what did you think in the moment when you met your ( then future ) wife katherine again by chance in that bookshop? and about the fact that she recognised you almost right away?
"I...couldn't believe my own eyes. Years had passed since I last saw her and...I didn't think I would ever see her again, and if I did, she would be happily married and have two children...I think when I saw her again, I...I thought I was hallucinating or that someone had hit me over the head and I was in fact lying somewhere in the street bleeding out and..."
"Well. I must say I...didn't think she would recognise me. That I'm just...a patient. Someone she took care of for a short time and then forgot about, like...any other patient in her care. Not to mention my, well...my face was...not at its best when we first met. I thought it’s a miracle that she...recognised me, that she wanted me, that she...felt the same about me as I did about her...I just knew that...before she could even finish her question if we wanted to go out for coffee or tea, I was already saying yes. I didn’t need to think about it. And if she’d...asked me right then and there if I wanted to marry her...my answer would have been yes, too.”

' please… don’t go ' ( jasminebeloved )
@jasminebeloved
Gareth hummed, straightening his tie once more before bending down to Katherine. His lips met hers for a brief moment, tugging them into a quick kiss, even though he would have preferred for it to last longer. Much longer. To indeed not go, but stay with her. But duty was duty.
“I’m sorry, darling,” his brow rose, and he stood straight, forcing himself away from his wife before he could change his mind, tell England to go to hell, and stay with Katherine instead.
“Work...demands my attention.”
