Simba listened intently remembering the word that had been mentioned. "I know. I was just...waiting to see if you knew it was missing." At least he didn't have to do a trick for his food this time. "Please." the cub said wondering if Rufus meant just the word itself or if he meant the sentence in its entirety. Might as well say the whole thing. "Can we go now...please?" His tail swayed in anticipation as a small smile graced his maw hoping that the word would get things moving because at this point he was probably going to grow an entire mane if they didn't get going soon. "Please?" Maybe saying it three times would make the human move faster...

"No, Simba," Rufus corrected. "The polite way is to tack on a please at the end. You don't have to mean it, but people like hearing it. You're more likely to get your way by using it with certain types of people. Eventually you may have the clout to discard it, but you should at least know manners for when you need them. Try it out." He waited for Simba's second attempt, ready to lead the cub to his promise reward.

Simba merely smiled at the meerkat letting his comment sink in. Though deep in his heart he knew that couldn't be possible all of the time it was still a nice attempt when his mood wasn't the greatest. "Thanks, Timon."

Simba's more attached to Timon than Pumbaa since the meerkat seems to be the more authoritative one of the duo and isn't (seemingly) afraid to put his foot down when it comes to the cub's antics (which vaguely reminds him of Mufasa). Timon also makes him feel safe which is why the lion uses him as a 'security blanket' whenever he sleeps.
