The vast majority of real life animals do not purr. They simply do not. Some make similar noises, perhaps even for similar reasons, but most animals Do Not Purr.
Minecraft player hybrids do though, all the time, in fanart and in fanfic. If the animal they’re a hybrid of does not purr and yet the player does, what on earth does that mean?? Why do they purr?????
Simple: other players think purring is goddamn precious. It makes the happy chemicals go brrr and so nearly every type of player hybrid has developed the ability to purr for pack bonding reasons. Creeper? Purrs. Enderman? Purrs. Bird? Purrs. Slime? …it sounds more like gargling, but sure we’ll call that a purr.

My Take on an Axolotl Origin for the Origins Mod!
Please note: I do not know how to code, so this is just a concept. If anyone who knows how it works can explain it to me I will absolutely attempt to make this exist, though.
This takes into account the different axolotl origins I’ve seen, and what I like and dislike about them (the way one of them called Axolotls fish will never cease to annoy me, so I’ve made sure to refer to them correctly as amphibians here), as well as what I’ve seen in other origins. I’ve also looked at the abilities of Minecraft axolotls themselves and taken those into account.
Tumblr media
Passive Abilities:
Aqua Affinity:
You can breathe, see, and mine underwater as easily as a human on land.
When on land, you are slowed, and after too long out of water, you will begin to suffocate. (5 minutes, same as Minecraft Axolotls)
Against the Current:
You are unaffected by flowing water.
Aquatic:
Like other aquatic mobs, you take increased damage from tridents enchanted with Impaling
Small:
As an axolotl, you are less than a block tall. Mobs will have to be closer to see you, but you have a shorter reach. You also have less hearts than a human (7) [Minecraft Axolotls have 7 hearts]
Oceanic:
You spawn in a warm ocean biome.
The Cutest Predator:
You deal increased damage to hostile ocean mobs, such as Drowned and Guardians. You are also immune to mining fatigue.
Piscivore:
You can only eat raw fish, but they provide increased hunger points, especially tropical fish. (Technically real axolotls only eat live fish, but I’ll go with this instead. Also, gapples and potions are exceptions to this)
Amphibious:
As an water-dwelling amphibian, you take increased damage from fire and heat as your slimy skin begins to dry out.
The Nether is especially dangerous for you, and you will find yourself going up in flames unless you are wearing armor enchanted with fire protection.
Play Dead:
When low on HP, you can enter a dormant state for 10 seconds to heal. Mobs will ignore you, however you are unable to move or attack while playing dead.
Active Abilities:
Primary Ability: Regenerate:
You can self-regenerate by pressing [keybind]! This ability has a 15-second cooldown.
Secondary Ability: Ocean’s Blessing:
When you press [keybind], you can provide nearby allies with a 15 second burst of regeneration and remove all negative effects. This ability has a one-minute cooldown.
Feel free to leave me some notes on how to improve this, and if any of the powers should be tweaked for balancing or are not possible to implement.

Piglins offer things of use in exchange for gold. They give you boots enchanted to allow easy passage over the land of souls that they avoid. They give you iron, gravel, fire charges, and obsidian, a quiet but clear message (just in case you need to go home). They give leather, arrows, string, basic supplies to keep you going. They give the same blackstone they've built their homes from (in case you might want to build a home here too).
Piglin know how to brew potions. They have bottles of water and fire resistance potions and they'll offer both to strangers that pay. They grow nether wart in the ruins of their homes. There is no natural nether wart to be found in the nether. Only what the piglins grow, and what can be found in the gardens of Fortress. It is the base of all potions, one of two essentials that must be farmed.
The other essential is blaze powder. Piglins must have some, they make potions after all, but they have no farms for it. Not anymore.
But there are fortresses. Fortresses built around blaze spawners. Fortresses with gardens of nether wart. Fortresses that were built and than abandoned. Chests with scraps of supplies left behind.
These fortresses are made of bricks. Netherrack bricks blocks, holding strong after all these years. These bricks aren't found naturally in the nether outside of fortresses. You can craft them yourself, or you can get them from one other source.
Piglins will offer you netherrack bricks. They have them. You won't find it in their bastions. But they will offer them all the same. They still remember how to make them. Maybe they used to build with them, once, a long time ago.
Piglins will wander into fortresses, but they do not call them home. Wither Skeletons do. Wither skeletons infest the fortresses, roaming around as if this is their home.
Piglins will hunt hoglins in groups, but there's no inherent hostility. Their children play together regardless of their parents quarrels. Hoglins are food, but not an enemy. Wither skeletons are not food. Yet Piglins are hostile to wither skeletons without provocation. A wither skeleton is known to be dangerous, is known to be a threat. A pest infesting a stolen home.
When offered gold, Piglins will give you many items. Things to keep you going, to help you get home, to help you stay where you are. But in that list, they will also offer netherrack bricks and ender pearls. Oddities in the lineup. Both have their uses, but both also send a message (if you want to go where they did, here's a hint, a helping hand. perhaps in hopes you will find something there they could not, or perhaps in hope you will manage to come back safely. whose to say).

One idea that just came to me:
what if the Ancient City portals connected not to a new dimension, but to each other
You would have to find and light two different Ancient City portals. But then you could instantaneously travel between them.
Any two portals in the world could connect to one another, but you would have to de-activate an existing portal if you wanted to use a third, new portal. That is, only two portals in the world can be linked and used at a time.
Or perhaps you could step through the third portal, and it would send you back to your first activated portal, but you couldn't get back to the third portal this way. Meaning that two-way travel could only occur through two of the world's portals.
This provides
a compelling reason to actually search for and clear multiple ancient cities
instantaneous overworld travel with reasonable limitations
a "late game" goal that is actually difficult to obtain while still being helpful to "late game" players

Elytrians
Elytrians are a sentient, semi-humanoid species native to the Outer End. They are capable of extended gliding and can jump extremely high.
Physical Appearance
Elytrians are humanoid in structure, but have segmented joints and are partially covered by an insect-like carapace. Their silvery bug-like wings are shed annually, and the shed wings are used to make Elytra. Their segmented legs are structured in a way that allows them to leap incredibly high, where they can then utilize their wings to glide over the Void from island to island. Their organs are designed to handle low-oxygen environments like the End, and they do not do well in the Overworld. Their primary food source is chorus fruit, but they can digest most plants.
Elytra
The Elytra that can be crafted from Elytrian sheds are highly prized items, rare and valuable. They are extremely useful for avians with feather mutations such as Silkie, whose natural wings are not enough to maintain true flight without aid, as well as for giving lighter species the ability to glide and travel long distances with the aid of rockets.
History
Elytrians are few and far between now, but in the past they were creators of great cities of Purpur and Endstone, and mechanical marvels in the forms of airships. It is unknown why their numbers declined so drastically, or why they abandoned their cities to the Shulkers and Enderfolk. In modern times, they are typically nomads, traveling in small groups and utilizing their sheds to craft Elytra to trade with other species.
⚠️ Work In Progress ⚠️ Reblogs are off until I’ve come back and completed this, but feel free to give me some feedback in the replies!
I plan on doing more of these! Like this one, they probably won’t be the exact same powers as in the actual origins mod. Currently the next one I plan on doing is the Avian! I may also put together effect/power sets for how these redesigned origins would be implemented into the mod, but I’m no coder so there are currently no plans for an actual mod or origins datapack adding these- sorry to disappoint anyone who was hoping for these to exist ingame.

I feel like, for wither rose significance, it would be something like... revenge? double-edged knives? because it hurts to touch, but to give it to someone (in order to hurt them) one has to touch it and carry it... either that or Mega Goth Vibes
oh my goodness you’re a genius. a threatening gesture, telling them that you will not forget this, that revenge will be yours someday. It could also mean a sort of… phyrric victory, as acquiring one means something died (thinking of this particular clip). I think overall though the meaning should be fairly similar to the meanings of dead/deadly flowers in the North American language of flowers, such as the ones below.

I was coming over with minecraft language-of-flower world-building concepts but I got distracted and now I don’t remember most of it :(
so I’m gonna write down what I remember before I inevitably forget again
Daisies by themselves in villager culture mean well-wishes, such as for a swift recovery from illness (because when used in suspicious stew they provide regeneration). When paired with other flowers the meanings change, but are typically positive.
Wither roses have very different meanings in overworld and nether cultures. Piglins call them “Death’s Blessing” and use them to make potions that can aid in reversing the zombification illness when in its early stages (they don’t trade these with players due to their rarity and players having no need for them). I’m undecided as to whether they are considered a massive “F you” or not in Overworld cultures.
