I'm afraid we'll have to just agree to disagree on that, as IMO Peter Gabriel is great throughout his career.

BTW, I’m not posting very often on this tumblr at this point, as I’ve gotten heavily involved with Mastodon/the Fediverse instead. If anyone’s interested in following me over there, my handle is @[email protected] ... also, if you’re dabbling in Mastodon and looking for a server/instance home, I can highly recommend  the one I’m on, https://mstdn.games, as being extremely queer/trans-friendly and geek/nerd/gamer friendly. Cheers!

Atypical Autism Traits
The [ original source ] for these is highly gendered.
Under the cut, I am retyping the original source in gender-neutral language, as atypical autism traits do not only appear in girls.
If you are Autistic and your autism matches this profile, it does not mean that you must be a girl; it just means your autism is a kind that often gets missed by traditional diagnostic profiles. These traits were commonly found by researchers in cisgender girls, but they are by no means exclusive to cisgender girls.
The traits are split into four categories.

Saving this for my future reference because I'm all about low-impact cooking with high-quality results 😀
Okay y'all, I have to tell you that I was super skeptical of Antoni-From-Queer-Eye (little-known fact, Netflix makes them legally change their names)'s new show, Easy-Bake Battle.
Tumblr media
But like... it's charming, actually? Antoni has such a genuine energy and it's extremely effective. Everyone is really kind and the guest judges are charming. There's a holiday episode where one of the contestants makes an Eid dessert! Someone makes an everything bagel waffle?
And all of y'all that are always on here on Tumblr eagerly interacting with posts where us old folx tell you how to make food or make things easier on yourself will love this damn show. Part of what contestants are judged on is how easy/simple the recipe is and how many neat shortcuts/cost-cutting tips and tricks they can incorporate into their dishes. You will see things like:
How to cook frozen broccoli so you can't tell it was frozen
How to cook shrimp if you only have access to a coffee pot (no, really)
How to poach an egg in the microwave and why acid matters when you do
How to get crispy skin on salmon when baking it
How to do things like 'use a metal hair pick to get evenly-spaced slices of cucumber'
How to plan ahead so you can reuse today's leftovers for tomorrow's dinner
A lot of baking/cooking shows are either "you can't do this and it's fun to have catastrophe when you try" (Nailed It! & all its many-language spinoffs) or "you can't do this but it's neat to watch the people who can" (literally every other show including GBBO) - they're all aspiration. This show is aspirational in an extremely achievable way, and it is that way on purpose and with intention. I am obsessed with it, because I really love cooking for people and I love when people learn how easy it is to make quality food that tastes good. It is a skill and you can learn it, and once you do, it's a fun game. I literally lay in bed while I'm drifting off to sleep and daydream about flavor combinations. (I'm gonna do dates and goat cheese and walnuts and basalmic vinaigrette - sweet, fat, salt/savory, acid - on butter lettuce for dinner tomorrow. Been thinking about it all night. I got a big bag of dates to use for my 3-day brisket and I gotta use some of them up, I can't use this huge bag on the brisket.)
Literally everything on this show is something you could make. And you should try! Go watch it, and like... try to make something from it, and then come tell me about your successes. I love hearing about when people enjoy cooking.

Oh yeah, I’m still existing. Just so overwhelmed with watching society’s cultural demolition derby these days that I can’t quite focus a thought into a post. But I’m here, out in my little pitstop on the internet, still existing, still watching.

Yeah, the spoon metaphor still requires some explanation - something I don’t have the energy for when I’m out of spoons LOL. When I overdo, I find I tend to use banking/finance terms of all things - like “I’m overdrawn at the personal energy bank” or “I’ve gone into personal energy deficit.” That plus a general reminder that I have a chronic pain/fatigue situation usually works for most well-intentioned people. Those who are bound and determined to misunderstand no matter how I try to break it down, welp, I have no spoons nor fucks left to give for them. :-D
One thing I don't think the Spoon metaphor has helped able-bodied people understand is that you can overdraw.
Generally, for most conditions, running out of spoons doesn't mean you collapse, doesn't produce an effect they can actually see. What it means is that you run on life support, quite possibly unsafely, until you get to a safe place and can stop. But you'll owe those spoons back, with interest. You'll have hurt yourself to do it.
Sometimes I hang out with a friend and they'll be like, wow, I'm really glad you had a good day. And I have to decide whether to make them feel bad by explaining that in fact they did not catch me on a good day, and tomorrow will probably be bad. I just made choices.

Reblogging for that quote from the Combahee River Collective's manifesto.
it's always so fucking funny to me when terfs are like "how can you say trans women and women are the same thing! being born as a man makes you different!" because like. yes. trans women and cis women are different. so are black women and white women. and straight women and queer woman. and women from different countries and different socioeconomic statuses. there's diversity in the experience of womanhood? what a wild concept

Latest bar of weedy chocolate, 8.9 ounces total weight, including the half-ounce of 21.09% THC Grease Monkey. I’m taking a break from the alternative sweetener thing for the moment in favor of just using less sweetener altogether, so back to the agave nectar’s nicer flavor. Also got some fresh unsweetened dried coconut in, and the rest is coconut oil, peanut butter, unsweetened cocoa, and vanilla. Compact but mighty. My brain and bod are already thanking me for that test serving.

This guy expresses exactly why I walked away from Big High Tech back in the 1990s. (Whether I succeeded in finding more meaningful things to do with my life is up for debate, but most of it was a damn sight more fun.)

A timely reminder to myself, especially since my anxiety can manifest in some definitely spooked-by-preditor type behavior.
the human stress response seems so maladaptive!

Sigh. One of my favorite bits of trivia about this one 1970s songwriting duo that’s a favorite fangeek obsession of mine was their songwriting method. They’d keep literally years worth of notebooks full of song lyric ideas they hadn’t found a home for yet, and peruse them on a regular basis for inspiration. I SMH at how many times I’ve thought “I really need to just keep an idea file, might actually get me moving on my own writing...” and then of course not get moving on that either. So I’m posting this to commit to public view that I’m ... thinking about doing this again.
“For The Plot,” I whisper, deleting a rad detail that no longer works as tears fall from my eyes
