I've been playing Hades some more and damn do I adore asterius. Like yes I'm a furry, yes I want to f*** the big minotaur and that factors into it but also I just feel like he's sooo well written on top of that. I love his soft-spoken dialogue and how level headed he is, his weird code of honor he developed living like he lived that ended up tying him to an asshat like Theseus, but still genuinely caring for him so much and so genuinely. The weirdly queer coded relationship in a queer as fuck game that comes across as the most gay in the entire story despite it being relegated to subtext, it's all just so fun. Makes me appreciate the original myth even more in a way. In that big explosion of feminist myth retellings of the 2010's did we ever get something that characterizes the minotaur in a way that's even similar? I need to see if Mary Renault got around to anything like that after I get through her Alexander the great series...

Dwarf cooking show: America's Test Kitchen but even more rigorous. 20 minutes of discussing how to maintain precise heat just to boil water.

Halfling cooking show: Great British Bake Off with soap-opera levels of internal drama. Everyone is stoned off their ass.

Orc cooking show: Edible mythbusters. The contestants must make bbq with a live dragon. People straight up die sometimes.

Goblin cooking show: Goblins don't really understand the concept of restaurants, but they have a show like Diners Dive ins and Dives for rooting through people's trash.
