The Scarlet Oasis Grand Opening
This is a dash event blog for The Scarlet Oasis Grand Opening, which will not feature any actual competitions, just a shared setting
As stated, this event is dashboard only and while there will absolutely be a Discord available to all attendees, all events and interactions will be done on Tumblr only.
This is an Event run and designed by @orreasshole
Tumblr media
Unlike many other events the world has seen recently, this is no annual celebration, no. This opening is something far more exclusive. The one day when people can say "I was there when the doors first opened" for a symbol of how far Orre has come. In the grand scheme of things, it's just another excuse to engage in a little gambling, and the other vices and such Orre has to offer, being the last region free of Interpol interference and laws. As such, the opening is strictly for adults only. The Scarlet Oasis isn't some Game Corner like the ones that once operated in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh, no, it's a full-on, bona fide casino complex built in the heart of the Orrean desert. The one question stands, will you be an attendee, or just another soul that can only claim to have missed such a chance?
More info to come later!

The afternoon sun filtered in through a small crack in the opulent red curtains, catching Saya's face and causing her to stir. The soft threads of the sheet felt heavenly on her bare skin, and the cold air of the room only made her want to hunker down further beneath the covers.
The night before had been absolutely extravagant and divine - she had acted as an escort for one of her top paying clients for a particularly ritzy event in Pyrite. He wasn't that much older than she was, and had money galore. In this town, money meant power. Being his escort always meant more than just sex at the end of the night. It was the rare instances where she got to experience a lavish life, all the while getting paid very well at the end of it all. This money always sustained her for a long period of time, and of course Saya seldom divulged any parts of her personal life to any of her clients. It was unnecessary and unneeded. Sex work in Pyrite was common for a variety of reasons, and most didn't ask as long as they were fulfilled at the end of the night.
She could be whoever she wanted, she could be with whoever she wanted. There was never any strings attached - just the way she liked it. All she had to do for the more upscale events was hang on the arm of her client and look pretty. Her clothes were discarded haphazardly by the master bedroom entrance - a large and lavish room, furnished with the most immaculate pieces one could imagine. Sometimes, it was hard to believe she got to experience such things even if it came at the price of selling not just her time, but her body.
As she rolled onto her back, she'd rub her eyes with the back of her hand. Her skin came away with some leftover makeup hanging to it. Not long after she had stirred, a head of dark brown hair would poke out from the covers. Her first and most important rule was to never get too attached, but... she couldn't deny how unbelievably handsome he was. It made her heart skip a beat whenever his number came up on her phone. Saya had already been steeling herself for the inevitable - the time would come where she would have to distance herself, just to avoid any unnecessary feelings.
She soon sat up, messy black hair falling in waves down her back. The man next to her would soon yawn, arms rising out of the mess of sheets and blankets as he stretched. "Good morning," his voice was low, still laced in the throes of sleep. His hand would reach up to her face, thumb tracing along one of her scars.
There was hardly any feeling on the skin there. Of course she was aware he was touching her, though she did not recoil. If anything, she almost leaned into his touch. Almost. Crimson eyes met blue, and she felt the same squeeze in her heart that she always did.
"Beautiful." He'd add after a moment, not yet moving his hand from her face. There was a second of pause, before she'd laugh. "Boy, shut yer ass up." Even still, there was something about hearing it from him that made it even more special. "I know I ain't th'only woman yer sayin' that shit to." That, in turn, made him laugh.
"And I'm not the only man you've heard that from." He was wrong. Men called her beautiful all the time, sure, but not her facial scars. This was a first. The back of her neck burned, traveling to her ears not long after. She knew she couldn't break her own rule, even if it hurt to have to face it, and even if it just became infinitely more difficult now.
Her hand moved to brush a strand of hair from his face, the corner of her lip turning up into a small smirk. "Wish I could stay here with ya longer. I..." really enjoyed spending last night with you, "I should prolly get goin', though. I got some shit goin' on fer th'next few weeks." Saya lies coolly, feeling her heart splinter piece by piece. "So I won't be available fer ya." She moves her hand from the side of his face, peeling the covers back as she gets out of the bed. "'m sorry-"
"No, I understand. You do what you have to." He interjects, getting up with her to fetch his own clothes. They get dressed in silence, Saya not bothering to look at him for the time being in case she were to crack.
"Do you need me to call for someone to drive you home?" He soon asked, approaching her and fixing a strand of hair that was caught in her coat. Saya did have a large sum of cash in her wallet now, but she still wasn't worried.
"Nah, I'll be fine. I've dealt with m'share of shit 'fore, y'know? Y'worry too much." That would mean she'd have to wait, and she wanted to leave before it became too difficult. It already was too difficult.
There was another pause, before he'd soon nod. "Alright. Just... let me know when you're available again." Looking into his eyes almost broke her resolve. Those damn eyes, as blue as any summer sky she'd ever seen. A long breath soon left her nostrils, steeling herself all over again. "I will, promise."
One by one, the strings would snap as Saya carefully severed them. At least once her back was turned on him, it was easier to walk out of the door.

Saya knew she couldn't keep her injury hidden forever. While she had thrown out her blood-stained shirt and meticulously disinfected and dressed the wounds on her face, she couldn't keep wearing bandages on her face forever. She couldn't keep downplaying the severity of what actually lay beneath the dressings. Though she was a smart kid - perhaps too smart for her own good sometimes - her grandfather also was not a fool.
The rubbing alcohol stung on her face as she dabbed the wound with a saturated cotton ball, feeling tears sting at the edges of her eyes. Her free hand gripped the counter, knuckles white as she grit her teeth. Cool air lapped at the alcohol that clung to her face, quickly drying out and finally providing relief. Her hand reached into the drawer where she had stashed her bandages, only to come up empty. Shit. She had done well to keep them stocked, swiping disposable bandage wrap from the local drugstore every few days.
Her wounds were healing by some miracle, but the scarring of her skin was already becoming apparent with each passing day. Red eyes stared back at herself as she looked herself over in the mirror. The 12 - soon to be 13 - year old had a hardened edge to her after the incident. The way the tissue was scarring only added to this fact more.
She tossed her braid over her shoulder, adjusting her bangs to try and cover the wound. It worked somewhat, but not good enough. Maybe she could sneak out and go steal some more bandage wrap...
The bathroom door creaked as she stepped out, though it was hardly audible over the loud western movie her grandpa had blaring on the living room television. The sound of ricocheting bullets and gunfire echoed off the walls as Saya crept to her room to grab her bag.
Unfortunately, she couldn't leave through her bedroom window. It was too high up, and there was no fire escape she could utilize. Hopefully she could make a quick exit out the front door. Her pace was quick as she walked behind her grandpa's favorite recliner, and the noise from the TV would cease as he hit the mute button the remote.
He was too perceptive for his own good - a trait she also picked up on, and a trait that was necessary after living in such a place as The Under for so long. Complacency and a lapse in perception were the biggest killers here.
"Where y'runnin' off t'now?" His gruff voice cut through the silence, Saya's heart sinking as she rest her hand on the doorknob. "Out." She replied quietly, back facing him.
There was a rattling cough from the older man, and she heard the recliner move as he got up - with the help of his Lucario, of course. "What in th'hell's been goin' on with ya lately, yer usually up t'no good runnin' wild out there n' all but least ya've always been up front 'bout it t'me."
She should have just left then and there, or feigned another lie. The feeling that she was in trouble kept her rooted in place, however, her hand still remaining unmoving on the doorknob. Her hair fell in a curtain around her face, and she didn't move to look at her grandfather as he approached. Flashes of light from the TV danced off the walls, dyeing the room in various shades of color. Still, she could not face him.
"Lemme see ya. C'mon now, Saya." For another moment longer, she would stand in silence, before slowly turning to look up at him. The shock was evident in his eyes, and it only made her wish to leave more and more. "Oh, sweetheart-" The crack in his voice utterly shattered her heart to dust, feeling the tips of her ears begin to burn from shame.
"S'fine," she'd say, her knuckles turning white as she held the doorknob even tighter, "I kept our food safe from them assholes. I don't care none 'bout this as long as I can keep plates on th'table."
Her grandfather was not a soft man. Decades of working in the mines deep beneath the earth had hardened his personality. The losses he's experienced in his life - those of his friends, his wife, even having his own son walk out on him - had never made him shed a single tear. He was a tough son of a bitch, raising her to take no shit. His no-nonsense personality and iron exterior helped teach her how to make a shell of her own.
Today, though, was the first time she had ever seen him cry.
"Lookit what they did t'ya..." His hand would move to touch the side of her face, thumb moving over the healing wound. Her first instinct was to recoil, but her legs wouldn't move. Seeing the tears rolling down his face made a lump rise in her own throat. Like him, she never cried. Tears were nothing but a waste in a city like this - in a region like this.
"Why waste yer tears on me," it wasn't a question, really, but more of a statement, "s'stupid. I told ya - s'fine. I don't care none. Was more pissed 'bout th'eggs breakin' than this ugly ass scar."
His hand soon moved away from her face, the cold air of their home stinging the lingering warmth away quickly. "I've failed too much in m'life, Saya. Knowin' I've failed ya now is... I couldn't give ya th'life y'deserve. Havin' t'go out n' take care of th'both of us. Couldn't keep yer pa from up n' leavin'. Couldn't get yer mama t'stick 'round neither. N' I could never give my grandpappy th'closure of his pa up n' disappearin' in th'desert neither. N' now, I let ya get hurt under m'care. This ain't th'man I wanted t'be."
Something in her gut would twist uncomfortably, making its way up to her heart as a chill took over her veins. There was never any blame in her towards him for a second - if anything, she viewed it as her own fault. She was the one that couldn't protect herself, she was the one that always made herself an easy target by being out there alone. It was all her own volition - her own choice.
A tear would leave her left eye, stinging her scarring wound. Ugly. That was what her scars were, and what they made her feel like. Ugly. A testament to her own inability to protect herself, a testament to her own complacency which could have gotten her killed. And now, every time her grandfather would look at her, it would be a constant reminder of his own failings and shortcomings. A despair unlike any other sit heavy in her stomach - it made her glad she hadn't eaten that day.
She wanted nothing more than to hide away somewhere and disappear for a while, but... he depended on her. Saya had already done enough damage to her grandfather - she didn't need to fan the fire further.
"I don't wanna talk 'bout this no more," her voice came out as a whisper, turning away from him, finally, "still should be a can of food left up there for ya. I'll get more while m'out." Finally, Saya was able to make her exit into The Under's cold atmosphere.
While her tears stopped quickly, there was nothing in this world that would stop the shame.

While Saya doesn't mind when people look at her scars (it's part of the territory really, and it's not something she can easily cover either) or ask about them, she HATES when people touch them. She will recoil as if she's been burned when any one of her facial scars is touched, or worse, she will lash out not just verbally, but physically.
She's dealt with it a tremendous amount in her past sex work, and with drunk people at bars that got a bit too touchy. Usually, it does not end well for them. There have been a few exceptions in the past like with some of her personal favorite clients, but those exceptions are extremely limited in current times since she's retired from that line of work.
Her other scars are fair game - she could care less if they're touched (even if it would still be weird to happen out of the blue), but her facial scars? Unless you're someone VERY important to her, it's best to keep your hands to yourself - otherwise a finger or two might be lost.

With their area thoroughly cleaned and taken care of, Saya leads the way per Mag's request. The blunt is lit as they take to the streets, Saya taking the first long drag. Goosebumps rise on her skin from the chill of the air, bleeding in through the holes of her jeans and dancing on her exposed skin via her unzipped jacket.
After passing off the joint, she zips up the front of her coat just enough to keep the cold off of her stomach, but not too much beyond that - old habits did die hard, after all.
Her companion's question makes the woman shove a hand in her pocket for a moment, eyes looking up at the infinitely black sky above.
Tumblr media
"T'be honest, I ain't got much of a clue. Mojave n' Agave're th'two m'best known fer." The two reasons why she sent some of The Under's most seasoned trainers packing at only age eight. "So I guess fer th'Elite part... prolly Agave. N' then fer th'Colosseum Leader part, Mojave." Thinking about her new titles still made the tips of her ears burn a tad. To be recognized for her skills and given such a lofty position was something her younger self could only dream of.
"But I guess we'll always see. I kinda have some ideas fer a team. Th'problem comes about gettin' 'em, but... guess there's plenty o'time fer that since th'tower is bein' renovated still n' all." Balancing two different teams was a beast of an idea. If anyone could handle it, however, it was Saya.
The streets of Pyrite grew seedier and shadier - if one could even believe it could get worse - as the two women walked along. A telltale sign Saya was getting closer to her turf, and thankfully so. Hopefully they'd be bothered less from there on out.
Crimson eyes flicked back to Mags', a quizzical gleam held within. "New addition?" She inquires, finding her voice dropping a tad as she took back the blunt. There was no idea in Saya's mind as to what it could be. Her knowledge on most species of pokemon was few and far between, with Orre only having a dozen or so species that called the deserts home.
"Well shit, knowin' yerself m'sure it's somethin' else. Y'gonna tell me 'bout it, or y'gonna make me wait?" Knowing Mags, it could go either which way - and Saya wouldn't be bothered by the outcome. She took another deep hit, letting smoke waft from her nostrils. "Wait - is it some alien shit? If y'don't wanna say, least give me a hint."
Tumblr media
"Then, it appears we have finalized our plans for the evening," her intonation slips of its roboticism, though, and the woman lets out a smoky chuckle; its pleasant, having an agreeable game plan to gun for. What little left there is of her shake is soon demolished, the crumbs and garbage and stray trash all gathered and disposed of in a proper receptacle. To add any more litter to an already-unsightly street seems outright disrespectful—after all, she's come to care for this town. "I will allow you to lead, if you would be so kind."
Not long, and the two are off and followed only by the smoke trailing from the tip of the blunt. With the night's chill, Magdelena pulls her leather jacket closer; cold was something she could tolerate, though observing human behavior led her to reflexively mimic these small nuances from time to time. That, and the hug of leather felt amazing after having had a meal.
"Might I ask," comes her voice between passes, a Kalosian exhale as she continues, "who you are planning to have represent you in the Orrean League?"
Though it may come across as business-speak, the cyborg is more curious as to how Saya's Pokemon have been faring. They are as wild as their trainer, with intense personalities to match. With all of the recent developments surrounding Saya's return, the ultrahuman is sure they've also suffered through the brunt of trauma.
"I would like to believe I have my mind settled, although I have recently added a new edition to my roster." The horror she mentions is one she'd encountered while returning through Ultraspace, during her last descent; though hellish the experience was, her new companion shares with her many striking similarities. Already, these bonds have solidified into mutual admiration between the two.
Still, she hadn't yet introduced the mechanized Mewtwo to any of her acquaintances—whenever the opportunity presents itself, she figures she will take the opportunity to do so properly. "I fear for any hopefuls who face me, regardless. Mercy will be left at the threshold, alongside their chances of victory."
The end of the blunt glows red with another drag as they slink through the seedier side streets, whispers from loiterers and bar-goers heard within earshot. Though she's feeling the euphoric high flush over her, Mag doesn't skip an opportunity to flicker her eyes in their direction; flashing with violets and reds, her cold stare is enough to cease their interests so that the two women could continue on in relative peace.
