i was talking with my friends abt ai art the other day. and the question came up: how is ai art using posted art to train different from a person using the same art as a reference?

if anyone has an answer i’d appreciate it

#pls no rants about how bad ai art is #i’m not pro ai art using others’ art to train without consent #but it’s a valid question #if the ai and the person are both using the art to train themselves #what makes the ai ethically wrong and the person ethically right?? #the person could just as easily train to use the same or similar style to an already working artist #and use those skills to make money which would probably also take away from the artist they trained from #ik ai is on a different scale #but i mean comparably #idk im rambling #ai art #ai art discussion
