Evaluation 2
Reflecting on the past few months of this module, the exploration of promotion and research through this module I visited multiple online galleries to support my findings, I looked at mostly how these artists displayed their work within the space and how they have chosen to promote their work, I was amazed by how accessible to see the work within a virtual tour and how close up I could get to through a screen.
I decided to try uploading work to my art instagram again. It has been a while since I did this, but I feel it’s important for an artist to use social media as it’s a great way to show your portfolio and market yourself without a cost to it, as it’s free. Instagram is the most popular/wellknown platform and when making an account, Instagram gives the option to make it a business account, which gives you different aspects than a normal account, giving you insights into your post, and likes and comments. It also gives the option to boost your post, this you do have to pay for. But this will plaster your page/post everywhere like a billboard. Also you can connect your Instagram to your facebook page which will help promote my work further and to different audiences.
Whilst all the struggles I’ve faced during promotion and being unable to constantly be in for the group meetings, organising and planning for the group show, I think the outcome was still a success. With Rhianna and Andy making the poster for our show and round table, and with others distributing these posters was a key importance to gain attention, tell the information and what to expect. The round table I felt was also successful, we decided as a group we would have it like an open conversation and bring up topics. These topics got introduced as paper aeroplanes and on them were statements or questions, which then brought up the new conversation, where people can put different ideas and opinions to the topic.
From exhibiting on the test site, it has helped me prepare for our degree show. During the test site I put up only the photographs, but from this, it’s made me rethink. Instead of pinning on the wall, I decided on pinning from the wall with extended pins. Going from having a background, to just having tracing paper and the biggest part, having more than just the images in the space. Now for the degree show I have now produced multiple different mixed media works. I will be displaying the images on one wall, displaying different and more images, building my own light box which will have the pile of words that are mixed from cards, letters and lists, the actual photo box and clothes of my grandmother, and now even thinking of using a projector, projecting work that plays with the light setting of the space.
Overall, I have gained new skills and a deeper knowledge of how to promote myself as an artist, opportunities as an artist and displaying artwork. Even though I wasn’t able to physically visit galleries, virtual ones gave me an opportunity to rethink looking at a space in all different angles and analysing how the work and artist is promoted.

Degree Show Business Cards
These are the degree show business cards I’ve came up with. I am still unsure which one to use still.
Having the word Absents I feel sums up the works as a whole. All my work is about the subtraction from, a fire- to within the work. Every piece of work has had subtraction towards them and absent feels like a connection to how I see the work and the situation. The subheading again just sums up what the work is about, I feel like its a statement, the audience will gain something from it, it tells what it is.
Having my name below is to obviously to say whos work this is and having my instagram account name for people to visit my instagram.

Online Exhibit- Billy Zane
Billy Zane: ACTION! This exhibition is based on the Hollywood verb ACTION, which became a starting point for Zane’s collection of works. The work is based on the motion of the aftermath of saying ACTION, once said, comes flowing out. Regardless of preparation, the artist just let the work flow into its self. The cavas informs the artist to what happeneds next, rather than the artist being in control.
- I really took an interest in these works, one being about the tester of the materials within the works, but mostly how the artist utilised the different materials as a collective rather than separate works, which allows the works, work together when exhibited.

Artist Statement
In the aftermath of flames, I find the piercing effect of love and loss. Objects once cherished, now are gone, that have evoked memories both bittersweet and sorrowful. The house, once a sanctuary of shared moments, now stands as a testament to fragility. Yet, admits the ashes, love endured, transcending the physicality of possessions. It is in rebuilding and having nothing is where the true essences of love and loss is revealed. Through the ashes has taught us that we need to learn to treasure memories, objects and people we truly love the most.

Degree Show Proposal
For the Degree Show Exhibition, I will be putting up various types of work spread over three surfaces and put together to hopefully depict the theme of love and loss of things after my grandmother's house fire. With the work of mixed media created to make people really look at the work to fully understand, this proposes a juxtaposition and contrasting as the work feels literal to myself. After further experimentation, there will be three main works, but added objects/work will be where I do some trial and error. (SEE SKETCHES BELOW)
I will need: Two walls and next to a plug.
idea 1: I will need two walls and next to a plug. The two main works that will be displayed will be the burnt photographs. They will either have a background behind them or it will be just tracing paper ( each photograph will be A5 size and x10 of them)The other main work will be the mixed media stained paper piece (2m x 3m). I am thinking about pinning the two wall pieces with extended pins, so that it comes off the wall and casts a shadow. Which will bring me onto with lighting, I would like to either move around the lights to emulate the shadow casting, another option is to bring my own lights (BATTERY POWERED) if I can't move the college lights. With the plinth, I will be building my own light box and adding the sculpture on top. This sculpture is made out of hot glue, which means I will have to have a light in the light box that doesn’t project heat. They will be LED lights. In this idea, there would be surrounding objects such as, the photo box we collected from the fire, clothes my grandmother was wearing and printed photographs of the fire. If it feels too cluttered that's when trial and error comes in.
Idea 2: this other idea comes as an option if final work isn’t finished towards the deadline. I would still use the two walls and plinth. I would still have the burnt photographs pinned on one wall and on the other wall, if the work I plan doesn’t get finished, I will pin up prints of the photographs I gathered after the fire. I would still have my word sculpture, but if not getting finished I would just lay the words.
Type of Space and Assistance- the space I have in mind is well-lit, to be able to cast those shadows. I will not need help with any specialised technical assistance, however I will need assistance with pinning these pins in the wall and with the lights, as I can't climb ladders

Instal for Test Site
For my test site, I wanted to test an idea I had for the degree show and display digitally changed photographs of my grandmother and myself. I wanted to see if either having a background on them? Or not? Should they be directly on the wall? Or coming off? Should it be tracing paper or normal printed paper? Etc
This guided me into what I now want to display in the degree show, as originally I did think of only having photographs but now I want more within the space.
The show was a success, we had people from different classes and years groups. We started off introducing ourselves and our work to the group. We then went on to the paper aeroplanes. These paper aeroplanes had question/statements within them, that would then start up a conversations, bring up different viewpoints and opinions on that subject. This was a grate way for us to talk to the ones outside our class.

Test Site Preparation
One of the jobs as apart of our group tasks was to create a poster, Rhianna was appointed this task and created a poster for our test site. With the help of our group chat we were able to come see the poster, make any changes and come to an agreement of the of the final. The poster is a grate aspect as it tells all the information needed. Whose work is there, when to be there and what to expect.
Andy made up a poster about our round table, where we asked other people from different classes, other creative industries and different year groups. It gives out where to be, when and what will take place within the round table.
Planning out where each of us will be placing our work gave us a good idea of how the space will feel, plus a map for people to see who’s work is who’s.
As apart of our round table, we decided to have ice breaker questions to start up conversations and bring different ideas to the table.
This is the posters getting distributed around the college to get people to visit the exhibition and to our round table
As a group we decided as well having our own work/ business cards, we would each have stickers of our work that the viewers can take away with them.

Evaluation 1 self-promotion
Following the launch of the promotion module, I intended to use a self-promoting plan to broaden promotional techniques and skills. This approach, which entails research and talks, has enabled me to advance my knowledge, abilities and skill set of self-promotion as an artist.
After starting this research series, social media was one of the promotion methods that had an impact. Social media, particularly Instagram, is a fantastic platform for obtaining online presents and a great starting tool for self-promotion. Despite being a useful tool, there are certain aspects to learn and know about. Instagram is more than just a place to upload photos and suddenly become a well-known artist. There’s a need to become knowledgeable about Instagram's algorithm, to use appropriate hashtags, post at the appropriate popular time and post frequently to give the impression that you are engaged on a daily basis. Although this can be overwhelming, this platform can create opportunities and increase artist networking.
Furthermore, from social media, joining art sites or organisations on social media is also another great way to get involved. It’s an opportunity to discover new artists, interact with other artists' work, pick up and learn new methods and techniques, and be a part of the community. This is also a better chance and insight inside to the art community can be found on these groups/pages, such as competitions, funding opportunities and exhibitions.
Group-promotion
As a class we were divided into two different groups as a class, and the task assigned to each group was to create planning and promotion methods for our test site exhibition. We have been holding meetings as a group either once a week, which has allowed us to assign and select tasks that we all felt were appropriate individually or as a group. These activities included developing a poster, distributing it, documenting and uploading our group meeting notes, organising a group padlet, informing people about our exhibition and getting prepared for the round table and exhibition.
However, because of family issues, I was unable to attend some of these meetings and had to make up for that. Nevertheless, with the support of my group, the padlet updates and our group chat, I managed to stay on top of the project. As for the task, I stuck to more collaborative/group ones as they allowed me to contribute even when not being there and still help the group with them.
Furthermore, through the help of our meetings, we had the option to decide and talk about how our round table should be planned out. We figured out it was best to begin with presenting ourselves and our work and afterwards start our round table discussion. We choose, to loosen things up we consider having questions as paper aeroplanes to start up point conversation, ever person would pick and toss to another person and from that point the subject would be about that topic, we thought this was the best as it allows the opportunity for people to have an opinion and open perspectives on the topic.
