tempted to ask for one of the dirty prompts but to spite myself, how about 23?
CARYL pls
Hey there nonny, here you go <3
23. vintage
It was the cabin all over again.
Carol felt the tension between them wrap around her spine like a taut string as they walked inside the dilapidated building to camp out for the night. It was the first time they were alone. Really alone. Without people muttering around them in French with questioning glances, and suspicious prying eyes following their every move. Daryl hadn't left her side since they reunited a few days ago â he simply clasped her hand and led her inside without a word to his French companions.
They'd held each other so desperately when she found him - his face was pressed into the crook of her neck, his fingers dug deep welts in her jacket, and his arms clutched her so close that she felt his heaving breaths right down to the tips of her toes.
His warmth lingered on her perpetually as she kept finding ridiculous excuses to touch him. She felt ashamed of her weakness, but losing him for all this time had made her fear worse. So her arms lingered on his sides when he checked her after a fight; she leaned into him as they walked, brushed against his fingers when she handed him his crossbow, or traced his face every time she checked his head wound and watched him stare at her lips longingly.
Even though everything ached at that look.
Her tears blurred her vision when his eyes roamed her face every spare moment they had together. He'd hesitate for a long moment before brushing them with his thumbs, and pressing his forehead to hers until it was time to keep moving again.
But the deep yearning for each other's warmth had evaporated into thin air the moment they were on this path by themselves. Reality kicked in as days passed, and she saw how different he looked here, how at ease he was with the terrain and the people.
It reminded her of the days after the cabin when she didn't know exactly where she fit into his life. As the distance between them grew, and his hesitance to approach her got stronger â an unexpected spark of sadness followed her.
They found a large, empty room in the building for the night. The floors were crusted marble, an old charred fireplace against a wall with a stack of wood that looked untouched for years, and a rusty bronze chandelier covered in cobwebs smashed in the corner. The walls were all crooked chunks of brick and plaster cracked away with time. Two long windows on either side of the fireplace filtered the dying light in the room.
She turned her back to him and removed her gun, coat, and jacket. There was a rustle of fabric behind her as he did the same. She unrolled their bedrolls and sat with her back against the wall as he knelt down and lit a fire. He reached into his pocket to draw a box of matches when a tiny brown wooden box fell out, rolled across the floor, and clattered against her right foot.
Carol lifted it to find a crude etching of a flower on top of it, she turned it in her hand as he stoked the flames. He chewed his lip and looked at the box, then back up at her. His hair was soft gold in the firelight with threads of silver peeking through it.
"What's this?" The box rattled as she turned it upside down.
"Open it." He sat with his back against the wall, a few feet away from her.
The box unscrewed, and sitting inside was a tarnished silver Jasper ring. It looked about a hundred years old, with soft ochre and black spots forming around the knots on the sides, the crevices, and the rim of the dotted silver bubbles around the textured green Jasper stone in the middle.
"A ring?" Carol furrowed her brow.
"It's a Jasper ring." Daryl's voice was soft, taking her back to another time when he'd used it to tell her a story. "Heard a long time ago that Jasper helps give you the courage to face hardships and strengthens bonds between loved ones that are gone."
She traced the knots on either side of the ring. "Celtic knots," Daryl moved closer and tentatively touched one. "That there is a love knot, a sign of love shared between two people."
Their eyes locked for one searing moment, his eyes lingering on her lips, tears glistening on his lashes. His lips were chapped and dry, he swiped them with his tongue before looking down at his hands. Carol turned back to the ring.
The Jasper stone was a gradient of streaked green and bright points of soft yellow patterns, like a constellation etched in stone. Its shine had dulled over the years, it looked like it had weathered quite a few storms. She could feel Daryl's eyes on her as she twirled the ring.
"It's beautiful."
"Yeah."
She turned and saw him gazing at her softly.
"Found it in this antique shop I was camping in one night when I was alone in the early days." He leaned his head back on the wall. "Reminded me of that ring you used to wear back at the Commonwealth â the one you lost after the battle."
"Is that why you kept this ring?" Carol hated how small her voice sounded.
He nodded, "It gave me hope."
She searched his eyes quietly even though she knew he was telling the truth.
"Dunno why but I thought for as long as I held on to it, you wouldn't forget me. Let me go." Daryl's eyes were pleading. "So when I saw you again, I could give it to you."
"I'm never going to forget you, Daryl."
His exhale trembled out of him, and his eyes glistened.
Carol wiped her tears and looked down at the ring. "Why didn't you give it to me?" The words cracked around the edges.
"Didn't think you'd want it anymore."
She looked back at him. His fringe covered his face and his fingers twitched in his lap. Carol held the ring out, Daryl accepted it quietly. She locked eyes with him and held out her hand. His eyes widened briefly, and shone in the moonlight as he searched her face. She smiled at him softly, and he placed the ring on her finger.
Leaning her head on his shoulder, she swayed her hand to catch the moonlight on the yellow specks of the Jasper stone. She turned to look at his watery blue eyes to find him staring at her longingly.
"What do you think?"
Daryl's lips quirked up, "It suits ya," he said without looking away from her.
Carol's smile wilted into the raw longing she'd felt when she thought she would never find him again. She caressed his jaw and she let herself see him â all of him beneath the thin veneer he'd donned to survive in this strange land.
Her resolve cracked and tears spilled anew when Daryl made a tiny whimpering sound in the back of his throat and pressed his forehead against hers. He turned his face into her palm and pressed his lips to it, then pulled her closer so she could rest her head on his chest. A few moments later, his breathing turned into soft snores, and the raw longing she felt escaped through her lips before she could stop it.
"Should've gone to New Mexico..."
The silence that followed made the fire crackle louder. The Jasper stone glinted in its light. Carol fisted her fingers in his shirt, nuzzling into his chest and letting her tears soak into his skin as he slept.
"It's still out there." Daryl's chest rumbled beneath her ear. She looked up.
"Yeah?" Carol's voice trembled.
"Yeah." Daryl's voice was firm.
His thumb grazed her cheek and caught her tears, his hand wrapped over the ring and held onto her hers tightly.
He kissed the crown of her head, and she nuzzled back into his chest and pressed a kiss to his skin. His arms engulfed her until she was surrounded by him. Daryl. His breath tangling in her hair, his heart thrumming in her ear, his skin grazing her lips, his warmth lulling her to sleep, and his ring wrapped around her heart.
Hope was not lost.

Are you getting sometimes mad that people still spread allegations like "she needed a break", "she was unable to relocate", "she had to take care of her father"? I obviously don't know for sure what happened either BUT her whole demeanor last year was so off. First she was always sad, her eyes teary even in pictures of the last days and reshoot, SDCC, her leaving before press conference etc and then she was obviously angered to attend the final event, seemed annoyed by specific people, avoiding red carpet etc. It wasn't unprofessional, many people didn't feel something was amiss, but if you watch a person for so many years, you should get the hang of that person and the emotions especially very subtle changes in facial expressions and gestures. I can't believe that some fans still believe that it was her choice. Personally, it makes me mad every time I have to read it. On another note, she's really happy right now but she still deserves so much more especially regarding her public image. How do you feel about it?
Does it make me mad that a woman with the most stellar reputation in the industry had that compromised after already being punished for someone elseâs misogyny and incompetence? Yeah, it makes me extremely mad. Those narratives, none of which are true, canât be walked back. Theyâre out there, and itâs not fair to Melissa. I think she has done an incredible job of refuting the lies without uttering a damn word, and it would be helpful if AMC, cast, and crew let her lead the way rather than adding fuel to the fire.
She does look extremely happy to be filming and Iâm glad. She better be getting everything she deserves. For example, a show title that doesnât disrespect her character and press releases that donât suggest sheâs joining someone elseâs show. Itâs her fucking show too.

This One Is For Melissa Mcbride (And Her Fans â¤ď¸)
(original photo via @/calivero92 on IG)
~
Let me get straight to it.Â
There shouldâve been an official announcement of Melissa McBrideâs return. After a lackluster final season, the absolute nightmare that last year mustâve been for her â she deserved nothing but joy, celebration, and endless praise for her in the media. Instead, her announcement was whittled down to a cheap click bait storm perpetuated by someone who had no right to speak for her (I donât care how well-intentioned it may or may not have been).Â
We all have some deep feelings about the Twitter storm + clickbait articles that followed yesterday. If you read the tweet in question and were hurt, angry, sad, confused, conflicted, or felt a mixture of everything â ALL YOUR FEELINGS ARE VALID.Â
Let me preface this by saying I wasn't around for all that happened last year. But I have spoken to a lot of fans â many of them have emotional scars, asked reasonable questions, and were respectful towards people involved in the spinoff. From what I've seen, a handful of people crossed the line by harassing NR and threatening his family â that was vile and disgusting, and they should be called out for it. And they shouldâve taken accountability for their actions. Nobody deserves that treatment.Â
HOWEVER, bunching the entire fandom together with those few that didnât control their vitriol and calling everyone âtoxicâ is infuriating and just plain sad. Especially when we remember that this relates to a TV show that THRIVES on showing us the gray areas of moral behaviour.Â
These are the fans that put their wallets down to watch TWD. The people who passionately talk about their favourites, make fan art, write beautiful letters to the actors, and watch the shows to give them strength and hope in their lives. People who line up at cons, cosplay characters, buy expensive tickets and photo ops just to spend a few minutes with their favourite actors.Â
But letâs talk specifically about Melissa McBrideâs fans.Â
My question is to anyone who believes all of Melissaâs fans are festering in toxicity â do you know what the fans she has ACTUALLY nurtured look like?
Let me introduce you.Â
The majority of the fans that adore Carol are survivours like her. The type of abuse they face may have different names â but they resonated with Carol deeply because she showed them they were stronger than their trauma. Stronger than the people who caused those traumas. She taught them how to fight back. To rise up.Â
These are some of the strongest, most vulnerable, perceptive, passionate, and empathetic people in the fandom. Theyâve watched this show and looked up to Carol to get them through whatever difficult times they faced. Some are still deciding whether or not to subscribe to watch any future spinoffs. Â
Hereâs another question to anyone who believes the narrative from last year (not by Melissa or her reps) that was spread again yesterday â Do you *KNOW* Melissa McBride?Â
Melissa McBride is the woman who has spent over a decade breathing life into Carol Peletier. She has shown us Carolâs strength, her raw vulnerability, and her tenacious spirit. Qualities that come from within Melissa that she harnessed to bring Carol to our screens. She is a class act. Everyone who has ever worked with her has called her wonderful and professional. She is charming, sweet, remarkably intelligent, and an extremely eloquent speaker.
And she can speak her truth for herself â when she wants to or if she wants to.Â
She has written to her fans, and treated her fans with love and respect. Sheâs spent hours at cons speaking to them. With her performance, she has helped DV survivours leave difficult situations. She has inspired people to move through their traumas and get out of toxic situations. She even skipped the red carpet at the finale event to skip the limelight and go spend time with her fans.Â
And through all this, Melissa has shown nothing but love, gratitude, and respect for her fans. She has been a beacon of light in the lives of her fans. And most importantly, she has taught us how to stand up for ourselves.Â
Did they honestly think that when the time came to stand up for her â we would sit still? They better think again.Â
Melissa McBride doesn't just deserve better...
She deserves the goddamn world.

Set directly after S10ep16
He was an idiot. Beyond an idiot. Theyâd finally set off together for New Mexico, and heâd somehow convinced himself that this was the answer. This is what would finally stop her spiralling. But theyâd barely been on the road a day and they were already in a mess. Because everyone that left their cell, was dead within the hour. And their captors didnât seem to be slowing down in doing whatever it was, they were doing.

"No more hugs unless they get all grindy and thrusty" has got to be my favourite comment I've read on here in weeks 𤣠can we send these terms/demands to whoever is in charge of writing the scripts for Carol and Daryl's reunion in France?
My one request for season 8.
I want something that confirms this ship is sailing forwards.Â
Not that I donât appreciate the fleeting moments, stolen glances, hugs, forehead kisses, etc. Itâs justâŚitâs been 7 seasons and Iâm getting blue balls here.
Like, come one writers, level with me here, Iâm not even asking for Carol and Daryl to kiss, I just want an almost kiss yâknow?Â
I donât mind a convenient cock block (be it walkers, Rick, uproar, what-the-fuck-ever) but I just want that moment. That moment where no one can argue whether or not these beautiful turtledoves are canon because they were so god damn close to initiating it, just a fucking whisper away from a kiss that itâs painted black and white.
I feel like as shippers, we donât ask for much, nor do we expect it. Take the season 8 promo photo for example, people were internally screaming that they were even pictured in the same shot. We analysis and cherish every interaction theyâve ever had and we thank you for it.
But seriouslyâŚI need more now
I mean a kiss would make me flatline, an almost kiss is all Iâm wanting to get me through these long nights.Â
Once that has been finally initiated, everything else has to fall into place. A conversation has to be had about what is happening between them and where things are going (then things can actually get going thank you very much).
I need an awkward Daryl and blushing Carol.
Anyway thatâs my request for season 8. I feel like we deserve this.Â
Caryl on, the best is yet to come.

26 reasons to ship Caryl - parallels edition
1. Scars + victims of abuse.
2. They both took it out on Ed and Merle when they died (as a revenge for everything they had put them through).
3. They both used to live in the shadow of their own lives
⢠Daryl in 4x12: âI was nobody. Nothing.â
⢠Carol in 5x13: âI get to be invisible again.â
4. They both let go of their painful past.
⢠In 4x12, Daryl burned down the house that was meant to represent his past, and let go of those memories.
⢠Carol in 5x06 (to Daryl): âThe woman I was with him⌠she got burned away.â
In both cases, fire is involded (literally and figuratively). Thereâs also a constant presence of fire in Consumed, their bottle episode. Carol is associated with fire in the flashbacks and Daryl is associated with fire in the present time. They burned their past away separately, and now theyâre ready to âstart overâ together.
5. Forehead kisses.
The first one happened in season 2, and the second one in season 5. We can clearly see the evolution of their relationship through those kisses (in season 2, Daryl cringed and was reluctant to receive the kiss, while in season 5 he doesnât even blink when Carol touches him).
6. The âseparationâ scenes.
Carol finding out that Daryl left the group + Daryl thinking Carol is dead + Daryl finding out that Rick banished Carol.
7. Picking up each otherâs stuff.
8. Comforting each other after the loss of someone they cared about.
9.
⢠Carol & Daryl in 5x06: âYou donât know me.â // âYup, you keep telling yourself that.â
⢠Carol in 5x10: âI know you.â
10.
⢠Carol in season 2: âYou did more for my little girl in one day than her daddy ever did in his whole life.â
⢠Daryl in season 5: âYou saved us all by yourself.â
11.
⢠4x02: âYou okay?â // âGotta be.â
⢠5x02: âYou okay?â // âGotta be.â
12. Mirroring each otherâs actions in Still/The Grove/Alone
& (teaching the girls how to use weapons)
&
& (breaking down after losing the girls)
13. Being there for each other after Sophiaâs and Bethâs deaths.
14.
⢠Carol in season 3: âDaryl has his code.â
⢠Daryl in season 4: âThatâs her but that ainât herâ
15.
⢠Glenn to Daryl (when he was leaving the group): âWhat do you want us to tell Carol?â
⢠Rick (after banishing Carol): âI gotta go talk to Darylâ
16.
⢠Carol before finding out that Daryl left: âWhereâs Daryl?â
⢠Daryl before finding out that Carol got banished: âWhat about Carol?â
17.
⢠Daryl giving Sophiaâs doll to Carol // Carol giving Bethâs knife to Daryl.
18. They care about each other more than anyone else.
19. Daryl is always the first one to reunite with Carol
20. They honor each otherâs memory.
21. Daryl carrying Carol because sheâs hurt: season 3 // season 5.
22. Their âstahpâ game.
23. Theyâre both ready to give their lives to protect their family.
⢠Rick (to Carol): âIs there anything you wouldnât do for this group?â / Carol: âNo.â
⢠Daryl: âYou want blood? You take it from me, man.â
24.
⢠When Daryl wanted to leave the group in season 2, Carol stopped him. (Youâre every bit as good as themâ).
⢠When Carol wanted to leave the group in season 5, Daryl stopped her. (âWe get to start overâ).
Theyâre trying.
25. Theyâre trying.
⢠âYou said we get to start over. Did you?â / âIâm trying.â
⢠âWhy are you here?â / âTrying.â
⢠âYou ainât somewhere else, youâre right here. Trying!â
⢠âYou wanted me to try, right?â
26. Together.
⢠âWe ainât deadâ
⢠âWe get to start over.â
⢠âWe ainât ashes.â
â˘Â âWeâre not deadâ
