2x04 X-Ray + Penny tag: What happens after Mac escapes Murdoc's turture room and emerges from that manhole...
For the June Flashfic Writealong June 18 Prompts: "A bad penny always turns up" and "Help":
Mac’s arms shake as he pushes up against the manhole cover. It’s heavy iron, meant to be lifted from the outside. He can barely manage to keep himself from falling off the ladder as he presses against it. Rumbles come and go from the other side. Cars. The road he’s about to emerge onto is going to be a busy one, but busy is good. Busy means lots of bystanders. He can disappear into the crowd. He can’t hear Murdoc in the tunnels right now but he knows the assassin is down there, still following him. And he can’t go back. He can’t. He can’t.

For a genuine, certified genius, Jack didn’t think he’d met anyone as goddamn stupid as Angus Macgyver. The kid had brains and statistics and sheer, unstoppable determination in spades, but even after eight weeks in the field as a government agent he still hadn’t quite picked up the habit of not charging headlong into active gunfire. He’d been warned about it repeatedly and occasionally with diagrams and yet, here they were again. Sure, Mac had insisted that he had a plan and, yes, technically his actions had been directly responsible for both neutralising the gunmen and incapacitating their target ready for capture, but it was the principle of the thing.
He genuinely didn’t seem to grasp that the mission didn’t matter to Jack if it got Mac killed.

The quickest route between the Bozers’ suburban house and the middle school is to cut through the trees that ring Mission City, follow the stream east, cross the 2-lane highway that circles around the north edge of town, and cut through more trees. It’s a good thirty minutes’ walk, although Mac and Bozer cut it down to twenty by jogging part of the way.
They’re almost there when Bozer grabs his arm. “Mac! What is that?”
It’s smoke. Dark gray smoke makes a haze above the end of the stadium. A chill runs through Mac, and for a moment he’s frozen in place. “Oh, no,” Mac finally breathes, and takes off toward the stadium at a run....

Adrenaline surges through Jack's body as he climbs the tree where Mac's stuck upside down from his twisted parachute lines. Their jump had gone to hell six ways from Sunday.
"Jack!" Mac's panicking and probably close to blacking out.
"I'm comin', I'm comin'," Jack calls back. His foot slips a couple of times in his rush to get to his partner, but he catches himself easily.
"Get me out of here. Please."
When Jack finally sprawls himself onto the branch above Mac, he's concerned to see that Mac's face is bright red and his eyes are rolling back into his head. "Hey, bud, hell of a place to hang out."
Mac is tangled up good and proper, and there's no clear answer to how to get him out of there without dropping him twenty-five feet to the ground.
"Jack?" Mac murmurs, trying to lift his head. His body shifts, dropping a couple of inches, and he cries out with a startled yelp.

Hallucination is not a great sign. Mac knows this, and he knows he’s hallucinating, but somehow, he just can’t stop letting his eyes wander back to the space along the wall where a hooded cobra dances over a basket. The movement is mesmerizing. His thoughts slip away. He can’t remember who dumped him here, in such an awkward position, half propped-up on something round. His eyelids fall across his eyes like weighted blankets before he can figure it out...
