How to choose your Asian Wedding Photographer
1) Find a style that you like
The first thing any bride & groom should decide is the style of photography you would prefer for your wedding. Whether it is traditional, photojournalistic (candid) or fine art (Creative portraiture) – there are many different styles of photography and it is important to find the one you love. Spend time looking over photographer’s websites and pour over their Instagram feeds to find out what styles they do and which ones you like.
Tumblr media
2) Shortlist possible photographers
Once you have identified a style of photography that you like, the next step is to find a photographer that fits this style – of course you can search online for an Asian wedding photographer but also asking family and friends, checking social media and also asking for recommendations within the industry e.g. from your venue or caterers may help you to find a shortlist of potential photographers.
3) Meet your photographer
Once you have a shortlist of photographers make sure you arrange a phone call or face to face meeting to get to know them. Be prepared to talk about where you are with your wedding plans and the style of photography that you are after e.g. will your wedding be taking place outside on a hopefully sunny day, or inside in a dark building?
It is also important for Asian weddings to identify a photographer who recognises and respects the various customs and traditions of each faith. I have photographed Hindu, Sikh and Muslim faith weddings throughout the UK, including Hindu Wedding Photography in Birmingham, Sikh Wedding Photography Birmingham and Indian Wedding Photography Birmingham.
You should meet the photographer so that you can see if your personalities click and that they share your vision. Your photographer will be present at your wedding for much of the day shadowing yourself, your family & friends around to take pictures so it is important that they do so unobtrusively.

4) Whats included in the price
Another important consideration is of course your budget, when meeting any photographers ask them about the packages available and what is included e.g. second photographer, hi-res JPG’s, prints, pre-wedding shoots etc. Also be sure everything you definitely need is included within the quote rather than having any surprises afterwards.
Furthermore, it is important to remember that unlike other parts of your Asian wedding such as catering and decorations, the photographs will serve as a permanent reminder of your wedding so this should be a consideration when looking at your budget to see if any savings could potentially be made.
5) Delivery
Once the wedding is done, you need to know when you will receive the photos – ask your photographer for a rough timeline of when you will receive them. It is also important to consider that just because it is faster may not be better as someone who takes longer may spend more time on each individual image in order to get the best result.

How much does an average Asian Wedding cost UK?
Costing Of :Breakdown of Asian Weddings In UKAsian weddings are a lot different from western weddings. For example, the bride and groom will be wearing traditional wedding attire which is different from their Western counterparts.Furthermore, they would also have to pay for many things that Westerners wouldn't have to worry about. According to rough estimates, a couple spends somewhere between £50,000 and £75,000 on their wedding day. This is because of the long list of functions and rituals they go through. The cost may increase or decrease based on the rituals and events of the Sikh, Muslim, and Hindu weddings.Let's dive into what kind of function they have and their expected costing.
Tumblr media
Sangeet:Sangeet is a cultural event that takes place long before the wedding actually starts. It is traditionally hosted by the bridegroom's family and attended by the wedding guests. It is a time when friends and relatives of the groom come together to play music, celebrate, and enjoy good food.An Asian wedding is not just about the bride and groom. There are many other aspects that need to be planned, including their guests. One of the most expensive parts of an Asian wedding in the UK is the guest list. This article will break down how much each aspect costs, so you can better plan for your own event!
Mehndi:
Mehndi is an Asian tradition where the bride has her hands decorated in elaborate designs with henna. This takes place usually before the wedding, or sometimes on the day itself when there are time constraints for other events.
The Wedding Ceremony:
The wedding ceremony is one of the most expensive parts of any Asian wedding in the UK. The traditional Western-style wedding ceremony lasts about an hour and has a general cost of around £600, but an Asian-style wedding can take anywhere from two hours to the whole day and cost more than this!
The Wedding Reception:
The wedding reception is the most expensive part of an Asian wedding in the UK. This is because it has many elements that will increase its cost, including catering, entertainment and venue if you are not hosting at home.
The cost of the average Indian Wedding in the UK can be broken down as follows:
Venue - £10,000
Catering - £10,1000 - £20,000
Photographer and Videographer - £9,000
Hair and Make-up - £800 - £3,000
Attire - £3,000 - £5,000
And the above cost doesn't even include the cost of the Sangeet or Mehndi!
