On one hand i hate how people put all the blame one steven. Even before the drama i was a bit uncomfortable with the steven hate and during this drama it got so much worse. They wouldn’t have done it if ryan and shane weren’t fine with it. And steven’s shows aren’t the only expensive ones. I am sure plenty of them like it when keith from the try guys eats expensive stuff.

On the other hand now i am a little uncomfortable with him too. I had no idea why some people didn’t like steven. And it was more than the podcast thing (which is bad enough). He also owns/owned a book written by some homophobic christian and he went to a homophobic church and interviewed the pastor. And it makes me wonder what kind of christian is he. Especially the pastor thing is bad and sure maybe somehow he didn’t know what their stance on queer people is (and didn’t look it up before the interview because he didn’t think about the possibility). Maybe he hadn’t read the book yet. I have no idea but it is a red flag.

Not to talk about the watcher thing again as I’ve already kind of said my piece, but one of the most batshit insane parts of this whole unbelievable situation is that for some reason they decided that for some fucking reason the BEST time to announce this highly controversial decision was literally DAYS before they would be going on an international tour and having to face irate fans IN PERSON. Guys. What the hell. At least have the sensibility to announce a move that you HAD to have known would make people upset AFTER one of the few times you actually interact in person with your fanbase.

I hope you’re ready to investigate the Tower of London for ghosts, because I have a feeling the Londoners will be more than happy to acquaint you with the building later this week.

First of all I think most Watcher fans will agree that nobody asked for "TV quality" content. In fact I personally find most of their new shows to be extremely overproduced compared to their Buzzfeed era videos, which were backed by an actual big company. So them blowing their budget on new staff and fancy sets is something few people asked for.

"But this is their art and their company and they're allowed to make it however they want, they can't just constantly make their old stuff to retain an audience!"

I mean, yeah, if this is what they want to keep making, more power to them! But people are not obligated to 1) enjoy it and 2) pay for it. Audiences will fluctuate. Look at the Try Guys and how much their stuff has changed while still being successful. So maybe they'll get a new audience that is willing to pay for the stuff they want to make. But it's perfectly understandable for a large portion of their old fans to leave. Cuz yeah. If you wanna say "um this is capitalism sweaty" then yeah, I'll agree with you. This is capitalism. And I have better things to spend money on. I am not entitled to their art, and they are not entitled to my money. If they stop making stuff I like and have access to, I will stop watching. Taste closed.

6$ is a lot if you consider the amount of content your getting.

as somebody who used to pay for watcher’s patreon but had to stop because it’s not in my (and most people’s budget), this is a very disappointing move. i understand that making money is important, and they have a company to run, but there is literally an economic crisis right now for everyone.

stop saying it’s easy to subscribe, or implying that $6/month isn’t a lot. watcher moving to subscription based only tier guarantees a lot of fans will no longer have access to their content. let these people be upset, they have every right.
