Absolutely EVERYTHING is going to complete and utter SHIT. His robotic performance of welcoming Starlight back onto The Seven after just accusing her a day or so of treason was accepted graciously by the press. His lips curved into a grateful smile as he spoke of her courageous efforts of exposing the REAL villain within their special fold. Yet, the said light of justice did not reach his blue-coloured hues. In fact, they were far more glazed over as the ringing in his head grew LOUDER and louder.

Why does he feel so . . . HELPLESS now that he doesn't have Stormfront to lean on for support, advice, or even comfort?

Homelander shuts down this line of thinking immediately. There's a time and place for self-pity, but it's NOT going to be in front of another living soul. In fact, he lifts his head up to hold on high as the heroes are escorted off the stage and into the backroom where last-minute refreshments were thrown together. The blond blindly grabs for a Queen Maeve-themed water bottle and begins to unscrew the cap. It's when he accidently makes eye-contact with the woman of the hour does he freeze in place. Oh, he REALLY doesn't like the look on her face, either. What is it? Smug? Pitying? Perhaps even indifferent that she can prance around here and call herself a hero again? It takes a very deep breath for him to keep from giving a snide remark. Instead, a wink and a playful grin displays on his face while pointing the drink in the other's direction.

The whole 'cool guy' persona he has going on really fell flat the very second he proclaimed JINX as a reason of why she should pay his tab. Now her hand cradles her chin, lulling her head in the direction of her companion. Pakunoda looks him over for just a moment before signaling to the bartender that more drinks should be brought their way. When a couple of tall glasses are placed in front of them, the blonde spider scoots the drink towards the man sitting beside her.

Gloved fingers drum the smooth surface of the table over and over again. Blue-colored hues practically glare HOLES into the other hero that sits across from him. Ever since that goddamn plane went down, it's as if Queen Maeve has gotten the NERVE to sidestep him at every possible chance. What's with this delicate dance they're in? She CHOSE to abandon those people alongside with him all on her own free will! He still recalls her warm hand in his as they oh so sadly gaped at the flight descending into the sunset in a blaze of glory. There's no denying that!

Yet here she is, taking on the role of a grieving victim! It's starting to REALLY fucking annoy him.

As the rest of the team dismisses, Homelander holds up a hand to signal that his teammate should REMAIN sitting. He's able to withhold a pleasant grin until the door shuts behind the last one to leave. That's when the facade drops as quickly as it appeared: a deep frown left in its tense wake. Promptly, the hero cracks his neck in the woman's direction so he can get a BETTER look at her.
