children portrayed in video games is always so strange to see.. it's always just a smidge off. they so rarely seem like they would gleefully beat the shit out of you if given half the chance. thinking about the tiefling kids you meet practicing swordplay mostly - the fact that not one of them tries to hit you with their fake weaponry is a travesty of immersion-breaking proportions

truly my eyes glaze over whenever someone expresses sympathy for the evil bg3 men like okay what about orin my friend orin. none of them have a fraction of her swag... she's so unbelievably tragic but that doesn't stop her from serving. she can't do anything right she was literally dead and doomed from the beginning. ok. from the moment of her birth there was nothing for her. do you understand. what if the sacrificial lamb was too innocent to understand what was going on as she turned the knife on the shepherd who raised her to be killed. because she was a child. and every breath she took after that would always be a mistake and she couldn't possibly understand that because she was a child!!! that was born to be slaughtered. there was never anything else for her, there was never anything for her. she was supposed to be dead, she was never supposed to exist. right. the dark urge took her life from her by being born and took any other life she could have had by dying. she gave them a life she could never have by killing them. and nobody gave her anything nobody cared for her and even if durge does there's nothing they can do for her. it's one or the other and it was never going to be her. every aspect of her existence is a lie she desperately wants to believe but if you try to unravel it she'll disappear. orin the red i will get you out of there i promise

i do think that wyll would pay at the d&d equivalent of the subway turnstile, but not out of respect for the law. hed know that its rude to flaunt his status like that when he can 100% afford it. however. he would pay for it, go through the turnstile, look the fist in the eyes, and then hold open the exit door for a bunch of people to go through. what are they gonna do? tell his dad? "so you know your son? the one who saved your life after you threw him out on his ass? yeah, he let people commit fare evasion. no, no he paid, he just- yeah. yeah okay, ill go now"
wyll "people's princess" ravengard is so so real to me. the gate will love their prince

having worked in the seasonal wildlife field I can tell u the most realistic thing about BG3 is when you put a group of absolute strangers together in the woods for six months you can indeed wander from tent to tent at night and be told absolutely the most unhinged facts about their lives and tragic backstories they wouldn’t even share with their closest friends and family back home and then everyone just goes to bed

(they are looking at you)
a practice in gnome proportions and my most earnest efforts to give row some kind of protective gear (which they immediately ruined by leaving the quilted doublet open for the Look). I don't know how they manage to be so dripped out in the middle of nowhere I just know in my heart that they are. details under the cut because tumblr makes my shit blurry

Lae'zel's character and her entire situation at the beginning of the game becomes so much more funny when you find out she's 22. It makes so much sense. Imagine you're 22 and you're exposed to this dangerous toxin or chemical or something - but not to worry, you learnt that this can be easily fixed, you just need to dial 911 real quick. Common knowledge. Everyone knows that. You learnt that in kindergarten, it's up there with fire alarm drills.
But the people you're stuck with have no concept of modern medicine and when you say "let's go to the hospital" they will say shit like "i think they kill people at the hospital" and "we should ask this swamp lady" or "this guy over there told me about this homoeopathic healer kind of guy but he got abducted" or "this random bard wants to help" and "I'm not going to dial 911 because I don't want the government to know my home address" or "maybe we should consider a deal with Satan". And then a bunch of them KEEP consuming the chemical because it makes them "stronger". One guy might explode for unrelated reasons. You have a few days before this situation is getting critical and suddenly they're solving crime and doing general charity for the community.
And FOR SOME REASON you still try to help these idiots and you STILL want to help them get the cure even though they all keep insisting the "doctors" at the "hospital" might try to "kill them" and they don't have insurance. And you keep telling them to just. go. to. the. hospital. before the time runs out and you all die very horribly of a very treatable condition.
And also you're 22 in a foreign country and you're responsible for shepherding this gaggle of idiots who are all ranging anywhere from 24 to 240 years old.
