We got more Aruani food this chapter with Mikasa being all “You better be good to my son because he really likes you and deserves the world.” And then they leave and it’s the angstiest goodbye I’ve ever seen and I’m like “Annie you gotta survive so you can be with your cute new bf!” 😭

not gonna lie my heart mush as hell here when annie was talking about the other risking their lives for the sake of their loved ones.

what’s makes this even softer is when her focus is on armin and saying ‘for my last moments, i want to keep it peaceful... for once’

can’t help but think mikasa and annie feel for one another in a way here—

don’t even talk to me about their goodbye. it’s so bittersweet like gosh your lives are at stake and this might be your last final goodbyes to one another when you just got each other back. — that alone is scary enough.

Once again it’s time to appreciate Isayama’s art development

Now that is confirmed that Armin likes Annie…imagine how hard it was for him to betray her back then… it all makes sense now

This aru///Ani moment is so out of context and absolutely cringe that I almost throw up. Anything about that shojuo-like interaction barely makes sense and I can’t believe people claim that behind it there has always been a great building up. I’m disappointed but still hoping that Armin might be acting out of Bert’s influence. Also, Annie blushing is so damn OOC...

Okay So, I just got done reading the chapter and there’s alot I want to say about it.

First off, while I don’t particularly ship aruani, far be it from me to stop people who do ship aruani be happy from this chapter for seeing their ship interact like this. I know that if it were the other way around and we saw some ereannie moments, we’d be over the moon about it like aruani shippers.

Ship what you want and don’t be ashamed about it. That’s me main motto that i still believe in today. My thoughts are purely my own and I am in no way trying to deter any one from shipping what they want or tell them that what they are shipping is wrong.

So with that out of the way, heres my thoughts on the scene between Armin and Annie.

I think it’s important to understand Annie’s mindset these past few chapters and how that could explain her behavior in chapter 130. She was just told flat out that her father will die regardless of her actions going forward and that there’s absolutely nothing she can do about it.

She’s not only physically but also emotionally exhausted. Her entire motivation for going forward was just stripped away from her in an instant. This is probably the most vulnerable we’ve seen Annie and I think it def shows in this chapter. 

When you’ve hit your lowest point, the walls that you’ve built up for so long will gradually come crashing down, and you’ll find yourself more open and cling to anything that can remind you that you aren’t alone. To me this really does explain Annie’s behavior in chapter 131 and why she’s suddenly becoming so open with Armin, and while I don’t believe this is indicative of her having any romantic feelings for him, to me it makes sense considering her character.

Which is why I don’t think its so out of character for her to suddenly blush when Armin makes the implication that he visited her because he was interested in her.

To me, this just seemed like an emotionally vulnerable and awkward girl being unable to process the notion that someone may actually be interested in her. We also have to rememeber that Annie doesn’t have that high of an opinion of her self when it comes to being charming or attractive

This is the same girl who for the longest time didn’t realize that Bertholdt had feelings for her, or if she did realize then showed no signs of reciprocating those same feelings in return. If someone tells you that they like you, and you have absolutely no experience when it comes to romance or of your looks and charms, the obvious reaction is one that Annie displayed, even if you don’t feel the same way as the other person making that kind of confession.

So in short, the way I’m interpreting this moment with Annie and Armin is that of a girl being so emotionally distraught and vulnerable that she is clinging to whatever form of attachment she can hold on to and is awkward as hell as the indication that a boy might like her, even though she might not feel the same way. This is accompanying with how before this we’ve never really seen Annie show any interest in Armin in canon when it came to being romantically interested or of that kind of sort.

Again, I am not trying to detract shippers from shipping what they want and this is just my opinion, and this is just my interpretation of this scene. If you strongly disagree than more power to you. I just wanted to get my thoughts out of the way in case people were interested.
