I talk a lot about forgiveness and how you’re valid if you forgive the person who hurt you but also that you don’t have to forgive them if you don’t want to. Society pushes on us that forgiveness is part of healing.
And you know what? They’re sort of right. Just not about the person you should forgive.
The person you should forgive is you. So many of us hold shame and blame ourselves for the trauma or for how we needed to survive. And it’s okay to forgive yourself. You deserve it.
No matter how hard it’s been, you’ve been the one to pull yourself through. However you did it. You’re allowed to forgive yourself. I promise.
