headcanon // jasper

when alice had her first vision of jasper, she was not immediately in love. she was wildly curious. who wouldn’t be? but she was all but a stranger to the world. without a single memory. only a name essentially given to her by a stranger, regardless of how right that name felt. the more visions that came the more drawn in she felt. very much in love with the idea of him.

her visions give her a picture without much context. they can’t make her feel something. so in regards to jasper she couldn’t feel what may lay between them. same with the cullens really. she could see them, and grow a fondness in the potential family she saw in them, but always accepted that any of these people could reject her. or that the connection these visions implied could be broken by an choice changed.

so when she finally comes to him it’s not with a heart full of love, it’s with pure curiosity and the hope that he’ll give her the chance to see where this may go. she’s more than open to the possibility that her visions could be wrong and they’re not as destined for anything as she may believe and even hope. so when he does choose to give her the chance, she’s elated and really it doesn’t take her as long to fall for him as maybe it should, but they still are able to come to it naturally. to build it onto a solid and safe foundation that they made together.

the following prompts were taken from the novel deathless by catherynne m. valente, an american novelist & poet. the novel was loosely based on the tale of koschei the deathless, incorporating other elements of russian mythology, & setting it against the backdrop of the russian revolution. feel free to change the pronouns / prompts as you see fit, but be warned – below the cut, it’s quite long !
