i don’t know if this is anything but you know all the football imagery in the alchemy? what else happens in football stadiums? eras tour. and we joked all fall that eras tour was Barbie’s dream house and football was the mojo dojo casa house. so what if the alchemy we don’t need to fight is maybe our relationship as fans to Taylor.

“I haven’t come around in so long but I’m coming back so strong” she hasn’t toured since rep and she missed us.

“Hey, you, what if i told you we’re cool? That child’s play back in school is forgiven under my rule” she addresses the listener directly here, as she does in other spots in the album but specifically in but daddy i love him where she grapples with outsiders (and fans) judging her. Here she’s saying ok back to you, we’re good. Under my rule it’s all forgiven.

“Cause the sign on your heart said it’s still reserved for me” what do we do every night on tour? 🫶🏼 we’re always hearts opened for her, regardless of all the critic and push back we give her. Idk

Taylor Swift is an amazing songwriter wbk but she also has these little idiosyncrasies that are so *her* like the intentional whisper of ‘old habits die screaming’ and how she cuts off ‘how dare you say that it’s -‘, and how ‘so long London’ mimics the chime of Big Ben, and this goes back, mind you. the lyric ‘my stolen lullabies’ trails off like she was choked saying the last word (that lyric deserves it’s own essay but I digress), and she begins Last Kiss with 27 seconds of instrumentals for -reasons- and just. She’s not just a songwriter, she really is just incredibly talented and creative on all fronts, we just got lucky that she chose music as her baby.

everyone is talking about taylor’s relationship with us and im just like. she hates us because we analyze her, but she loves us because we see her. it’s a contradiction she can’t escape. on eras tour, she literally talks about how sharing her feelings with us helps her heal, and then in TTPD, she says how the curiosity and opinions feel stifling. i think it’s just one of those things. she hates blurring the lines of our relationship because of what it does to her, and she’s valid in inserting herself in the space that discusses her and being mad, but she also can’t have us without sharing herself and opening herself to the scrutiny. and this is not me abstaining fans of being invasive, but rather just making a point.

This album is about how two men broke her heart just months apart and how she was quite literally going through a mental breakdown while trying to put on a front while performing for millions of people on a world tour but you wouldn’t know that because you’re either so caught up in trying to figure out who each song is about or your so caught up in your hate for her that you’d rather make fun of her in her most vulnerable, raw, and honest state just to make yourself feel better

It’s always something to see the general public trash a Taylor album upon its release and then come around to it a few years later. Sorry it didn’t click for you right away like it did for a lot of us.

It’s such a crime that TTPD will probably never get its own tour because can you just IMAGINE the production on Who’s Afraid Of Little Old Me in the environment of a tour for that album? The dancers? The LIGHTS? What that would sound like live with a full band arrangement? What would be on the screens with how vivid the imagery is? How building, how epic, the snarl in her voice irl as it goes on, how many chills you’d have? Jesus
