I found an entrance to the deepest parts of the City, patrons. That is what I found.
At the top of the building, ironically, there was an elevator entrance that did not appear anywhere else. There was nowhere for it to be let out besides that top floor. I am not strong enough, even with my exobrace supported my permanently frail muscles, to have climbed down the shaft, so even though that was the obviously cautious choice, I did not.
I am sorry, Weft. But I took the elevator down.

I think this is more complicated that I anticipated. I think I am digging at something too deep.
I combed over that building from top to bottom. In the first few floors a few people had taken over some rooms. I knocked and asked about Dulama, but they had never seen her. They did warn me not to go to far upwards in the building, however.
Of course I did not heed them.

I went to the location I got from the tip. It was a mostly abandoned tower, full of empty rooms and long elevators. Sometimes this happens in the City. Sometimes a place gets left behind.
I thought perhaps that Dulama had hidden there after the assassination. That even if she wasn't there anymore, I could find clues in what she left behind. But I doubt she has ever been to that building now.

Perhaps this was a mistake. Perhaps I should let it go, should move on. It might take another ten years, but I could carve out another niche for myself. I could find another storefront, endear myself to another faction. I could just go, walk away, never find out why this happened. I could just go.
And considering what I stumbled across last night, that might be the right move.

One of my contacts have finally paid off! The Mongrels are not exactly subtle or particularly discerning, but apparently if you sic enough of them on a problem, you'll at least get something. It is not much, but I may finally have a location to investigate. I don't think I'll find Dulama there anymore, but I may be able to glean something.
Perhaps now is a good time to make use of Weft's cloak.

I have begun knitting a fireproof sweater. At least I have plenty of wool.

I have been checking my phone near-constantly for updates from my contacts. The boredom truly is beginning to get to me; I am considering starting a new project on top of the staff.

Sampson keeps his apartment unbearably cold. Apparently he never bothers to turn on the heating, letting his pyromancy passively heat whatever room he's in. As a result, whenever he's out, it's so cold that my hand tremors act up. I have had to wear my exobrace far too often lately.
