Corisande DeVries has fame, skill, and the mega-corporation Industracorp sponsoring her. Polaris Stern has stubbornness, pride, and an engine stolen from Industracorp’s labs. They’re racing against each other to the edge of the universe– but something is waiting for them when they get there. It is vast. It is alive. And it is hungry.

Love In Suburbia | WIP intro.
What is this?: Roman’s attempt at a debut series. The first novel in a trilogy following the lives of six teens after they experience a traumatic night at a house party.
Genre: New Adult, a frankly unholy matrimony between Literary Fiction and Urban Fantasy.
Status: Post-beta editing.
Content Warnings: discussions of sexual assault, discussions of suicide, drug use, alcohol use, themes of addiction, homophobia, racism, classism, terminal illness, suggestive themes, minor character death.
(Short) Synopsis: Two senators’ kids, two starving artists, and two street rats walk into a house party. One of them gets dragged out, unconscious, and wakes up in another’s bed the next morning. The others wake up in their own beds, none the wiser. All of them come out a different person.
What happens when the status quo is challenged? Is it ethical for someone like you to love? Can you forgive a monster?Â
This is my life’s project. My first-ever story, my intended debut, my love letter to the communities that I am and am not a part of. Loyal followers of mine know that I have introduced this project time and time again with mixed reviews, so I’ve been hesitant to talk about it on this blog.
But I can’t not talk about it, especially when we’re nearing the finish line.
This story features:
a love story between two boys of color that isn’t built hot and fast but instead simmering and uncertain.
a girl of color who takes her agency into her own hands for the love of her friends.
an entirely LGBT+ main cast with trans + nonbinary characters.
an exploration of the injustices of the American healthcare system and eugenics.
at least one (1) homoerotic car ride scene.
But what about the characters themselves? The plot at large? What are the Urban Fantasy elements? I’m not comfortable sharing that information on this platform at this time. You can join my WIP discord server to learn more, but due to bad experiences in the past, the stuff I share on tumblr may be vague and intangible. And I’m okay with that. You should learn to be too.

So, what can I tell you? I can tell you that it’s about love. Love between boys, love between girls, love between siblings and strangers and friends and parents and children.
Because in the end, that’s all that matters.
Updates will come.
Taglist: none, currently.

Sixteen-year-old Marshall Gardner is 1) straight-laced, 2) exacting, 3) judgemental, and 4) perfectionistic. And below the surface, kept hidden from the rest of the world, he’s 5) controlled by his obsessions and compulsions, 6) fixated on the number twelve, 7) hopelessly in love with his best (only) friend, and 8) horrendously imperfect.
He’s also 9) universally disliked, 10) the self-made enemy of the former GSA president, 11) just a little too easy to trick, and 12) in trouble.
a story in twelve parts, ft. color symbolism, neurodivergent feelings, trans people, the “locked in a room with the person you hate” trope except it’s not enemies-to-lovers they just hate each other, & at least one ray bradbury reference.
AKA “the short story that got away from me and became 23k words,” AKA boy howdy have YOU ever wanted a twelfth night retelling that fully ignores the gayass love triangle that is the main appeal of twelfth night and focuses instead on the irrelevant background characters and their silly little subplot??? have i got the novella for you!
duodecimal is entirely free & being released in full! all 23k words of it. links & content warnings under the cut.
For @ocappreciationweek I dediced it would be nice to talk about everyone's favorite guy: Kit!
He is Asian-American but moved out to Spain when he was eight years old because of her mother's job as an embassor.
He met Agatha when they were both ten, and have been inseparable since then.
His first boyfriend real serious boyfriend was none other than (you guessed it) Tony! They started going out when Kit was sixteen and Tony was seventeen and this year it'd been their three years anniversary but Tony broke up with him so ;-;
He speaks a total of three languages and is fluent in all three of them! Go Kit!
The first time he dyed his hair was one summer night two years ago as part of a truth or dare game played with some kids in his neighbourhood. The color chosen: bright orange. His parents looked at him in horror but his twin Amari spent the whole day laughing at him and calling him "Cheeto Hair."
The first time he got super mad with Agatha and they didn't speak for weeks was when she got into a fight with another girl who insulted Kit and ended up in the infirmary (Agatha, not the other girl). After those three weeks without a word, they just hugged and went to get ice cream together.
Studying arts in university was fairly easy to do: his parents always supported him with Kit's creativity and they even have some of his best pieces around the house.
Kit loves to watch the cheesiest rom-coms ever and laugh about how pathetic the characters are, but he does really enjoy them at the end (has even shed a few tears). Because in his house nobody shares the hobby, he hangs out once a week with Fay (Agatha's mom) to watch one and make some popcorn.
More under the cut cause this is getting pretty long!
Kit doesn't really snap at nobody if they don't deserve it but if you cross him once or uf you harm some of the people he loves be perpared to meet the coldest version of the guy.
He is pretty atheltic and goes on a run every morning (tried to convince Agatha but failed miserably), no matter the weather (except if it's pouring or snowing, of course). He says it helps clear his mind, and the week Tony broke up with him he used to send Agatha pictures of the sunrise from the highest point of the city.
Milkshakes + fries is his favoriute combination and it reminds him fo all the birthdays parties with friends or just nice chill hang outs with Agatha.
He believes in true love and thinks that if you want to, there is someone for you.
Kit has cut class in high school a total of five times (four of them with Agatha, the other with Imara): one to go to a Pride Parade with her twin and her best friend, another one to go to the cinema cause they were screening his favorite movie, and the other three because of different reasons. Still all the teachers adored him.
He sketches almost daily as a way of having a diary: he gets tangled with words and feelings so he feels like making little doodles o things that happened to him are easier than writing sentences.
And there are so much more but this is already super long so, i guess that's it! Have a cookie for reaching the end, you deserve it!
Wheelhouse: Okay, here’s the thing: TJ likes to think he’s a good friend.
Save Selection: “Mitty wants to know what you’re doing.”
Scramble: Of the two of them, Jens is decidedly the more informed when it comes to stuff like respecting the territory of orange creatures who have been living the walls of your home arena for God-knows-how-long, but Nathan knows he thinks it’s funny when Nathan has to figure out stuff on his own, and Nathan is also the captain, so he’s left high and dry a lot.
Change on the Fly: Nikolai Skvortsov shows up on Tommy’s doorstep in the middle of the night on a May evening, two days after Tommy’s signed a contract that’ll keep him in Denver a long, long time.
Bottle Rocket: There’s a girl in the locker room that Stacy doesn’t recognize.
Respect the Colors: Compared to September in Boston, September in New Jersey is balls.
405 Face-Off: Nick glowers, turning to look back at Hope, skates carrying him in an easy circle.
(The Next One, Chapter 2): The narrative is an easy one to follow: Taylor Jaycox is a soft-spoken, kind-hearted Anglo from the Maritimes, blond and blue-eyed and obsessed with hockey, which is exactly how everyone likes their superstars.
(Dump and Chase, Chapter 3): It becomes pretty obvious pretty quickly that Jack is way out of his depth.
(Dump and Chase, Chapter 7): After Jack leaves the room, Phillip reads a few more chapters, stretches out, and calls Uncle Gene, who isn’t so much interested in Phillip’s report of Gauthier’s coaching style as he is about regaling Phillip with the story of how he won the silver medal in 1984. Again.
