I was walking through the toy aisle at Target when I found this thing and had a VIOLENT AND IMMEDIATE FLASHBACK to when JP first came out and they had a bunch of REALLY COOL T Rex toys that I would have sold one of my scrawny small-child limbs for but my mother wouldn’t get me one because they were “too violent and also ate people” :(

“In 1984, when Ruth Coker Burks was 25 and a young mother living in Arkansas, she would often visit a hospital to care for a friend with cancer.
Tumblr media
During one visit, Ruth noticed the nurses would draw straws, afraid to go into one room, its door sealed by a big red bag. She asked why and the nurses told her the patient had AIDS.
On a repeat visit, and seeing the big red bag on the door, Ruth decided to disregard the warnings and sneaked into the room.
In the bed was a skeletal young man, who told Ruth he wanted to see his mother before he died. She left the room and told the nurses, who said, "Honey, his mother’s not coming. He’s been here six weeks. Nobody’s coming!”
Ruth called his mother anyway, who refused to come visit her son, who she described as a "sinner" and already dead to her, and that she wouldn't even claim his body when he died.
“I went back in his room and when I walked in, he said, "Oh, momma. I knew you’d come", and then he lifted his hand. And what was I going to do? So I took his hand. I said, "I’m here, honey. I’m here”, Ruth later recounted.
Ruth pulled a chair to his bedside, talked to him
and held his hand until he died 13 hours later.
After finally finding a funeral home that would his body, and paying for the cremation out of her own savings, Ruth buried his ashes on her family's large plot.
After this first encounter, Ruth cared for other patients. She would take them to appointments, obtain medications, apply for assistance, and even kept supplies of AIDS medications on hand, as some pharmacies would not carry them.
Ruth’s work soon became well known in the city and she received financial assistance from gay bars, "They would twirl up a drag show on Saturday night and here'd come the money. That's how we'd buy medicine, that's how we'd pay rent. If it hadn't been for the drag queens, I don't know what we would have done", Ruth said.
Over the next 30 years, Ruth cared for over 1,000 people and buried more than 40 on her family's plot most of whom were gay men whose families would not claim their ashes.
For this, Ruth has been nicknamed the 'Cemetery Angel'.”— by Ra-Ey Saley

true friendship doesn’t necessarily mean sharing the same fandoms; it means being willing to listen to each other talk even though it might be about a fandom you don’t know shit about

What if Bill hadn't made his way to Bon Temps before the murders started, and Sookie decided to go to Fangtasia to investigate on her own? This is my take on Season One of True Blood with a nice heaping dose of Eric/Sookie. I've changed some events, eliminated others, and added many more. Maudette and Dawn have been murdered and Jason is the prime suspect. The story begins on the afternoon of the day that Sookie goes to Fangtasia for the first time.
**
This is the first of an estimated 21 chapters of what I hope to be a 50K story, written for Nanowrimo 2016. I've already written the first 7.5 chapters, and hope to be able to post a chapter a day (though there may be a couple of days between chapters if my writing slows down.) I did not rewatch S1 of True Blood before starting this fic, so the events that mirror the TV show are from my memory. Some little hints from the books may show up as well, but nothing that would spoil anything for non-book readers. Each chapter alternates between Sookie's and Eric's point of view.
Eric/Sookie.  Hopefully eventually rated “M”, but it’s not there yet.

What is says on the tin.
Like, oh, almost every Eric/Sookie fan on the planet, I hated the coda at the end of the series finale. So this story continues from that backyard Thanksgiving dinner, and gives my take on how their story really ends.
Eric/Sookie, 6088 words.

After a long night at work, Sookie is only thinking of going home and soaking her sore feet. Then Eric shows up at Merlotte's. With flowers.
Eric/Sookie, with a little side of Sam and the Merlotte’s gang.  3525 words.

Season Four, Eric/Sookie.  2071 words.
Written for LJ's prompt_in_a_box for the prompt "Is that what you want?" and for LJ's 1_million_words weekend challenge for the prompt "You belong to me." They fit so nicely together for this story. Also, True Blood has apparently taken over my brain. Damn you, Skarsgard, and your awesome turn as Tarzan. Hmm, why am I not writing Tarzan fic then...

Some True Blood fanfic
Surprise
"Aaah, you found the hot tub."
Eric/Sookie, post memory-return. A little fluff.
**
Not Exactly as Planned
The insects chirp and warble from the shelter of the woods and the still, humid air of a Louisiana night mixes with the steam rising from the water, and if he closes his eyes he can almost imagine that he and Sookie are in a tropical rain forest, far from such prosaic concerns as his woman spending half her evenings waitressing in a rundown honky-tonk. Which he has repeatedly failed to convince her to stop doing.
Eric/Sookie, Sequel to "Surprise".
**
Night Terrors
Eric doesn't ask what haunts her this time, but he has heard them all in the last few weeks – the circle of fire encroaching ever closer as she screams; the thud of steel-toed boots cracking her ribs; the sudden blast of cold air on her skin as a beefy hand rips at her dress; the feeble pounding of her hand against a bare back as she's drained.
Eric/Sookie. Sookie has a nightmare, and a visitor.

He stares the little woman down, but it's Sookie's eyes that he feels on him.  Searching, he knows, for the 'good' man inside of him, the one that flew five thousand miles to be at her side when he felt her terror.  The one whose dead heart fluttered at the fear of being too late.  The one who will acquiesce and keep the wolf alive even knowing exactly what kind of friend Alcide Herveaux wants to be to Sookie Stackhouse.
**
Somehow I have written True Blood fic. I have no idea how that happened. Just pretend this takes place sometime post-memory-return and Sookie made the smart choice and stayed with Eric. Thanks to persnickett for some ol' time writers chat and giving good advice while I moaned and threw up my hands a lot. Written for LJ's tv_universe 'Paging Dr. Kildare' challenge (write a fic that includes a medical doctor.)
