hey everyone, i’ve been thinking really extensively about this and i’ve decided i’m going to revamp sira into a different character. i’ll be changing her faceclaim and overhauling her backstory, but she will still remain the innkeeper at yeyun inn! thank you for the love you’ve shown sira during her stay.

⟡ .. from ( x ) & @semmiyh
working at yeyun inn, tucked away in naminsan forest, sira is used to extended hours being spent purely in the presence of herself and only herself. consequently, she’s picked up a bad habit of speaking out loud to herself and especially so when she’s trying to work out what she needs to get done for the day. having her tasks verbalized helps her memorize the seemingly endless list that she needs to get done.
when she announces that she needs to go the post office, she hadn’t meant for it to be directed to the other woman who was sitting at one of the picnic tables on the edges of the forest and the entrance of town, but she completely understands how the other misunderstood that to be the case.
“oh god, i’m sorry,” sira blurts, embarrassed as she waves her hands. “i was only talking to myself actually. i ordered some new towels online and they’re apparently at the post office now. i wanted to pick them up right away instead of waiting for the mailman to come by with it.”
“of course, i’d be more than happy to have an extra hand,” she explains in a hurry, “but i couldn’t disturb you during your lunch.”

⟡ .. @yhhmb & the employee of the month
it’s the final night of the spring equinox festival. the last of sira’s energy has been spent managing the usual influx of activity and customers at yeyun inn and volunteering to clean up the area once the festival officially came to a close. she’s looking forward to retiring back to her room, maybe grabbing a hot cup of tea if inna was still around and unwinding with one of the books she bought from bimikil the other week.
the lobby is blissfully quiet as she makes her usual nightly rounds: straightening furniture, sweeping the floors, and replenishing the brochure stand. it’s wonderfully routine, her mind settling as second nature kicks in. she makes her way over to the hot springs, intending to just lock up the entrance when she sees a figure in the water. she squints and walks closer to see who it is and finds that it’s hamin. but it’s not just hamin, it’s hamin with his eyes closed. a small spike of worry pushes her out further towards the pool of water. is he just resting his eyes? or is he asleep? or worse... is he passed out?
“hey, hamin, i was just gonna lock up, but—”
she doesn’t get to finish her sentence as she sees him nodding off, sliding slowly down until his head is completely submerged in the water. before she knows it, she’s rushing over with barely enough time to throw off her shoes as she runs into the springs. it’s not particularly deep, but heaving the young man up into a sitting position when he’s basically dead weight is still a struggle—how is he still knocked out?—and the process has her drenched in water as she fumbles around. he keeps flopping over, so she eventually drags him over to the edge pulling his upper half up onto dry land, his legs still in the water.
at least he’s not drowning now. she leaves him there for a moment to grab some towels from the entrance. she wraps one around herself, another she drops onto hamin’s chest, and the other she tucks underneath his head.
Tumblr media
she knows the displeasure on her face is apparent without needing to look at her reflection as she grumbles, “oh my god, you are seriously unbelievable.”

most nights, sira appreciates the gentle quiet that surrounds the inn. it never is completely silent: the steady rumbling of the hot springs and the calls of the wildlife in the forest don’t allow for it, but it makes for the perfect white noise as she burns the midnight oil, filling in the blank spaces between her thoughts and putting her soul at ease.
well, at least it usually does. tonight, the tranquility does little to ease the thoughts rapidly pacing through her mind, stealing away what otherwise would have been a perfectly restful sleep. and, oh, what a pathetic thing to be keeping her awake—memories of her ex and the resentment that still runs through her despite her best efforts to deny that she feels anything about them anymore.
who needs them? i do, i do, i do.
she doesn’t realize that she’s dozing off and slips into a dream—her vision filled with hazy image of yunhwa flowers at the end of the boowan hiking trail. sunlight filters through, the day is perfect, but there’s a dread in her heart that weighs her down as she watches the petals fly up into the air without her.
she can barely see their face but she knows it’s them. they’re wearing that sad smile that she’s been dreading and she knows what’s coming.
“i’ve gotten an offer for a job... but.”
she starts the way that she remembers that she did. “i know.” she’s always been one to be be one step ahead, never caught by surprise, life planned out down to the smallest detail. “it’s in the city, isn’t it?”
“yes, it is. and i’ll have to move out if i accept the offer, but i was—”
she cuts them off, but the words that come next take her by surprise, and she wants to stop herself from saying them but it’s like she’s not really in her own body and she’s watching this exchange from afar. “don’t go,” she says, her voice shaking with raw emotions and she recoils at the sound. “you’re one of the only ones that i have left. i mean, i just... i have my family and it’s not like i don’t have friends here, you’re just... you’re supposed to stay here with me.”
they look at her, tenderness laced in their eyes, the expression that always had her heart skipping a beat. “okay,” they say, reaching for her hand. “i’ll stay.”
the sharp feeling of falling startles her awake and she finds herself laying securely in her bed as she last remembers. right, maybe no more soju right before bed then. can’t be dealing with that sentimental shit when she’s literally just trying to sleep.
she gets up and walks out into the lobby, deciding that since she’s up that she might as well do some housekeeping until she tires herself out enough to sleep without any further disturbances. in no time, she’s absorbed into dusting and polishing the wood furniture when the sound of her name catches her ear. bewildered that anyone else would be around at this hour, she turns to look at the source and sees a familiar face she had not expected to see for a while, looking as despairing as she currently feels.
“oh, yunhee,” she says, momentarily at a loss for words before simply closing the distance and pulling her into a tight hug. “i’m so sorry.”
she wonders why she’s here, figures that she would have travelled all the way back to yunhwa to see her sister instead at home but decides it’s not worth it to ask her now. she strokes her hair in gentle, soothing motions, silent as she absorbs the situation. the first big heartbreak—fitting, she thinks to herself, misery love company after all.
Tumblr media
“come on.” she pulls away, taking yunhee’s hand in hers and leading her out of the lobby back towards her room. “tell me everything that happened. i have ice cream and snacks in the fridge. we can stress eat together.”

⋆: ― ∘  it’s with tears in her eyes and a void in her chest that, in her frenzy, yunhee buys a bullet train ticket for that same night. a round trip departing within thirty minutes and returning sunday night. it cost her the savings she’s made in three months, but she didn’t care at the moment. all she wanted to do was to leave the place painted with memories of them.
she packs a light bag, not paying much mind to the clothes she was shoving inside for her blurry vision didn’t allow her to see further past her nose. the student comes to a halt, however, when her fingers curl around a jacket two sizes too big for her. one that wasn’t hers and his scent on it was still ever present. it was in every corner of her room, as if he had made it his own.

yoogeonyh:
disturbing @sirayh
the sound of a flimsy pamphlet sliding underneath his door is all yoogeon needs to hear to know that the day is starting. and not in a good way. he’s not sure why sira - yeyun’s innkeeper - is so incessant on stuffing brochures about the insipid town into his room, and so early in the mornings too at that. he’s sure that she’s aware that he doesn’t spare as much as a glance at them considering he always tosses them into the trash bin next to the door as soon as he can before leaving for the day or weekend.
that being said, sira was one of the few individuals yoogeon did remember from the older days despite not having interacted with her much. her family pride in running yeyun inn was known throughout the town and taking into account how  much he remembered sira loving the town, it made some sense why she would try advertising the town’s fortes to him. except, he would’ve expected her to stop with the few brief conversations they’ve had that he really wasn’t interested when he’d say, “i’m not interested.”
so at this point in the morning, he’s already forgotten that the sheet of paper in his hand is the brochure she had slipped into his room that very morning as he’s walking into the lobby. in all honesty, he wasn’t trying to be petty - besides the fact that he has been a few times when he was fed up with the random pamphlets - when he headed straight to the trashcan by the door to toss it out. that’s when he spots something - a spider- crawling up the wall and immediately reacts, slapping the brochure flat against the wall.
he takes a glance to make sure the small intruder is dead before turning to drop it into the can. it’s only when he looks up and catches sira’s gaze from behind the desk that he realizes how he looks in that moment. the silence is awkward and there’s no denying that yoogeon wishes he would’ve tossed the sheet away in his room instead as he holds her stare.
“there’s uh
 a dead spider on it
” yoogeon decides to explain straightforwardly, truly unsure of what reaction he’ll incur from the older female.

it's not very often that the young people who leave yunhwa actually ever come back. the population has been dwindling for years now. yunhwa is too small, too quaint, too boring, especially when compared to the likes of seoul and busan which constantly seem to be pushing towards the edge of modernity, pulsing with energy and youth. sira understands the appeal, was dazzled by it briefly when she spent the majority of her years in university in busan, but she simply cannot understand how so many people who were born and raised in the flower laced town could despise it so deeply. sure yunhwa has its flaws, but what place doesn't? if only they could see it through her eyes, even if ever so briefly, and just stay for once.
of her handful of peers, she had certainly not expected han yoogeon to return. she was almost certain she had fallen asleep right at the front desk and was in the middle of a dream when she saw him walk through the front door of yeyun and inquire about renting a room. she must have been gawking at him that day, manners thrown out the window in her utter bewilderment. she's hit with a sense of deja vu as she gawks at him once more while he's using one of the many brochures she's stuffed into his room to slap something against the lobby wall. he has the decency at least to explain himself, and a tense moment rests between them as she looks for the right words to say.
“right," she enunciates, narrowing her eyes at the man before her, “a spider.”
“you know, it hasn't escaped me that you've been tossing out the brochures i've been... sharing with you since you started living here in yeyun. it seems like you haven't kept a single one of them,” she says matter-of-factly. she’s not angry, though she’s acutely aware that the furrow of her brow might indicate otherwise. “not that i necessarily expected you to, but...”
sira trails off, and she wonders for moment what exactly she was expecting for yoogeon to do with her insistent advertising of the town. she never expected him to change his mind so quickly and so easily... but still, if there was even a slight chance that these brochures held a sight he hadn't seen in his time in yunhwa, then maybe he could come around.
“i’m sure you probably don’t believe me,” she continues, “but there are actually fun—and new—things to see and do around here. just because things are slow doesn’t mean we’re at a total standstill.”

hey, with the spring equinox festival event, i thought it'd be fun to open some prompts and plots with sira since she’s the yeyun inn innkeeper. here’s a few ideas that i’ve come up with. if there are any that you’re interested in, go ahead and reply with which one you’d like. if the one you wanted is taken, feel free to im me and we can plot something similar. and of course, if there are any other ideas you have please let me know. i’m super open to plotting and brainstorming (even though i am very slow, i’m so sorry.)
you got carried away with trying all the yunhwa liquor at the festival and stumbled your way into the inn thinking it was your house. now sira is trying to push the bill onto you but you’re confused as to why you have to pay to sleep in your own house.
sira knows you’re trouble, so she’s been telling everyone that the inn is haunted in order to keep you from making a mess of the place. unfortunately for her, that does not stop you.
there’s someone that you’re desperately trying to avoid seeing at the festival, and you run into the inn for refuge. sira agrees reluctantly to hide you in one of the free rooms for the time being.
(must be stall or establishment owners) you’re trying to bribe sira into letting you rent out a room at the inn in exchange for the wares you’re selling at the festival. it may or may not be going well.
you somehow passed out in the hot springs and you wake up, wrapped in like five towels, on the floor with a very miffed and soaked sira glaring at you.
more to be added...

keyuyh:
a nod. he’d only caught onto the tail end of their conversation, but it’s enough to get a good idea of what happened - and he recognizes the type. it’s all too familiar (though quite usually he’s the one observing on the other side of things, with his father discussing offers and nudging him to watch closely). “it might not be my place, but if she’s turned down all of that, do you think the money really matters to her? if money is all you have to offer, it might be better for you to invest your time somewhere else,” he tells them quietly, setting down the bill he had fetched, and he dips his head into a bow. “thank you for coming to yunhwa inn.”
retreating from the table, he turns his gaze towards sira. he’s never heard her sound so firmly annoyed before, but it makes sense - if there’s anything that he’s realized over the past weeks of working here it’s that sira loves this place with strength. “does that happen a lot?” he asks in a worried hush.
she goes to takes a seat at the couch where the teahouse meets the inn, a sigh escaping her the second her back hits the rest. she doubts herself for the briefest moment, wonders if maybe the inn really would be better off commercialized. investors do have the money after all to pour into the place—maybe they could finally upgrade every single bed, table, and chair with newer, fancier models—advertise not only to the residents of korea but also to travelers overseas. but would they really put love into it, honor the long, rich history of yeyun and yunhwa? there’s no chance, not when the only things in their eyes are won signs.
she looks at keyu when he speaks and manages a tired, yet cheeky smile. “yeah, what can i say? this place is pretty damn great,” she says. “my family were seriously thinking ahead when they built this place here. investors are always saying how ideal it is for business with the hot springs and how close it is to the hiking trail and all.”
“i might not have a lot of money to invest into yeyun, at least not all at once, even though i think it deserves it,” sira continues, a distant almost forlorn glaze in her eyes. “but well, what was that one phrase you taught me the other day? bu pa man jiu pa ting?” she winces, sure that she’s butchered the pronunciation to hell and back. “don’t be afraid of growing slowly, only be afraid of standing still. i haven’t stopped thinking about it since you told it to me... even though i still can’t really say it right.”

“Sorry but I’m new around here, would you mind giving me pointers?”
Tumblr media
sira had heard that shin farms would be hiring a new farmhand, though admittedly she expected someone a little more... built than minjung. she wonders briefly if the shin family owes a favor to someone, or maybe they were just that desperate for extra hands around the farm—not that she’s discounting minjung when they’ve just met, but her petite stature just doesn’t seem to suit the farm. even so, hopefully she’s able to keep up with the workload.
“of course,” she says, flashing her a gentle smile as she walks over to the veritable wall of crates in front of them. “i’m yun sira, the innkeeper of yeyun inn. we usually just order fruits from the farm since we don’t really have a full restaurant at the inn. we do have a teahouse though, so we serve some small refreshments on the side.”
she scans the crates and eventually spots the ones marked with “y.i.,” shorthand for yeyun inn. “ah, there, those are the ones i’m looking for.” she heaves one of them into her arms, letting out a grunt when the full weight hits her. “then we’ll just load these onto that hand truck i brought over there. i’ve already settled the bill earlier. so now’s just the heavy work.”

⟡ .. lady m
"a spinster?” sira splutters indignantly, just about ready to fling her laptop across her room. everyone at one point or another has been subjected to the biting words of lady m, even sira, though it’s been some time since her name has been spoken by the disembodied voice—the last being when she inherited yeyun from her parents. she had lived in relative peace (secretly reading lady m’s gossip forum out of morbid curiosity) until today.
“just because i’m single now doesn’t make me a spinster.” she’s not sure who exactly she’s trying to convince at this point. “i’m perfectly capable of finding myself a spouse. so what if it hasn’t been in my list of goals for the past few years?”
she leans back into her desk chair and just glares at the screen. she simmers silently before her thoughts slow down from frenetic to introspective. “well,” she mumbles, “she did say i’m one of the top three major hotties and that i have a youthful feminine glow. i guess that’s pretty nice.”
boy, have her standards hit rock bottom.

yhkangdae:
Tumblr media
often times, when young people returned to yunhwa from the big city, they were dejected. sadden by the lost of their dream, hurt by having to return to the small town of their childhood. but not kangdae. for the first time in years, he felt full. his smile was wide as he spotted his mom at the bus stop, and did not hesitate to hug the older woman. it was good to be back, even if he could hear the whispers of the town gossips not far from them.
but as many things, the man doesn’t take it to heart. much like an overgrown puppy, negative thoughts melt from his mind. gossip was of course the foundation of a small town, he knows the old women will coo and offer to bring him sidedishes in a few days.
which lead to kangdae lounging flat on his back of the floor of the front room of the farmhouse. any shame or regret he may of felt from leaving the city was gone. instead for the first time in months he feels at ease. his mother and grandmother had left for the market, leaving the man to unpack by himself ( his boxes remained untouched ) he lazily reaches out for one of the sliced pears settled on the coffee table when the door swings open.
ah. no sense of privacy, it really was yunhwa.
“ sira nonna,” his voice gets a bit high, confused by the sudden arrival of his slightly out of breath friend, “i see you haven’t changed.”
he chuckles, before holding out the slice of pear towards her, an idiotic  smile on his lips. “ you want one? fresh from our field.”
Tumblr media
it’s been a long time since she’s been inside the shin house properly, only ever speaking to kangdae’s mother and grandmother around sunjaro street whenever she sees them. she’s hit with a wave of nostalgia when she steps all the way through the threshold of the door, memories of jetting all around yunhwa while keeping kangdae company as he ran errands going through her mind. she has half a mind to sass him, but honestly, secretly, she’s a little ecstatic to see him around again.
“i should hope not,” she says, unable to control the grin growing on her face. “i have been trying very hard to keep my youth after all.”
she walks over to him, plucking the pear out of his hands and thanking him as she sits down next to him. “as expected,” she remarks once she takes a bite out of it, “shin farms always has the best produce.”
sira is silent for a long moment, chewing, soaking in the fact that a familiar face, one that she’d spent so many hours of her adolescence with before, is actually here—and by the looks of all the boxes littering the room—here to stay. she had always thought that kangdae would eventually adjust himself to the city, find himself some rich, too good for a small town spouse who had a thing for buff volleyball players, and never come back again.
she looks at kangdae, just stares for a little, before saying, “so, what the hell are you doing back here? you actually miss being covered in dirt all the time or something?”

“You look vaguely familiar
”
Tumblr media
one of sira’s strong suits is being savvy with money, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have her vices. bimikil market square is one of her favorite places and biggest enemies; the amount of money she’s spent there... she’s never actually kept track in fear of being confronted with the actual number. who’s to blame her anyways? she could be doing worse, spending all of her money on mass produced items from gigantic corporations. at least here, she can rest easy knowing she’s lining the pockets of the well deserving, honest working people of yunhwa.
which is how she finds herself once again making her way over to mimi’s mini modiste, ready to spend more money on clothes and accessories that she definitely does not need but desperately wants. she greets the stall owner, yunmi, with a wave and laughs good-naturedly at the young woman’s comment.
“aw, come on now,” sira says, “is that any way to treat your biggest customer? i’ll have you know i used to babysit you and your sister from time to time back in the day. i wonder if you were even old enough to remember that.”

“It’s been so long since we’ve last parted, hm? We have some catching up to do.”
Tumblr media
it was originally unintentional, but one way or another sira had become an older sister figure for many of the kids in town. it makes sense: she's one of the few people of her generation who actually ended up sticking around, most having fled the minute they had a college degree under the belts. she never minded the role. it's refreshing actually, feeling looked up to and responsible, especially since she doesn't have any blood related siblings of her own. yunhee is no exception to this. sira always adored the girl and her sibling, for reasons more than just their remarkability as twins. she has a spark in her that sira hopes never goes out.
but when she hears the mumblings around town about yunhee’s injury and sees her coming into the inn with a walking boot and crutches under her arms, she worries. she worries that yunhee, like so many others who return, have come to resent yunhwa, once sailing through open seas, wide and promising, but suddenly anchored down and trapped into one spot.
she wants to tell them that anchors are what keep ships safe out in the ocean—they keep them from drifting away out into dangerous waters, give them a moment to breathe and recollect until they’re ready to make their way, but she knows that these words won’t reach them yet, not until they’ve gotten the jitters out of their bones and the anger from their veins.
“so it has. it feels just like yesterday we were sobbing over bad romcoms and ice cream,” sira says instead. “i don’t have any ice cream now but kangdae just delivered a fresh batch of persimmons. why don’t you head to my room and i’ll peel some for us to eat?”

oh my, hi everyone. there's so many new members and i can't wait to get around to plotting with you all. i'm still taking memes from the ice breakers starters if you would like to send some in to yunhwa’s #1 fan and owner of yeyun inn, yun sira, to get the ball rolling. she’s been around yunhwa all her life so we can assume pre-established relationships if your muse has been around a while too. i’ve got a few memes and replies to catch up on which i’ll be working on for the next few hours. feel free to drop by my ims too because i’m always open for plotting.
