uwhhh i don't talk about adrian and don much because i have. Complicated feelings on the subject of chapter 2 of the novel (or whatever chapter it is. IT's chapter scheme confuses me). but i do need to cry about how UNWELL it makes me that adrian loved derry. he loved that ass backwards town so much that makes me SICK. don was like no we need to leave this place, it's horrible, it's evil, it's cursed but adrian loved it so much. it gave him so much hurt and it hated him but he loved it and he thought it was beautiful. LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE!!!!

Fic Feature Friday! Episode 24

I've seen this brilliant suggestion going around where we promote a one-year-or-older fic (ours or someone else's) every Friday to spread the love around. I'd like to start doing this regularly to give older works (and fandoms) a moment in the spotlight.

He kisses Eddie's palm and exhales slowly. This is something he wants to remember. The lines in Eddie's palms are prominent, and he's started to gain calluses from learning how to take care of his car. Richie has always liked the way Eddie's hands look. His nails are well taken care of if you exclude the dirt and grease embedded under them. Eddie doesn't have Stan's habit of biting his nails. He always yammered about how you could get diseases from that. Richie never corrected him that he actually read about how biting your nails helps build your immune system by allowing your body to fight off common bacteria. There is too much sweetness in this fic between Reddie, the Tozier family, and the Losers - not to mention a solid female OC in the role of Richie's sister. There are so many cool (and unique!) fics out there to explore in the OC and AU categories. Reading fics with unusual tags or with tags you don't usually search for can be a fun way to grow as a reader and writer!

Love seeing disability-centred fics that aren't whump, and the author draws a fascinating and painful parallel between Richie's quickly deteriorating vision and ongoing propaganda from far right evangelical Christians that illness and disability are punishments from a higher power for queerness. Why, yes, I did find this fic on my odyssey through the Sonia Kaspbrak tags on AO3! How did you know? She's such an intriguing character and her son is cutecutecute.

I also found some headcanons and some fics about Eddie using mobility assistance devices after the second clown war, and others about the possibilities for a mute!Richie trying to make it in the entertainment industry, so there are still pages of intriguing self-acceptance+disability fics for this ship for me to trawl. I'm so excited! This fic was a brilliant thought experiment in self-growth and empathy.

nothing makes me go "ooooh we are NOT the same" quite like reading some post about how people talk with their parents about their interests. what do you mean you told your father about stevebucky. what do you mean he asked further questions

#i have this friend who i was on the same sports team with as kids/teens and we would carpool sometimes #and they would get in the car and start talking to me about gay ships like we would do in the comfort of messages or the very loud pool #and i'm just like. staring at my mother (very much an lgbtq ally btw. its just. weird.) like... do you not see my mother right there??? #and i'm coming to the realization their mother has probably heard them talk about like... yeah actually stevebucky. good example #their mother has probably heard them talk about stevebucky.
