It’s been a while

So I haven't really posted anything for about 7 months and the truth is, I just haven't wanted to. I haven't wanted to talk about beauty or anything because for awhile it wasn't fun anymore. I wasn't in the best place not to mention work was ridiculously busy for me. Then when I about to start posting again, a friend was making fun of people who blog. In her defense, she didn't know I have a blog but it still really bothered me. She keep talking about how no one cared about that stuff and how self centered people that did that must be. After hearing that I couldn't bring myself to post but recently I started thinking about it.  Maybe it is self centered to think people care about my opinion. Maybe no one actually cares what I think but what is it hurting. If I'm being honest, I'm really annoyed at myself for letting anyone but especially a friend make me feel crappy about something I like doing. They don't have to understand it or even support it but don't make a person feel shitty for doing something that brings them joy. With that being said, I'm gonna try to get back to posting. I just got the Colourpop X Powerpuff Girls collection so there will definitely be pictures.

The collection as a whole works very well together but I do suggest only getting the shades you know you’ll use. Top 5 Small Colourpop Palettes of 2020

This is my top 5 small (9 pans or less) Colourpop Palettes of 2020. Yes, I had to do a separate post just for the small Colourpop palettes. I mean that one person who said I was starting to become a Colourpop Stan account wasn't super off base. I love Colourpop. They are an affordable brand with many excellent products so here is what I think are their best small palettes.

5. Making Mauves - I am a sucker for mauve makeup whether it's eyeshadow, blushes, or lip colors but I have a special fondness for eyeshadow. Naturally, when I saw that they were coming out with a mauve 9 pan palette I bought it. The formula in this palette is so pigmented, blendable, and long lasting. The only issue I have with this palette is with the shimmer shade called A La Mode. It's pretty and pigmented but the amount of glitter fallout when applying it and wearing it, is more than even I am okay with. Other than that though, it you are a fan of mauve eyeshadow, I highly recommend. 

4. Going Coconuts - This is the perfect palette for someone who is into subtle neutral looks. It has a nice mix of true neutrals, warm neutrals, and cool neutrals. The formula is excellent and this is a palette that everyone should have in their collection. 

3. Baroque - I never expected to love this palette as much as I do. I thought it looked unique from what was being released and I don't really own darker blues and navy shades so I decided to pick this up. Again, formula is on par with most of their other palettes so it's excellent. The only thing that really keeps this palette from being higher is the sequined shades (mattes with glitter). I don't loathe them like so many people do but I don't want 3 of them in palette that only has 9 shades. 

2. The Child Palette - Yes, I love Star Wars and The Mandalorian and I would have bought this palette regardless of the colors however the color story and formula paired with the packaging of this palette makes this truly one of the best palettes of the year period. I have not had any trouble creating gorgeous looks nor have I disliked anything I have done with this palette which is rare. Honestly, if this wasn't limited edition it would probably be in the number 1 spot but it is so it stays at number 2. 

1. That's Taupe - After only seeing warm tones for so long, a cool toned palette was needed and this one is just excellent across the board. The mattes are so pigmented and blendable. The shimmers are gorgeous and there is minimal fallout. It's another palette that I haven't disliked any look that I have created with it. 

Those were my 5 favorite small Colourpop palettes. I will be posting my top 5 favorite large Colourpop palettes as well so look out for that.

After taking a break from posting for a lot of reasons, I am working on my favorites from 2020. I know we are half way through January but I still wanna talk about what I loved in 2020. There will be multiple posts because I have a lot to talk about so hopefully I will have the first one up later today.

I have received a few messages because I didn't post anything about what happened at the US Capitol on Wednesday. I'm gonna start by saying that I do not support the domestic terrorists that stormed our Capitol.  I am still incredibly angry about what happened and that there are people out there trying to justify it. I am angry that people have taken in by this narcissistic man and his delusional claims. However, I want to caution the people that messaged me demanding that I state my position. I understand the need to feel like you are following people whose values align with your own. I understand that there is a lot people out there screaming that silence is being complacent but please understand that social media silence is not necessarily total silence. Some people, like myself, have a hard time expressing their thoughts especially when they stressed. I have typed and retyped what I wanted to say about thirty times and I will probably type and retype thirty more before I post this. Some of us also have disorders that make posting anything difficult but especially things that cause such extreme reactions in people. It's not as simple as silence is being complacent especially considering how many people are just going through the motions and saying what they think people want them to say. I would much rather have strangers on the internet think that I'm being complacent over actually being complacent. I would rather not be a performative activist and actually do something helpful when I can. Contrary to popular belief, things happen even when someone doesn't post about it so please stop demanding that people meet your expectations in regards to their content and if you aren't happy with their content or lack thereof, just unfollow them.
