Maybe A.I. can make a song that's indistinguishable from what I can do. Maybe even a better song. But, to me, that doesn't matter-that's not what art is. Art has to do with our limitations, our frailties, and our faults as human beings. It's the distance we can travel away from our own frailties. That's what is so awesome about art: that we deeply flawed creatures can sometimes do extraordinary things. A.I. just doesn't have any of that stuff going on. Ultimately, it has no limitations, so therefore can't inhabit the true transcendent artistic experience. It has nothing to transcend! It feels like such a mockery of what it is to be human. A.I. may very well save the world, but it can't save our souls. That's what true art is for. That's the difference. So, I don't know, in my humble opinion ChatGPT should just fuck off and leave songwriting alone.

"you think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read. It was Dostoevsky and Dickens who taught me that the things that tormented me most were the very things that connected me with all the people who were alive, or who ever had been alive. Only if we face these open wounds in ourselves can we understand them in other people."
- James Baldwin for Life magazine, 1963

Imagine that you are a very small chicken.
You just hatched. You just opened your eyes for the first time.
All ducks are yellow.
And you too...
But you are much more beautiful than the rest.
You are special.

Love doesn’t change though the years do. Sometimes it can be difficult to remember that people in photos from bygone eras had the same concerns, hopes, dreams, and loves that we do. These two smiles say it all: happiness, contentment, and love. And so does the sweet inscription: "Like this for always, Freddie." https://www.instagram.com/p/CpZwZcxv3TQ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Just a few photographs captured by Joseph Szabo, a teacher at Malverne High School in Long Island whose photography career blossomed from a simple idea of bringing a camera into his classroom. It was meant to be a teaching prop, but he found people were fascinated by his captures of rebellious youth at personal moments. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cneo7Q9PLgd/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

"There will come a time when all of us are dead. All of us. There will come a time when there are no human beings remaining to remember that anyone ever existed or that our species ever did anything. There will be no one left to remember Aristotle or Cleopatra, let alone you. Everything that we did and built and wrote and thought and discovered will be forgotten and all of this will have been for naught. Maybe that time is coming soon and maybe it is millions of years away, but even if we survive the collapse of our sun, we will not survive forever. There was a time before organisms experienced consciousness, and there will be time after. And if the inevitability of human oblivion worries you, I encourage you to ignore it. God knows that's what everyone else does."

"My aunt passed away many years ago. Among her belongings was an old album that she was very fond of. The album remained lost for many years, buried somewhere in a storeroom in the basement. It was found again recently during a clean-up. As a young girl growing up in a small town in the 1950s and 60s, she was completely enamored by movies. Much to the disapproval of her mother, she spent her free time writing fan mail to movie stars and over a time, built up quite a collection of autographed pictures and letters. Sadly, most of it is now in a bad shape but I managed to salvage a few that am posting in this thread. I'm sure she would have loved to show off her collection. So, here it is..." - Twitter @samjawed65 Pictured: Shammi Kapoor, 1962; Dharmendra, 1962; Kamini Kaushal, 1953; Biswajit, n.d.; Sadhana, 1964, Asha Parekh, 1963; Sunil Dutt, 1962; Rajendra Kumar, 1961; Saira Banu; Raaj Kumar, 1961. . . #shammikapoor #dharmendra #kaminikaushal #biswajit #sadhana #ashaparekh #sunildutt #rajendrakumar #sairabanu #raajkumar #bollywood #oldbollywood #1960s #vintagebollywood #indiancinema #hindicinema https://www.instagram.com/p/CjcjFPevV7P/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The war will end, and leaders will shake hands, and the old lady will still wait for her martyred son, and that woman will wait for her beloved husband, and those children will wait for their heroic father. I don’t know who sold our homeland, but I have seen who paid the price.
