Pete slides into the driver's seat with a sigh. "So, you punched him because...?"

"He was being homophobic", Macau grumbles. "And he insulted you and hia."

Pete nods. He understands, but Vegas isn't here, so he has to be the serious one.

"Don't get yourself suspended just because of some asshole."

Macau hums in acknowledgement.

A moment passes.

Pete chuckles. "Did you get him good?"

"I think I broke his nose."

"Nice. Good job."

He offers Macau his fist and Macau beams as he bumps his own against it.

"Don't tell hia?"

Pete snorts and starts the car. "You wish."

Big can feel Kinn's eyes burrowing into his back from across the room.

"Porsche, this isn't– I mean what about Kinn, what about–"

Porsche's fingers graze the skin above his waistband. He gasps quietly.

"I told you it's fine." Porsche murmurs, leaning closer. "Do you trust me?"

Big doesn't answer, but doesn't back away either, only letting out a shaky exhale.

What a curious thing to want so much.

"Trust me. Please?" Torturously slowly and carefully, Porsche leans in to kiss him.

And despite his instincts telling him that this is wrong, he can't have this, he pulls him closer.

At some point in your life, you were taught that being slightly annoying is an unforgivable sin. Maybe it was by your parents or a teacher or a friend or a bully or an older sibling. But someone taught you that being slightly annoying is a crime punishable by death.

You must unlearn this.

You must accept that all people will be annoying at some point or another in their lives, maybe all of their lives, and that this is okay. It is okay for strangers on the bus, it is okay for children in the grocery store, it is okay for people on social media, and it is okay for you.

I have a lot of feelings about the rise of he would not fucking say that attitudes in fandom spaces and the paralysing effect it can have on creators. As a writer i think it’s important to just write what feels true to you and not what you think others will “approve” of. Like even as a reader i have enjoyed a variety of different characterisations that all work because the writer makes them work for a particular story. And a fic that’s written out of character to some will be in character to others. Writing fic is not your job you’re not being paid it’s your hobby please. Make them as close to canon as possible. Make them completely different. Who cares! Have fun! Have so much fun! There is an audience for every kind of fic and every kind of character interpretation i promise

"Macau is trying to manipulate me into making dessert."

"You always do it when P'Pete asks!"

Vegas grins and pulls Pete closer by his waist. "I get something out of it when Pete manipulates me."

He places a smug kiss on Pete's cheek.

"Gross!"

Pete laughs, then winks at Macau and turns to Vegas with that special sparkle in his eyes. "So, dessert?"

Vegas lets out a long-suffering sigh before leaning in for a kiss. "Whatever you want, baby."

"What about you, Chay? What about your first love?"

"Yeah, you haven't said anything so far."

Porchay looks back and forth between his friends. He's not quite sure what to say.

There are no words to describe the throbbing wound in his chest where the memory of fluttering infatuation should be.

It's nothing but an ugly, bleeding gash.

Beneath his ribs, memories rot.

The space that should be occupied by practiced ease and the knowledge what it's like to be loved stands run-down and abandoned; wails echoing through the hollow interior.

So, Porchay just shrugs. "It wasn't really that special."

“Hey, P’Kim?”

“Hmm?”

“Would you still love me if I was a worm?”

Chay makes his eyes all big and wide and soft as he asks, looking up at Kim through his lashes, cute as can be. Kim is so startled by the question that he strikes a false chord and winces at the way it rings out. 

“... Yes?” 

Chay snickers at the hesitation in his voice. Except then Kim’s eyes narrow at him, and his lips purse, and his eyes get all intense the way they do when he appraises something like a new guitar or a knife. 

“Actually…”

“I don’t think I like where this is going.” Chay tries to draw his legs back from where he’s got his toes tucked under Kim’s thighs—it’s an annoying habit, but he knows Kim loves it because he never pushes them away—and Kim doesn’t let him. His hand darts out to catch Chay’s ankle and sleep him trapped on the couch. 

“Not a worm, but if you were a little caterpillar?” Kim smiles, grazing his nails up Chay’s calf, slowly, tap-tap-tapping away like the legs of a bug. “Worms are slimy and weird but caterpillars are cute, like you.”

“Did you just compare me to a caterpillar?”

“A cute one. And you’re the one that wants to be a worm, anyway.”
