Idk if you're a fan of Dunk & Egg but the casting for the leads was just announced it's finally happening!!

i honestly don't know much about dunk and egg but i've been hearing about them for years and i'm always excited for series announcements like im not going to pretend i'm not gonna slurp up whatever they deign to feed us (minus a jon snow show probably bc who gives a fuck). seems an odd choice to greenlight first but yeehaw let's have fun.

daemon is so guard dog coded....going for a hug after he's defeted the triarchy. all he wants is to be called a good boy!!

for all that daemon runs up against the constraints of being a second son, he really internalized the support role that that birth order necessitates like he wants to be useful and needed to his family. he can't do that by ruling, or by birthing children, or by being hand of the king, or by "strengthening the bloodline"...... and viserys' control over him being used almost exclusively to send him away or give him orders that place him outside of the family circle are clearly so damaging....

we can speculate over that relationship or daemon's childhood but by god the way the men in the red keep talk about daemon like he's the devil incarnate which gives daemon a role to live up to........ staging explosions of violence because they mete him influence and gain him attention.... he just keeps walking around saying like look at the blade i have become look how sharp i have made myself please won't you use me, and the only way he's ever even granted an audience is either for punishment of wrongdoing or celebration of victory (all involve death and violence in some way).

i have a lot of thoughts about how that connects him to rhaenyra but yeah. he's absolutely dogcoded to a crazy degree. secondson disease and it's FATAL!!!!

rhaenyra has a complicated nuanced relationship to gender but yeah she's not at all a tomboy. however. there are much worse things people chose to call rhaenyra so sdfkgjh

My biggest takeaway from the scripts is Daemon had a lot more dialogue they ended up cutting and they kinda had Matt convey more with just his performance. Which i'm not saying they handicapped him or anything but it is interesting.

yeah that one is interesting because i honestly feel like matt did a better job conveying daemon and his motivations than the more expositional bits of the scripts did, so i'm happy with those changes (as i am most of the script changes).

i'm more interested from a creative perspective if that came from matt or the writers and what it means for him going forward because like. that's my guy that's my man.... as long as it's an intentional (good) choice and not a sidelining of the character i'm chillin. but also can matt get some good stuff to chew on next season.
