A Call to Join the Royal Court 📯

A decree to everyone in the kingdom of the Red, White and Royal Blue fandom to join us for A Royally Big Bang -  an event where we welcome all of you, but first:

What is a Big Bang?

A Big Bang is a fandom wide event in which authors and artists are paired up. Authors will write a work within the parameters of the timeline proposed and the Artists will transform said work into a pairing piece of some kind within the timeline as well. The works are then posted together in harmonious union. 

Who can participate?

We invite all authors and artists and betas over 18 to be a part of the festivities. We welcome all forms of transformative work here. As an artist, paired pieces are only limited by your imagination, let it be a podfic, a gifset, a playlist, a moodboard, visual art, etc!

When is this happening?

👑A ROYALLY BIG BANG STARTS RIGHT NOW!!! 👑

AUTHORS: Sign ups for Authors start (today!) February 1st and will close on February 22nd. 

You can sign up in three tiers according to minimum word counts and posting dates. This “Big Bang” has three different tiers (see below) for all authors' creative needs. The bigger the size, the longer the timeframe you have to write.

ARTISTS: Sign up will start on February 23rd and run until March 8th. You will be able to rank your top choices based on summary and tier.  

BETAS: Sign up dates will start on February 23rd and run until March 8th. You will be able to share what you are and aren’t comfortable to beta based on tag restrictions and tier. 

What do tiers mean?

🎂Tier 1 - Mini Bang: 10k+ words. Posts May- June

🎂Tier 2 - Medium Bang: 30k+ words. Posts July - September 

🎂Tier 3 - Big Bang: 50k+ words. Posts October - December 

Works within Tier 1 are expected to be a minimum of 10K words leading up to 30K words. If your work is over 30K words it is within Tier 2, and so on and so forth.

A few days ago, rizcriz made an art prompt for alex and henry go to an aquarium, and i can't draw, so here we are. This might be crack, but it's just a cute lil baby that I needed because I had a rough few days and this made me smile.

FirstPrince Falling in Love 100 Different Ways (3/100)

Based on rizcriz’s prompt: Alex and Henry in line at a bar both waiting for their turn. Henry accidentally cuts Alex, and he expects Alex to get mad but Alex is far too attracted to him to be mad

“Buy me a drink, and we’ll be solid.”

The bar is, for lack of a better word, hoppin’, and Alex feels like he’s been waiting to get the bartender’s attention forfuckingever. He glances over his shoulder at where Nora and June are laughing over something on Nora’s phone and feels a surge of FOMO. He’s even more impatient when he turns back to the bar, but to his relief, the bartender’s finally looking at him.

“What can I get you?” the bartender asks.

Alex is opening his mouth to reply when a crisp British accent calls out, “Two Moscow mules, please.”

What the fuck? Alex whips around, ready to cuss the hell out of whoever just had the audacity, when he’s met with the most wide-eyed, sweet-faced, offensively tall man he’s ever seen.

“Oh, Christ, I’m so sorry,” the man says, a very attractive flush spreading across his spectacular cheekbones. “I didn’t mean to cut the line.”

Well, isn’t this interesting. Anger vanishing as quickly as it came, Alex props his elbow against the bar and raises his eyebrows. He has to tip his chin up to look at the man, and he’s not even a little bit mad about it. “Buy me a drink, and we’ll be solid, sweetheart.”

The man’s flustered expression turns to surprise then to interest. His gaze slides over Alex, warm and lingering. Then, his full pink lips tick up, and he holds his hand out. “I’m Henry.”

“Alex.” Alex shakes Henry’s hand, and if he rubs his thumb across Henry’s knuckles while doing it, fucking sue him. “Gin and tonic, by the way. Make it quick, yeah? I’m not very patient.”

“Hmm, too bad,” Henry says, his smile turning into something more suggestive. “I like to take my time.”

God. Fuck. Alex is so interested. “You got two drinks, right? Are you with someone?”

“My best mate,” Henry says. “What about you?”

That makes him realize he completely forgot about Nora’s and June’s drinks. “My sister and best friend. I have to order for them, but after that, do you want to—”

“Yes,” Henry answers immediately.

“I didn’t even finish,” Alex protests with a laugh.

“Pity.” Henry smirks, eyes bright. “We can remedy that later tonight, if you like.”

Motherfucker. Alex casts one more look at Nora and June, who are now watching him and Henry with open curiosity. Nora sticks her tongue into the inside of her cheek and thrusts it in and out.

Alex quickly looks back at Henry. “Would your friend be cool with me coming over to your table?”

Henry smiles. “I’m sure he would. I could even send him off to entertain your sister and best friend, if you’d like. He’s a lot of fun. Very respectful.”

“Fucking excellent.” Alex is almost vibrating with excitement. “Let’s do that.”

New Year's? Yes. New Year's.

A lot of fandoms have Christmas gift exchanges or Secret Santa events, and while we love those, it does get a little busy in the run up to Christmas.

Plus, New Year's Eve is when the Firstprince story really started!

So we went with a New Year's gift exchange instead.

All gifts are due January 1st 2024, whether that's one minute after midnight (on the night from December 31st to January 1st) or one minute before midnight (from January 1st to January 2nd) is entirely up to you.

matthewlopez: One of my favorite moments in Casey McQuiston’s novel is when Henry explains himself to Alex in an email, using the literary tradition of a fairy tale. I wanted to get that idea into the movie and so I wrote this scene inspired by that moment in the book. I ended up cutting it as we didn’t ultimately learn anything we didn’t already know/intuit and because the three and a half minutes the scene runs was ultimately hindering our momentum. It was a painful but necessary cut and I’m happy to finally share the scene with you all. The speech ran over a page and half in the shooting script and Nick performed it beautifully in a single extended take that we then got coverage on for the end. For those of you who know the film (and there are a few of you), it was intended to go after the scene between Alex and Oscar in the kitchen and before the scene on the raft. I hope you enjoy!

The first voicemail notification sits in Henry’s inbox when he lands in London. He stares at it for a long while before quietly dismissing it and shoving his phone unceremoniously into his pocket. His phone feels like lead in his pocket the entire ride back to the palace, fingers itching to pull it out and just listen. But he’s stronger than that, isn’t he? He left, he got on the plane, he made it home without once looking back. He had, though, contemplated the many steps it would take to turn around. Wondered if he could make it back with enough time to climb back into Alex’s bed and pretend none of this nightmare—the confession of love—had ever happened. But for every step he envisions himself taking back, three more lead him straight to Kensington Palace, because for whatever it is that he wants, there is only what he can have, and it is not a life with one Alexander Gabriel Claremont-Diaz. -- Or, Henry actually answers one of Alex's calls.
