Glitchtale’s best (emotional) scene

Let’s just comment a scene that almost made me cry third times alredy. It’s the reunion between Toriel and Chara.

This scene is one of the most emotional ones of the entire Glitchtale series, not just because of it’s quality but also because of it’s deep meaning. I’ll divide the analysis in 2 main parts which will divide in subparts.

QUALITY

We all know Camila Cuevas ( @camilaart ) has evolved as both an artist and a storyteller throughout the years. But, at which point has this become important and noticeable?

Well... let’s just say Camila has improved that much that it’s even a meme. I’ll leave some images of Season 1 AND Season 2 to see the changes:

This is one of the most iconic comparisons of all Glitchtale. The first screenshot is taken from the very first episode Megalomaniac and the second one is from Game Over (Part 1).

As you can see, the improvement is everywhere, I don’t feel like something has to be said but: The backgrounds are way more detailed and feel like actual rooms instead of just flat images. The shadows are very noticeable and feel natural, they give it the anime-ish look Glitchtale deserves. The objects feel like they’re there (look at that pillow, you would want to sleep there).

I’d say there’s a point where Camila’s animation changed drastically and that’s between the third and fourth episode of Season 2.

Here’s a picture of Betty in S2E3 and S2E4:

You can alredy notice less thick lines and more details (yes I know the first picture is a battle scene and the second one is a more detailed-slow scene) yet, it’s noticeable in the episode.

Moving back to the scene, the expression of the characters is perfect for their feelings (which will be explained after):

Chara looks surprised, emotional, he can’t explain what’s going on but he suddently feels relief, something he had inside is finally gone, he is happy to see his family (deep explaining after) even though it feels like they just saw each other.

When you just look at Chara’s expressions you know they correspond to true feelings. The scene goes through entire different emotions to lead to Chara’s happiest moment.

DEEP MEANING

Chara was the first human to fall to the Underground. He was adopted by Asgore and Toriel to become their son (remember this is Glitchtale). He jumped to the Underground for a not very happy reason and ended up finding what would be his family.

Before his death, he couldn’t make it up to the ones he loved, he made a mistake and died, leaving his family behind and them tearing it apart. Because Chara’s death lead to Asriel’s death and then to all Undertale events.

When he came back to Frisk as a “sassy ghost” he saw everything Frisk did, thus including seeing his mum call Frisk my child, seeing her again without being able to say something to her, he was there but couldn’t talk to his family. He also had to watch Asgore fight Frisk and separated from Toriel, it should have been horrible.

But then, wtf r u talking ‘bout¿

Well, Chara was given the opportunity (forced to if you want) to take his place back with the inconvinient of forgetting his multiple journeys with Frisk (and Frisk himself).

Once he woke up, he saw what he thought he had lost forever, his family. The ones he loves, the ones who truly cared about him and the only ones who he truly cared about.

Seeing his parents again made him the happiest boy ever.

Bbbbbbbbut Frisk was also Toriel and Asgore’s childd...

No. That’s where you’re wrong. (I think) Camila likes Chara more than Frisk because Chara was real. He was a human who wanted to die because he had nobody to be with or that took care of him. Instead, he finally encountered what he deserved, a family.

There’s also a big difference between Frisk and Chara. Chara feels like Toriel, Asgore and Asriel are his family. For Frisk, they were just members he cared about more than his code. Unfortunately Frisk wasn’t as human as Chara is (there’s a theory about Frisk not being human at all but that’s not mine, that goes to Jack Fenrir from the Glitchtale Amino’s Theories chat).

I can prove that Camila sees it this way with 3 simple pictures (you’ve alredy seen 2 of them in this post).

Even though Frisk needed to stay away from the ones he loved, Chara would NEVER do that to his family even if he had to do what Frisk had. Don’t missunderstand me, Frisk loved them, he cared for them, but he isn’t Chara. If you look at the scene entirely you can notice how Toriel starts to act like a mother (just like she would do with Asriel and Chara) trying to punish Frisk for having his sword and wanting to go out despite what she says, but Frisk knows that he isn’t what he is pretending to be: Chara, which makes him even more sad (because he knows he can’t have what Chara had, not in a jealous way, but more of wanting to be less of a “non-emotional being”, the PLAYER).

On the other side we have Chara. Chara does care about them in every possible aspect, as a human would. Frisk called them mum and dad because it made him feel less “THE PLAYER” (still caring about them) but Chara feels it natural, just look at the scene:

After years of thinking he had lost what he most cared about, his family, his life, he was back. At first he didn’t know it but, inside, he knew that this encounter was the most important one he had in a while.

Remember this is just my point of view, everything said is pure interpretation of the scene what it transmits to me.

actually it’s clearly XGaster’s mind, he was upset because THEM (Frisk and Chara) were able to Reset in every other AU and nobody was upset about that but when XGaster used his Overwrite something was always wrong.

New Glitchtale’s Songs Analysis

Game Over OST is comming out and it has so many deep stuff on it. We know that songs ain’t a simple thing on Camila, she choses specific songs for each moment, always with deeper meanings to make those moments more dramatic. For example “My last Charade” the perfect song for Frisk beeing substituted by Chara (and that was only a fan song, now we’re talking about the Official Soundtrack).

First of all we’ve got “Eschatonphobia” Term meaning the fear of the end of all things.

In this song we can hear Betty’s theme but brought down with deep bases, meaning that this isn’t a fighting scene. This has to be the start of the fight where Betty reveals a dark secret, we can tell this because of the big drum bases we hear at the end of the song revealing that there are deep words incomming. (Remember the meaning of the song is chosen by Camila so “the fear of the end of all things” isn’t just a funny word).

Second of all we’ve got “Eschatology” Mostly used to speak of the end of the world or the end times

Now this song is way worse than the first one. It starts with Betty’s theme, then switches to Jessica’s theme-ish. Suddently it changes to “My Last Charade” chords + melody kind of transformed meaning that Chara, Betty and Jessica are involved in here. Then Asriel’s theme starts to sound followed by Megalo Strike Back melody just like in “My last Charade”. Then after those melodies we hear the melody of Megalo Strike Back at it’s fullest, then it cuts and we hear Betty’s theme again followed by those beloved dramatic drums that mean someone is either dying or they’re speaking of dark stuff. Then Jessica’s melody comes back but with the drums this time, that become bigger and bigger as the song progresses. The song ends with a crescendo of the melody itself switching to Betty’s theme followed by Megalo Strike Back and at the ultimate climax Asriel’s theme sounds ending the song. One of the best songs in my opinion, I really want to see it in action.

Third of all we’ve got “A Bigger Fear” Now THIS sounds like BATTLE

This song is really COOL. It has lots of stuff on it. First of all it starts with ticks of a Betty fight theme-ish with then a bigger base and cool orchestra with Megalovania orchestral-ish. It’s like a Betty and Megalovania remix. Then we hear Undyne’s theme and then it goes back to Betty. It contains Blood and Bone fragments at the half end of the song and then it ends back with primary theme.

This songs reveal that the episode incomming is gonna be epic. It will have intense fights but most important it will have dark reveals and so much death on it (because of the big drums). Congrats Camila for having such a great OST and my encouragement for those who created it: Nevan Dove, and Rush García. (Sadly we won’t have many NyxTheShield songs in this episode but it is what it is).

REMEMBER, this are just my interpretations of the songs uploaded and aren’t official, you can take them or not :D

Direct question to @camilaart

What are these pictures?

So these are 2 frames found in the Glitched version of Asriel’s clip (the one where he has different stuff and mentions Frisk, y’know)

In one picture we see the city burning from the SAME perspective Betty was in My Promise:

As for the second picture, the only thing that I can tell is that those 2 characters can be: - Frisk - Chara

The other one is Asriel for sure, because the colors match:

As you see, here are the pants and the shoes of these other 2 characters:

You barely can see Chara’s pants but they’re the same as Frisk’s, you can see them in the void scene but since she’s blured out the screen capture doesn’t make much sense.

So, Camila why is there blood on Chara’s body (I assume because Chara has replaced Frisk so it doesn’t make sense if that guy is Frisk). Is that meant to be a Chara vs. Asriel fight where, for X reason Asriel thinks he has to fight for Frisk against Chara (?) Or is it just the Chara vs. Asriel that we’re wating for?... Idk at least notice me if I have something right... @camilaart

I WAS RIGHT

SOOOOooOOooOoooO Camila just admited that what Frisk did in Glitchtale STILL HAPPENED, it’s just that nobody will be able to remember.

IF SO, this would mean that I was right about some stuff:

The “Don’t Forget” Bracelet STILL EXISTS

The Blood Vial STILL EXISTS

Glitchtale’s characters WON’T remember Frisk BUT they will certainly ask themselves WHO THE HECK IS THIS DUD IN THE BRACELET AND WHAT IS HE DOING WITH SANS ON IT

Aaaaand Gaster might notice that the blood taken doesn’t match with Chara’s blood. Same soul =/= Same body

Will they remember Frisk?

FRISK WON’T COME BACK, but there might be a chance that they remember him (since we all know how Cami acts by now and because of the items he left behind) but they wouldn’t be able to bring him back anyway so it would be like yeh poor Froossk we criy everitiem.

What will happen to Glitchtale’s timeline from now on?

Cami has said that Frisk dissapearing as the UNIQUE OWNER (the player) of the timeline has caused the world to function normally from now on. No more saves, no more resets, Chara does not have control over the timeline.

Basically REMOVING THE GAME’S RULES involves:

No more resets, saves or loads. No more values or double values of “Papyrus dead: true / false” No more level ups. No more interface. And by all that no more glitches.

But then, Chara vs. Betty...?

Chara vs. Betty might not even make it. Betty HAS to kill Frisk to END THE TIMELINE, with Frisk gone, Betty isn’t even required in the serie, since all she remembers is fighting against Chara shw must probably think that Chara is the objective now, but we know that Betty isn’t human or monster so since she’s an external powerful beeing she might not even be affected by the name swap. But here I’m going too deep on Glitchtale’s future story so, I’ll leave it here.

As always remember this contains true facts confirmed by Camila itself but it also contains my own interpretation of what these statements mean. So don’t think this will 100% happen or that this is 100% true cause it’s not.

@camilaart I won’t ever stop thanking you for all you do for your community and what you’ve created, it’s just so amazing, we even have a Glitchtale Amino. I just can’t stop thanking you for all the things you do to make Glitchtale real, you fill me with Determination to keep thinking of what have you planned for Glitchtale, thanks yet again and don’t forget to take a long break, your health is more important than animating!

Is Frisk really over?

Well as we’ve seen and as Camila has said, Frisk is gone forever and Chara has replaced him in every scene lived.

There are still a few things that don’t really match with this or need to be explained.

SANS (wow what a weird thing to see in a glitchtale themed theory wowwwoowowo)

As we know there is someone who can’t forget what happened in the past timelines due to a very cool glitch, that guy is Sans:

So, I think that Sans still knows Frisk or might have doubts about Chara BECAUSE he was Frisk’s strongest friend and because of the conversation they had before he “died” which marked him forever. Now why do I think he could be the one to know? Well, the facts speak for themselves.

Sans is currently falling down which means he will soon die and he is the only one who could know something about Frisk that’s why Camila keeps Sans “dead” or in “coma” cause he is the key to unlock Frisk back (?).

I personally have seen this in other series such as “La casa de papel” where the only one who knows who the main thief is, is in a coma until the end of the serie.

If not why would Camila put that much effort on bringing back Sans but not yet or simply bringing him back to die again?

The most important part: WHAT whould make Sans remember?

Well, Camila has left a few items that are directly related to Frisk only. Those beeing: The blood vessel that Gaster took from Frisk right behore he went to the void (I don’t think this could’ve been replaced by Chara’s blood because they have different physical bodies and all that) aaaaaaaand the Don’t Forget bracelet which is a physical form of something and we know that the only thing replaced was the person, not the items created.

Well there’s no need to say that it’s a direct mention to Frisk when it says “DON’T FORGET”.

Also the blood is zoomed in like it has some importance on the serie, it wouldn’t make sense if Camila just erased that or replaced it like nothing.

Another fact:

At the end of My Promise we see a glitched version of the scene that takes place after Asriel speaks to himself and flowey, the thing is, in the original scene Asriel HAS a heartlocket on the table and doesn’t say a word and in the glitched version Asriel speaks and does not have the heartlocket:

As you can see there’s something wrong here. There are also scenes which show the city burning as if the city never existed cause “Frisk” never left the Underground... (I just noticed this is cannon to my Genocide Really Continues theory lyl I’m editing it NOW).

Well these are just speculations of what could happen, remember NONE of this is true if @camilaart doesn’t say so.

Speaking of GENOCIDE CONTINUES...

The Genocide Continues is the most famous theory about Glitchtale and the most important one so far which was 97% correct according to Camila. This theory explains how the game is trying to fix itself and other important stuff (which you should really read if you want to understand what I’m basing on here).

Genocide REALLY continues

It’s true that Bête Noire (Betty) wants to kill Frisk to end the timeline but there are other facts that show us that the Genocide Route isn’t over: I thought about this long ago when we knew Frisk leveled up from one to two. So, as we know the game has “2 values”:

Pacifist Route: true Genocide Route: true

But, so far we’ve seen that Frisk didn’t really have issues during their travel on the Underground, yes, they fought against Gaster and they had to deal with Chara (which was the old enemy put by “the game” to stop Frisk from the Pacifist Route) but this isn’t about the enemies she encountered like Chara/Betty. When I mean ISSUES, I’m saying that the Pacifist Route was executing correctly without characters dissapearing / things glitching even if the game had 2 values for EACH character:

Papyrus dead: true Papyrus alive: true

WHICH ROUTE IS MORE POWERFUL?

When I say this I mean: Even if the game has 2 values for each character it shows their pacifist state where they’re alive / they don’t hate or attack Frisk. THE QUESTION HERE IS WHY? Well, since the timeline has a “host”: Frisk (even if he cannot interact with the timeline anymore, he’s still the “owner” of it) there HAS TO BE be another value that says:

FRISK LV 1: true = PACIFIST: TRUE FRISK LV >1: true = PACIFIST: FALSE = GENOCIDE

IF FRISK LEVELS UP TO 19 THE GAME WILL THINK IT’S IN A GENOCIDE ROUTE?

At first I thought YES and then I thought NO but then I thought WAIT, MAYBE YES?

Why? Well first of all I didn’t have many facts that proved it but with last episode I got it clear. First of all I thought that Frisk leveling up would get characters killed faster OR showing them in the Underground for a few seconds with a glitch because the game thinks there’s a Genocide Route going on, their personality would change for a few moments, beeing sad or aggresive against Frisk. Then I thought ok, this would probably happen but do we have facts about this so far? NO, then my theory was over. BUT NOW:

FRISK GAVE CHARA THEIR SOUL JUST LIKE AT THE END OF A GENOCIDE ROUTE

Sure you might say that Frisk dissapeared to give their position to Chara and that is different from how it happens in a Genocide Route. But I tell you that that might work in-game but speaking in “code” language the game detects that there’s a Chara alive with a different soul from her original (cause the game KNOWS that Chara gave her soul as a vessel for Asriel’s current soul).

So, if the Pacifist Route was the one beeing shown so far because it had more pacifist events than genocide ones: What will happen now that the game has a Chara alive with another soul that isn’t her’s just like at the end of a Genocide Route?

Will the game swap the preferences? It certainly DID swap alredy: Betty has gotten stronger suddently which could be related to the game putting more effort on the Genocide Route trying to show more genocide events. But that’s what I can come up so far.

I JUST GOT NEW INFO

IF CHARA REPLACES FRISK WHY IS FRISK REMOVED IN OTHER SCENES:

New glitched version:

WHY IS THIS CHANGING?

Also, as we see Frisk is replaced in every memory by Chara but he is also REMOVED from other memories where he hurts the ones he love.

At the end... Does this make sense?

It certainly does, Frisk repaired the timeline becuase he is removed in every scene he levels up, so every scene that involves the battle of Frisk vs. Betty is sort of weird now. If Chara doesn’t level up she is not able to match Betty’s Fear+Hate so everything is just messy. Also Asriel forgeting his heartlocket... BACK HOME? Isn’t that his house now? mmmm... I really can’y come up with more so this will last as lightings on the minds of those who don’t really get what’s going on.

ANYWAY THIS IS JUST A THEORY AND REMEMBER NONE OF THIS IS TRUE (except the Genocide Continues theory mentioned at the top which, well, you alredy know) IF IT ISN’T CONFIRMED BY IT’S UNIQUE OWNER CAMILA CUEVAS.

IT APPEARS I WAS QUITE RIGHT ON SOME STUFF, CHARA WAS THE ONE WHO WOULD “SAVE” ASRIEL. Or at least try to...

Also whoever reads this, don’t take everything 100% true because there’s some wrong stuff about “Chara comes back” obviously Cami made sure Chara came back but she took something from us, the thing is I don’t remember what is it.

WAIT... COULD CHARA COME BACK?

First of all I don’t want this to be just another “UUUH BUT CHARA DIDN’T DIE SHE WILL COME BACK BECUS WE ALL LUV HER”. This is the third version I make for this theory since the 2 past ones were disarmed by my own. Why? Because Camila didn’t answer to the question I was waiting for yet. Having said that let’s get into it:

In the final scenes of Love Part 2, Frisk says that they might know how to make Asriel come back, by using love. And suddently I thought; okay, they all love Asriel, but who loves him strongly enough to match the power of Hate and destroy it just like it happened with Sans?

I mean, when Sans was full of Hate, Papyrus made him remember who he really was with all their good memories (if not it would’ve been impossible, cami said this as well.)

Who can match this emotional remembers for the case of Asriel? The only one who I can think of is Chara. As we have seen in Glitchtale:

They spent so many good moments with each other and it would be awesome if this was true.

Now let’s move on the “DIS THEORY IS IMPOSSIV’L” part, or “THE HARD PART”:

Chara is now soulless and is currently in the void. How could she manage to come back? WELL…

You are probably thinking of the interdimentional machine but that would be too easy for Camila. Also to prove that it would be quasi-impossible let’s pay attention to this image:

So, if Sans had tried to make Gaster come back a couple of hundred times it would be almost impossible to make Chara come back AND: Chara is now soulless meaning if she managed to come back she would just dissapear again.

Now let’s see how could she come back. As I’ve posted, Frisk is generating Hate (as we can see here AND proved by Camila):

So, Frisk is generating Hate, we can assume that it’s related to the fact that Frisk is using their “Genocide Powers”, there might be 2 types of Determination, Bad Determination and Good Determination.

(note: good and bad are just used because you get one or another depending on how the owner of the DT acts).

Good Determination is meant to be powerful, focussed on defense and on how much you can stand still, this would be the Frisk we’ve seen so far until now.

Bad Determination is meant to be powered/boosted by Hate generating more of it. It’s the strongest of the two but this one has consequences. This determination is the one that powered Chara plus the fact that Chara was filled with extra Hate.

By the way, music played is a Megalo Strike Back remix wich was Chara’s theme, this one is called Frisk’s Genocide theme and when Cami choses a specific music for a scene we all know that it’s for a reason. That song and the Hate facts prove that Frisk is using their Genocidal powers.

NOW, WHAT MADE CHARA POSESS FRISK IN THE FIRST TIME? THE HATE OF THE GENOCIDE PATH.

Frisk is currently running out of time so, why wouldn’t they become a GenoFrisk to call Chara from the void. It’s worth trying, right? So, if Chara came back to posess Frisk and absorb the Hate generated, she would HAVE a soul.

THE FINAL AND IMPOSSIBLE PROBLEM

Chara filled with Hate could completely destroy Betty but, why would she? Their opinions are quite the same:

Chara wants to destroy the timeline, to erase it, because it’s VERY glitched and it will end destroyed by it’s own glitches.

Betty wants to destroy it because she was created to revert the pacifist timeline speaking in “game terms”, speaking in “story terms” Betty wants to destroy it because she was created by Fear to make sure that humans and monsters would NEVER live in peace.

I just can’t come up with something better but I still think that there are important things in this “theory/post/explaination” thing. I hope that after reading this someone can come up with something better!

(Note for Cami if you ever read this: I loved this episode and I just can’t stop thinking of how could it continue, I love your work and your art, also mention the MASSIVE quality upgrade. I hope that this time you get less rushed than last time but heh there will always be idiots who will.)

WAIT... COULD CHARA COME BACK?

First of all I don’t want this to be just another “UUUH BUT CHARA DIDN’T DIE SHE WILL COME BACK BECUS WE ALL LUV HER”. This is the third version I make for this theory since the 2 past ones were disarmed by my own. Why? Because Camila didn’t answer to the question I was waiting for yet. Having said that let’s get into it:

In the final scenes of Love Part 2, Frisk says that they might know how to make Asriel come back, by using love. And suddently I thought; okay, they all love Asriel, but who loves him strongly enough to match the power of Hate and destroy it just like it happened with Sans?

I mean, when Sans was full of Hate, Papyrus made him remember who he really was with all their good memories (if not it would’ve been impossible, cami said this as well.)

Who can match this emotional remembers for the case of Asriel? The only one who I can think of is Chara. As we have seen in Glitchtale:

They spent so many good moments with each other and it would be awesome if this was true.

Now let’s move on the “DIS THEORY IS IMPOSSIV’L” part, or “THE HARD PART”:

Chara is now soulless and is currently in the void. How could she manage to come back? WELL...
