I still can't get over Jess's "I love you." Because it's "I LOVE you." Present tense. Not "loved." Not "I loved you when we were together," which is what Rory almost came close to saying an entire 9 months before this. He's been gone that entire 9 months! They've been broken up for 9 months! He left! And he loves her. He was traveling across the country, and he loves her. It makes no difference to him how long it's been or whether they're together or not. His love for her isn't just a "feeling" to him anymore, it's a state of being! He exists in a permanent state of "I love you."
