no, listen, when I say I want to integrate more specific solarpunk stuff in my life, i don’t mean to ask for yet again new “aesthetic” clothes that now you have to buy or make to show your support of the movement (screw that i’m consuming enough as it is), or more posts about impossible house goals, or whatever, I’m asking you what my options to build a portable and eco friendly phone charger are, im asking you viable tiny-appartment edible plants growing tricks on a budget,  im asking tips to slow down when my mind and society tell me im not fast enough, i don’t need more rich art nouveau amateurs aesthetics or pristine but cold venus project, okay, i know i should joins associations where I am tho i’m constantly on the move, thanks for that, just, you know, can we get a bit more practical ??? how do I hack my temporary flat into going off the grid for the time i’m here

Guys, remember that backpacking trip my dad and I took this time last year? Yeah, Columbia river gorge is currently on fire. BOTH sides of the Columbia river. Started by fireworks. FUCKING FIREWORKS. All that old growth protected forest along eagle creek trail and tunnel falls burned to ash. Over 140 hikers trapped by the sudden blaze and needing rescuing by rangers to direct them out of danger through the backcountry. Because of fireworks.
And then, in eastern wa, my other grandparents small town has declared a state of emergency because the jolly mountain fire is still encroaching and threatening all the small little farms spread throughout the valley. My grandma has MS, she has been remodeling her house with grandpa’s help for the past year getting ready for the inevitability of her condition deteriorating to the point of needing a wheelchair. And now the house and all that work is threatened by fire.
And fucking god dammit, it shouldn’t take humans being in danger for us to care about these gigantic wildfires. We are destroying pieces of history and the environment that our ancestors, and native ancestors have preserved for thousands of years. One fucking firework and there goes an entire forest overnight. Because the air here in the northwest has been hot and dry and we’ve had so little rain. The fire JUMPED the river! You know how huge the Columbia river is and how extreme the fire needed to get to reach that point?
I hate people. Climate change is fucking real, and the people who are going to suffer the most are the ones who can’t afford to spend the money to avoid what the rich elite have caused in their greed for profit, the rich who will have no problem escaping to the small enclaves of land they haven’t destroyed.

Just so we’re clear, the reason a lot of people protest climate change isn’t because they like trees and hiking. It’s because we’re making the Earth unlivable for all humans, and that humans in the poorest countries are the ones worst hit.
Protesting climate change ain’t a white privilege thing. The people protesting climate change the hardest are Indigenous people, Island nation people, and poor people in hot countries. They’re terrified.

My group’s final presentation project for my Environmental Psychology class is in less than 12 hours, and we only just finished the powerpoint slides. I think after this year, I really don’t want to deal with powerpoint anymore.
But regardless, here’s my major contribution to the project. Our campaign is about conserving paper, specifically printing double-sided. If you got 2 minutes to spare, take a look! I’m really happy with it, and it’s probably one of the best videos I’ve created. I’m really glad I got to make a video for a class, and it kind of makes me wonder what it’s like to make videos for classes all the time.

AH HELLO!  i'm really sorry i just read this! thank you very much for replying :) so, where are you from then? :) LET'S GET THIS STARTED!
Hello fellow environmental psychologists. I’m studying this field on a University in Germany and we’re really new to all this. How would you all like to start something like a little international environmental psychology discussion group that isn’t really associated with Uni and work and stuff. ;) If there’s anybody out there interested please let me know. I’d very much like that. :)
