god, the stereotype Useless Man Is Shit At Cooking is tempting, but I think he’s good specifically with stuff that comes in cans and boxes. the aperture-brand shelf-stable pantry is all you need to survive a cozy nuclear winter. "good" might be a stretch, but he can make respectable meals out of canned meat and canned bread and powdered milk and vegetables that haven't seen sunlight since the eisenhower administration. he's not impressing anybody pre-apocalypse, but if the world has ended and you're getting sick of plain old BEANS, he's your guy.
