Have u heard about the flotillas departing now/soon for palestine
yes!!! i think everyone should learn about the freedom flotilla, which is setting sail for gaza very soon and needs to have eyes and ears on it, as israel has a long history of attacking, raiding and occaisonally killing humanitarian workers on aid ships to gaza, as they did in 2010 with the first freedom flotilla (because that's how long Gaza has been under siege)
here's an interview with journalist and lawyer dylan saba, who is setting sail on it and is a good person to follow to learn more about it:
and this is their website:
remember to follow and check #freedomflotilla on twitter in the coming days.
The iridescent sheen on this bottle, an artificially created effect sought after by 19th-century glassmaking innovators, was not actually intended by or known to their makers. Because of their association with luxury and precious oils and perfumes, these vessels were often buried with their owners in tombs, the chemical conditions of which, over time, have caused the surfaces to deteriorate, resulting in the shimmering, often opalescent, hues that appeal to the modern eye.

This was an older Embrace piece that wasn't up to scratch, was going to recycle it, instead reworked the faces and manes, and used it as an opportunity to practice painting with acrylics. One of the faces has the more “plastic” look that I've been trying to avoid with acrylics (lower left photo). Watering the paint down and then gradually layering seems to keep the matte look I was getting with gouache.
