, while we waited for alfred to finish making cookies. you could smell them all the way from the kitchen. made us impatient. ❞ she watches him mold the snowman’s torso, before she begins placing the stick-arms on its sides. ❝ we competed over who made the best snowman, then we had a snowball fight— almost hit bruce in the face. ❞ 

a few chuckles, before she presses on some buttons on their snowman’s stomach, and for his little eyes.

      ❝ it was just the two of us, then. but now … ❞ barbara looks out to the gardens, watching as the others had their fun. stephanie throwing snowballs at tim, cassandra and damian standing at bruce’s side. and still, the ever familiar scent of alfred’s pastries. ❝ all sorts of people are here. friends, family. ❞

she wraps a scarf around its neck, before turning back to her old friend.
