do you ever think about how lestat's neediness re:sex in his relationship with louis probably at least partially stems from him knowing that magnus chose him for his body and his deeply internalized belief that he is fundamentally unlovable as a person and so he sees periods during which he and louis are not having sex as periods during which louis will realize that lestat isn't worth it. do you think lestat's little deeply fucked up brain screams at him that if louis doesn't get his regular reminder that lestat's body can give him pleasure he will get up and leave. do you think lestat notices that he is acting out and notices that their relationship grows colder and his brain screams at him that he has to prove that he is useful somehow (and the only thing worth anything about him is his body, so, get to it) and it's just this never-ending loop of lestat alienating louis and noticing it and trying to fix it and making it worse.

iwtv louis is a lunatic he's like after lestat died all i wanted was to crawl into his grave and stay entwined with him forever but i didn't love him daniel. sometime after we thought he'd died i heard steps coming up the stairs and i knew those steps i would know lestat blind but i didn't love him daniel. armand said his maker had turned him into a vampire out of love and i sat foward because that caught my attention more than anything but i didn't love him daniel. armand asked if there was love between me and lestat and i very quickly said no and pressed my lips together bitterly but i didn't love him daniel. after i was done talking to armand i sat alone in the dark murmuring lestat lestat to myself but i didn't love him daniel. christ could have made me his devout follower if he'd looked like lestat but i didn't love him daniel. christ fell short to lestat but i didn't love him daniel. daniel i didn't love him

Can we actually talk about this more please because Lestat in ep 5 is one of the most interesting versions of the character to analyze from a psychological angle but everyone is afraid to touch it because of how that episode ended and it feels like such a waste to me

you know what I (maybe a tad delusionally) believe to be a trademark louis lie by omission? the "I have neglected my duties and the house fell in disrepair" in ep5. like. the phrasing implies that the house is Like That because louis stopped cleaning, but it doesn't make sense to me that out of the two of them louis would be the househusband in the first place? (I know. race. but then out of all choices made regarding that aspect of their dynamic this one is the most shallow). like, louis is the one who always had servants in the house. this man would not be the naturally-good-at-chores type.

anyway what I'm saying is: both of them have been depressed as FUCK during these years, and lestat wasn't just upset louis didn't want to fuck him. what I would love to see in lestat's account of the events is just. him fucking ruined when claudia leaves. some good old parallels between claudia and gabrielle. him taking a firm "she is not coming back, better deal with it" stance because it's less painful than the alternative ("I miss her, I want her to come back, why does she not come back"), him spiraling further because louis is distancing himself from him too, etc, etc, etc. in conclusion: I think we don't talk about lestat literally dropping a "maybe I should kill myself" mid conversation enough

it's SO funny that when asked what he had to do to prepare for his role in IWTV Sam Reid says he had to learn how to play the piano, learn to speak French, Italian, and English with a French accent. Bailey read IWTV religiously and added her own comments, and kept an actual fucking journal she wrote entirely as Claudia. meanwhile Jacob Anderson, when asked the same question, just responds with “oh nothing, i was already emo”. icons and legends only
