The newspapers said that the blizzard would be bad, but Al never dreamed that it would be like this. The house had gone dark as the power sapped, and the armored boy knew that staying there was no longer an option. Al pushed on the door once, twice, and then three times, but it refused to budge. He sighed, and went to go find matches and candles.

"I guess we're stuck in here, but at least the fireplace works."

He waved back to her tiredly. "I managed to repair the majority of it when he was in the bathroom," said Al. "Although, the last flash of light did confuse hiim a bit."

”He won’t care,” Akari trailed off as Al left. She shrugged before following slowly after him. She kept an eye on the entire situation from the turn in the hallway. The second Al reappeared she greeted him with a raised hand. “How did it go? I didn’t hear any fighting, so you’re fine, right?”

Al nodded, and put down his now empty cup. "We've sacrificed so much to get the stone, and giving it up now would be inconsiderate," he said softly. "Thank you for the advice, Akari." Al looked out his window at the growing storm. "Maybe you should stay here for the night, Akari. It'd be dangerous for you to walk home in this weather. I'll find some blankets for the guest room."

Al glanced at the clock. Midnight already? But I’m not even halfway through these papers! He stifled a yawn, and went back to his book. Hours of work had given way to absolutely no leads about the Philosopher’s Stone, and he didn’t want to return to Ed empty handed.

There was a knock on the door, and without looking up, he said, “Come in.” Smelling the scent of chocolate, he turned around, smiling. Al accepted the warm mug gratefully from the green haired girl, taking a small sip.

"Thanks Akari, this is just what I needed."

"It's supposedly a myth, however there's mentions of it being used in Ishval in these military files over here." Al pointed to a stack of folders. "But the more I research it, the more unsure I am about using it. It was apparently used for murdering people in Ishval. Using a stone that was used to kill innocents to restore ourselves just doesn't seem right." Al sighed, and took another sip of his hot chocolate. "What do you think about all of this, Akari?"

"Wait, he's going to bed now?" Al gasped. "He's going to see the mess we've made in his room, Akari." He nudged the crates aside and made a dash for the room, trying to get inside before Tooru found his room was a wreck.

Akari’s head popped up from behind a crate, eyes closed in concentration. She squatted there listening for a moment, finally her eyes opened again. “Yeah, he’s upstairs now and his footsteps got lighter,” she explained. A look of confusion passed across her face before she began shouting. “Is he going to bed? That lazy, ohhhhh I’m going to stuff him so good!” Akari hopped up, obviously angry.

Al followed her into the room, and wedged himself behind a table. Sure enough, he could hear angry yelling coming from the staircase. Footsteps grew louder, and Al shrunk himself down further. "D-Do you think he's gone now?

”Forget him for now! Maybe if we leave him behind he’ll do some work and clean up the mess,” Akari called back behind her. The girl didn’t stop until she had safely left the basement, and dived into the nearest open doorway. “Now, we hide in case he’s angry,” she explained before she began chanting under her breathe once more. Just like that her hair and eyes faded back to their normal colors, and the red glow was gone.

Al reached the familiar marketplace, waving hello to passerbys. He bought a bag full of food, and made sure to get candy for Liam. With a grin, he also got some milk for Ed. I've been gone for a while, maybe Winry's finally convinced him about milk.

Al walked back to the house, hearing increasingly loud chatter and laughter coming from it. He set down his bags in front of the door, and fumbled for a key. Although he was scared that Liam and the Rockbells would hate him, and was very nervous to see Mrs. Izumi again, Al was glad he came home.

I'm Coming Home

"Oh come on I know you want to." Liam laughed a little. "Ok just be sure not to go on another multi year journey ok?" Liam teases as he heads outsidr.

Liam then scrambles into the kitchen and starts getting everything ready. He gets everything out and then begins to refer to a cooking book to begin making his recipe.

Al gave a hurried apology and helped Tooru to his feet. "Wait, Akari!" he yelled, dashing up the staircase. "Where are we going? And what about your brother?" He sighed. It was always 'go first talk later' with Akari, but he didn't mind too much.

Akari glanced at the floor before making an oh noise. She quickly gave her adoptive sibling a knee to the gut before hopping off of him. “Let’s go, mystery solved Al! Good work, partner!” She shouted while dashing out of the room. On her way out she managed to shout “Big Brother, I need you to fix some things later!”
