“Experimentation and being put in danger myself,” he instructed, marveled by how fast she got the concept.
“How did you learn about this, Professor?” She asks and tries the same with a different with her own magic, pleased by the near instant results.

“In the case of vampires, you can flick a single seed into their chest. Their senses are strong, but not strong enough to catch them unless they’re paying attention. You then use your magic to instantly grow the seed into a dangerous enough state,” he paused, demonstrating the seed’s growth until it forced into a shape of a stake, “instant damage.”
“They are arrogant, because they believe their physical capabilities are the end all, be all.”
“I wanna see.” She says, gazing to the container with complete interest. At his words on vampires, she scowls a bit. “They are quite arrogant for being trivial and rudimentary.” She recalls the vampire called Amari. Lyndon is quite kind, but she doesn’t like how he figures that she can’t take care of herself.

“Why, yes, of course. My personal favorite is one using a simple thing we have,” he pulled out a small container, inside were a few seeds. “These are effective in taking down any of these creatures around us.”
“And vampires on the bottom, due to them being rudimentary and not having access to magic. They’re trivial when you learn of their physiology.”
“You mean that we can do more with our magic? More than illusions and glamour and growing plants?” Pecan asks, looking at the diagram. “Why are the vampires at the bottom of the list?”

“It’s with that kind of mindset that you’ll grow strong and powerful.”
“To answer your question, magic has no limitations upon it than what our species and the witches have put on it. It’s because they do not want to harness true power. They want to keep things annoyingly political. However, if they would tap into what magic truly is, then we wouldn’t have to worry about any threat ready to tear out our throats.”
Upon the diagram, it held the fae and the witches next to one another. Merfolks were solely under them. Hunters and Humans were under them. Finally, the werewolves and the vampires bottomed the list. Vampires being at the lowest.
“But, if it keeps us from getting killed, how is it a taboo?” She asks, not finding any reason to avoid the subject.

“They are taboo, because they’re far more assertive than what our kind is used to. No one dwells in the world of being strong. We’re tricksters by nature. Yet, what happens to a trickster when they’re cornered and run out of tricks?” his diagram was coming together nicely. It showed the hierarchy of the different species and what they do, just to keep Pecan alert.
He gave Pecan a hard gaze, “they die. Horrifically.”
“Taboo how?” Typically, taboo subjects remain taboo for a reason, but she can’t help but be intrigued by the idea.

“Of course. However, I will warn you. The things I will teach you are considered taboo by many fae and even the witches.”
“But I assure you it will keep you and your friends safe.”
“Can you teach me, Professor Paralei? I know you’re already teaching the arts, but I can work around whatever schedule you have.”

“Indeed,” he nodded, “smart assumption. Yet, no supernatural being has never turned on the fae. Trust me.”
“I’ve defeated plenty of all of them myself,” he stared at her, “you can harness the power, especially since you’re young. That youth gives you a chance against them.”
“Thanks, sir.” Pecan says and leans forward to look at his diagram. “I’m still young, Professor. I’ve been training with my magic, and while I’m getting better, I still lack experience.”
“There have been many wars where they turned on those of little consequences.”

✧ — Between Nova and Ewan, Amari was not sure who would win the award of the contest for whom held the most exhausting amount of flamboyant energy. One held a more salacious nature, all naked lines and constant innuendo. The other was reminiscent of ancient art. If the vampire were forced to choose between which one’s company he would have preferred to be in the vicinity of, he would have chosen to propel himself off of a cliff. Both of their ostentatious personalities also led to an air of arrogance that not even Amari could tolerate for long periods of time. His naturally playful nature seemed to only egg them on.
✧ — “ Why…I’ve brought myself, ” he purred, arms open in a show of flare. “ I fancy myself both a snack and a present once this business is done with. ” His head had tilted ever slightly. The way his hazel eyes were framed with faint pink made him look more doll than demon, setting his soft gaze on Nova in spite of the recent threat. “ You’re being awfully accusatory. I haven’t terrorized anyone, but I’m told the same could not be said about you. There is so much blood on those hands of yours. ”
✧ — The giggles did not elicit any form of laughter to escape Amari, but that was to be expected. “ The very same. I wanted to confirm her relation to you. She’s very exquisite… ” One of his eyebrows quirked upward. “ …but she is not the reason for my visit. We may revisit the topic once I’ve gotten what I’ve come for, ” he continued.
✧ — “ I need details about the current factions, mainly the names of those holding title in the Corvus Coven and their dogs. I thought to come to you first. ”
Nova brought a gloved hand to his face, giggling innocently, dramatically enhancing it with his general appearance. For someone who has dealt death as far as the eye can see, he could play the cute role well. “Oh, yes, I probably have done quite a number on those bloodsuckers--” he caught himself, “I mean, the vampires. But they have threatened Lacey from what I’ve heard, so you know how that goes.”
“For the vampires, there may be a mistress handling a lot of them. But a mistress is simply an egoist, which makes her way worse. Although, that makes her a public figure to them, thus she cannot be anything higher than her rank. There’s someone bigger and someone who might be staging a coup. Since they found Abel missing this,” he put a heart over his own.
“Julien, knowing he cannot win the war with his youth fading, decided to give over the pack to some new fang,” he laughed and shook his head, “thus the preparations for a big war are in order. I hope they forget espionage in lieu of more braver approaches. Leave that to the witches.”
He paused, looking off to the side. He placed his chin on top of his hands, searching for any thoughts he had. “I know of their dogs, some of them at least, but of the big wigs?” Nova shrugged, “I don’t know. They’re more secretive.”
“You already know that I avoid their gaze for their own sake,” he waved them off, “I am wondering, though,” the goofy air fell in favor of a professional one, “I’ve been told that you are a vampire now. Then again, that’d explain why you’re able to stand here.”

“Armistice?” he removed a pen and took a piece of loose paper, “nice word.”
He began to draw upon it, the different balances of affairs on the Isle, “you see, we of the Fae are not as strong, sure, but our magic is deeper than any other. We are established in the world of nature. Thus, we have a leg up against most of them, but one must forgo much studying and training to truly harness the world’s greatest strength.”
“Also, the fae are known to be relatively of little consequences. They wouldn’t turn on us.”
“But, what about the rest of us, after they ‘eradicate’ the vampires? What of they try to hurt the faes next? We both know that the Hunters want themselves or the humans reigning control of the Isles. We’re not as physically powerful as the other nonhuman species and our magic is rendered almost useless around Iron.” Pecan frowns at the idea that may or may not happen. “Why can’t there be some sort of armistice?”

✧ — College campuses were places one would never find Amari. They were terribly stereotypical breeding grounds for fledgling vampires who consume too much of the cliche vampire media genre. They would lurk in shadows and basements, draining the pink from blushing dames in backrooms and dorms, all the while pretending a semblance of humanity by attending needless classes on history that was written inaccurately. It was disturbingly textbook, and yet his trek through the grounds yielded expected results. He’d locked eyes with four other vampires. The predictability was disgusting.
✧ — Amari hoped the venture would pay off. “ Surprise, ” he murmured after the door had been opened and his ears were filled with a familiar voice. The faerie sitting comfortably at the desk was a sight for sore eyes. “ I’m back…and let me tell you; death was uneventful. ”
✧ — He sauntered his way toward the desk and took a seat on the opposite side of the structure. For a heartbeat, he let himself take a gander around the room. Quaint. “ I wish I were here for pleasure, but I’m afraid I’ve come with a bit of business. Witch business, to be precise. I saw quite the spectacle at the Lux nights ago. I imagine you know what or whom I’m alluding to. ”
Nova had kept his back turned to Amari as he entered, which to many would be a mistake. Each move that the vampire could make would result in sure death if you were not able to fight or were not prepared. In either of case, Nova had nothing to be afraid of. In fact, he kept his back turned until Amari spoke of an obvious fact. He turned around in the chair, holding Pecan’s art report. He twirled a pen between his fingers, showing eons of dexterity, stubbornness, and practice in the action. He lowered the notebook, eyeing Amari with a slight bit of contempt, no, annoyance.
“Death is uneventful. When it happens, you stink up a room no matter what race you are,” he complained, before fully resting the notebook on the desk. There was a momentary pause between them as a new gravity came to the cute, little office. It’s not often that two predecessors found themselves in the same location. “You didn’t bring any snacks or presents? You disappear for eons without much of a call. Finally, you parade around, terrorizing these children and now you wander on here like I couldn’t make a modern art masterpiece out of you?”
Another beat, along with Nova’s glare, but all was lost in a sudden explosion of giggles, “gosh, Amari, you sure know how to make an entrance. Speaking of business and of my precious, little singer. I assume that is who you’re referring to?” he relaxed back in his seat, propping his legs up on the table.

Nova performed a quick illusion effect to make the outside look like he was not accepting any more visitors.
“You met a few good vampires?” Nova asked, passing it off as a young girl’s hope, “it’s lucky they don’t use any mind-control. Then again, it wouldn’t work in here.”
He readjusted, not bothering with the minute details of magic. “Pecan, dear, if they’re smart, they’d stay out of any harm’s way. The time of peace is over and unfortunately there will be bloodshed. Your friends may be in danger, just because of the recent hunts by the witches and their dogs.”
Pecan beams a bit a the praise. “Thanks, Professor Paralei.” She nods and looks around the office a bit, then back at the door to ensure that it’s closed. “Um, sir, this is off topic, but I’ve been reading about a lot of vampire killings lately. I know that they intend to hunt the bad ones, as there are bad ones in all of the species on the Isles, but what of the friendly ones? I met a friendly vampire or two, and I’d hate for something to happen to one of them.”

“Try not to speak. Your kind tend to forget that saving your breath is important,” he said, somewhat angrily.
Nova softened up; she didn’t deserve the foul attitude. “It wouldn’t be right to leave you out there by yourself after saving your life. It’d be a shame and a waste if you got eaten by some random wolf, not a werewolf. Just a plain old wolf.”
They made it to the overgrown cottage, a home that the Grimm Forest had cuddled and decided not to let go. He walked up to the front door, opening it with a vine. When he peered in, he didn’t see a cauldron or anything related to his main goal. He sighed, relieved by the discovery. He didn’t have to hide anything. As he came in, he brought her over to Lacey’s downstairs bed. He knew that she would despise that anyone slept on it, but this was an emergency.
He went over to a cabinet, taking out several instruments and flasks to start performing another healing process. He illustrated a spell circle underneath Isobel, before sitting down on a stool placed near her. A few spells began to come forth from the fae. Medical magic found in the archives of old fae minds started to take their effect on her. One to reinforce the healing process. Another to seal up any wounds. Another to ease her mind. Finally, one to help lull her to sleep.

“It’s a decent philosophy.” Aggie crossed his arms as Nova changed his opinion. “No, yeah, I wouldn’t call me righteous. Maybe just rude? That’s what most people go with. I don’t really pity the people who fuck themselves over. If he had come back for the notebook it would be a different story, but he didn’t. So now we’re here.”
Tumblr media
“Rudeness doesn’t look well on resumes. You have learn to mix your words around to make sure they’re agreeable. Righteous means prideful, not necessarily rude. It leaves it up to others to make conclusions on if you are rude or not,” Nova instructed, “you must have pitied him enough to bring it here.”

“The Birth of Venus,” he hummed, “a piece that can depict the beauty of godhood. Something that we are the closest to,” he took a few glances at the report, nodding in approval.
“You usually turn in exceptional work. I’m excited to read it,” he smiled, “especially after a few of your lazier classmates.”
“Sandro Botticelli.” Pecan smiles and hands him the folder containing her report. “I really liked his piece: The Birth of Venus. Even though I prefer surrealistic artwork, it’s still a beautiful painting.

“Sucks to be him. No one? How long have you been doing that?” Aggie said. He was about to say, in all that time, but had stopped himself. Nova seemed like a young professor, so it could have been just a few years or so. And what was that, like four semesters total? He nodded, licking his lips. “I guess your right. I was half concerned about something that could be confused as decoration for the customers to look through having all that foul language. Plus the grade but you know. You do you.”
Tumblr media
“For a few years now,” he said, bluntly, “it is apart of my teacher’s philosophy. It’s a lesson to be taught in initiative,” he further explained, picking up the notebook for emphasis.
“This would be bad for business,” he put the notebook back down, “so not as righteous as I originally perceived,” Nova’s eyes narrowed, countering the smile he had on his face.

“Just turning in my report.” Pecan smiles from the doorway and enters the office. “You did say we could turn it in early, right?”
“No, you have to turn it in on the exact millisecond that I say,” Nova feigned seriousness, before releasing a hearty laugh, “no, no, you can turn it in now. No problem.”
He put out his hand, “what did you do it on this time, Pecan?”

╰☆⊰;     “Oh, professor, I actually just wanted to…. OH!” Almost instantly after entering the office, Kaylee’s eyes fell onto a headline about vampires. She sort of had a talent to notice such things, even when people tried to hide them.
╰☆⊰;     “Vampires, professor? Here in town? So it is real? They do really exist? Holy Pelor, I knew it! Okay, professor, you will have to tell me just everything about this now! For my blog! People have the right to read and know about what is going on here, after all…..!” @rex-noctis
Tumblr media
“For your blog?”
The excitement of Kaylee compared to the befuddlement of Nova showed the distinct differences in many things of the two. Firstly, Nova pondered on why she wanted to talk about the bloodsuckers. They’d take advantage of that. Secondly, how could she live here and not know? The innocence of humanity sometimes left Nova with these shocked moments. This was no different.
“I repeat, for your blog?”
