[ Holiday Prompt to Morty, from Bishop ]

🎄 Bishop visited Morty at Thanksgiving to deliver a self-made cake and had been invited to the Smith household for dinner in turn. The shared meal was a pleasant experience for the most part, even though he had to politely turn down a couple of dishes because of his gluten allergy.

He now wants to return that favor as he sends out multiple gifts with an invitation stuck to the main package. The gifts hold breathers for all of them to breathe in Dimension X' toxic atmosphere and a few little individual gifts.

Morty and Summer would find a one-way portal device in their package that would open a portal to Utrominon instantly, should they ever need it. They also have a 100$ gift card sitting in there for their local mall. And Rick? He would find a VERY tiny bag of crystal dust in his package.

The invitation itself is written very formally, as usual.

[ Dear Morty.

To show my gratitude for your invitation from a few weeks ago, you and your family are cordially invited to visit me in Dimension X. I will guide you through Utrominon during your stay and shall prepare dinner afterward. Unfortunately, I cannot show you the Council, but there is a variety of other locations to visit, that I am certain you and Summer would find appealing as well.

Just send me a date and time that would be fitting for a stay in Dimension X and I will make all the necessary preparations for our meeting. The breathers that I sent to you are all equipped with translators as well and should come in use during your visit, in case Rick and his oxygen pills are not available at that time. The same goes for the portal devices to Utrominon, but note that these can be used only one time.

I sincerely hope that you and your family have a pleasant holiday time. Signed, Bishop.

Waking up to Bishop's gift basket was a very pleasant surprise for the Smith siblings. Christmas had stopped being too normal since Rick had moved in with them, but compared to the lifestyle they are used to nowadays, the day mostly manages to be boring for them.

Reason why the idea of spending it doing something else, exploring another dimension is definitely exciting for them.

"Boo-yah! This is so rad! No having to sit through Dad's mind-numbing movies this year!" Summer exclaims as soon as Morty is done reading the letter out loud. She lifts her breather, clearly enthusiastic at the prospect of a trip to Dimension X. "I'm gonna take so many pictures! Everyone at school will be, like, super jealous."

Setting the first tool aside, she picks up the portal device instead, turning it in her hand. It's nothing like Rick's portal gun, and she has to admit that she's curious to see how it works. Until now all she has seen have been the Utrom triangular portals, but not how they are made.

"It's such a bummer that your friend is such a goodie two shoes, bro," she adds then with a little huff. "A portal device that can be used only once? Seriously? That's, like, so lame."

Morty lets out a sigh at her sister's comment, but he doesn't bother talking back. Trying to defend Bishop would have been a waste of breath. Besides, he too had hoped that the device would function for multiple trips. Even if it opens portal exclusively to one location, it would have still been better than having to rely on Rick or steal his portal gun to go places.

"C-C'mon, Summer. H-He's got us that coupon too! I-I bet that it covers all the birthday presents y-you'll have to buy next year," he chooses to point out instead, pointedly looking at her. He hasn't missed how quickly she has snatched away her gift card. Probably to prevent Jerry from seeing it. "I-I'll let you use some of mine too, i-if you won't tease him too much today."

The girl only shrugs at that, but he can tell that she has been properly bribed, since she doesn't try to argue. Instead, she busy herself with making a post on her Instagram about their plans for the day.

Rick, however, is a whole other matter and Morty knows that he'll be acting all grumpy to Bishop just by the way he is glaring at the tiny bag of crystals.

"I-Is the bubblegum for real? W-What the fuck am I even supposed to do w-with so little?" He grumbles, but he still pockets the gift. "C-Can hardly make one dose with this shit."

Of course Bishop would still be hang up over their last messy adventure. And then he dares to wonder why he gets called a killjoy. Whatever. He is going to do what he wants with those crystals and he's going to exploit their little trip to the other's version of Dimension X to see if he can find more.

"An-And what the hell is that crap about scientific use only? S-Synthetising drugs is fuckin' science!"

"Happy Thanksgivings-Day, Morty. Although I am still trying to understand the exact meaning of this day, I acknowledge that it is of importance here. So I thought I could bring you food that I prepared myself for this occasion. It is a gluten-free pumpkin pie."

The mentioned pie is inside a cake-box and it looks actually pretty good. Of course, Bishop refrains from mentioning that he tried all night to bake the perfect pumpkin pie and the end-result was actually his fifth attempt.

Morty's eyes go wide at the sight of the pie. Bishop's impromptu visit has been a surprise in itself, even if in a good way, but the fact that he has come bearing gifts is even more unexpected.

Or, perhaps, the teen should have seen that coming. After all, his friend is always making visible efforts to learn about human holidays and participate in their celebration. The results tend to vary, but the effort and good will behind the actions are always obviously.

"Oh g-geez, Bishop, you didn't have too!" He exclaims, but he doesn't hesitate to accept the baked good. It looks great and it smells great, so he can't way to have a slice. "T-This was...D-Did you really make this? B-By yourself? Because...wow. Y-You must be a great cook!"

The boy flashes the Utrom a bright grin as he hurries to set the pie down on the kitchen counter. He doesn't want to do something stupid as accidentally dropping it or have someone else do it.

"A-And, well, Thanksgiving is...uh, more of an excuse to eat a lot an-and stuff these days, s-so there's not much to understand," he explains then, rubbing the back of his neck. His family celebrates it out of habit for the most. "B-But how about this. S-Stay for the day, s-so you can see how it works! I-I'm sure that Mom and Dad won't mind. J-Just make sure to compliment his ham an-and you'll be fine."

Considering what a leech for praises his father is, Morty has no doubts that Jerry will love to have someone as courteous as the alien at his table.

"S-Still, uh, if I had to explain Thanksgiving...I-It's supposed to be a day when y-you remember all the things you're grateful for an-and share it with your family. L-Like...I'm really grateful to have you as a friend."

Before commenting on each pair, I'm gonna say something that applies to them all: Rick and the blorbs need to get their shit together !!

💞: Feels attracted to them, but can’t work out if it’s platonic, sexual, or romantic attraction they’re feeling.

I can't really blame Krang too much for being unable to decide how he likes Rick, especially considering how hard Rick makes it for him to figure it out xD Though, the denial is all on Krang, no room discussion there.

They are definitely science bros, and it shows when they get along and when they band together against Subprime xD But at the same time there's obviously more there. Even without counting the kissing, they do flirt...in their very particular way xD

For what concerns Rick, I think he's just going with the flow. He does like Krang, even if he gets on his nerves, and he has fun being around him. So he merely does what the mood of the room allows. He's content to be whatever with the blorb, be it friends, friends with benefits or something else. As long as they stay buds, he'll be onboard x3

Sorry Krang, if you're hoping that Rick will help you figure it out...It's not happening! xD

I dare to say that on the topic of hating each other's guts, those two are on the same page...and it might be the only thing the agree on, which says a lot, if not it all, about the sort of relationship they have xD

Yet, we've seen Subprime making up excuses to cover the fact that he's jealous of the better bond RIck has with Krang, so...there's definitely some form of attraction there. Tbh Rick keeps pulling at Subprime's metaphorically pigtails (and at his literal spines too), and that's very much kindergarten courting behaviour xD I think we can safely say that Subprime isn't the only one to feel it.

Also, the freaking tension between these two is unbearable half of the time.

❔❔❔ [necessary addition I dare to say xD]

The first thing that comes to my mind whenever I see Bishop dealing with Rick is "poor sod" xD He's so nice and mostly clueless, he doesn't deserve to be tormented like that. Unfortunately, his personality is the reason why Rick has fun targeting him, even despite the fact that Morty tends to scold him if he finds out that he had been messing with his friend.

Still, even if it's hard to believe, Rick does like Bishop too. He never misses the chance to make fun of him or to complain about how serious he is, but deep down he recognises the Utrom's skills and he also appreciates him being friends with Morty (even if Rick would die before admit this).

None of that, though, it going to stop him from keep on sending the wildest mixed signals in poor Bishop's direction xD

💛: Loves them platonically / 💝: Looks up to them as a role model.

And after all these confusing, messed up relationships, we have Morty and Bishop who are so wholesome <3 I already love their friendship, with Morty teaching Bishop about Earth (and well, he is a role model / mentor in this sense), but also with them butting heads about morals, behaviours and rules xD

I like the thought that Morty can teach Bishop that, most of the time, things aren't black and white, and that he needs to learn to navigate the grey in-between and also bend the rules sometimes.

On the other hand, Bishop can remind Morty that there's still good and trustworthy people out there, since his experiences with Rick have been pushing him to think that it's never been true.

[🎄] Rocksteady has to bend over quite a bit to hand out what would be a very colorful and old-fashioned mixtape. It has Anarchy and Peace stickers all over it and the casket of the mixtape has band logos and names scribbled on it with different markers. The paper inside the casket has all songs listed that are on the mixtape. 'No More Heroes', 'Babylon's Burning', Skankin’ to the Beat', 'Boredom', 'Sheena Is a Punk Rocker', 'Rudy, A Message to You' and several more. All early punk, ska and even some jazzy ones.

"Hey bowlhead, 'ts from me an' Bebop. Some actual beats before all the shitmas carols be cookin' yer brain! The last one's from Bebop's gramps! If Bee didn't have ta help the boss stealin' some shit for Krangy, he'd be here too. Hey, is that christmas roast yer dad is cookin'? Ya have a bite for a pal too, don'tcha?"

Morty is left staring at the mixtape for a good ten seconds. Not only he hadn't been expecting someone from the Technodrome to come visit him, instead of Rick or Summer, but being given a present too? That already felt almost like some wild dream.

Small fingers prod at the casket, as if they had been trying to make sure that it was real and they hesitate for a split moment before he opens it. He doesn't say or shows it, but in truth he was expecting it to be some kind of prank. Instead, the cassette that appears before his eyes isn't just authentic and legit. It also looks heartfelt.

"G-Geez, is it...I-I mean, for me? T-That's...you know, I-I wasn't..." He stutters, pieces of sentences spilling from his mouth. He's not making much sense and he's painfully aware of it, but he can't help himself. He's so stunned and so touched that he can't find the right words to express what he's feeling.

To an eye attentive enough, or to someone who knows what being undervalued and neglected means, what he's experiencing is pretty obvious. He simply can't believe that someone has gone through the trouble of getting him a present, especially one that's handmade, even if they had no obligations to.

He is struggling to wrap his mind around the concept.

"Uh, I-I...Thanks? Y-Yeah, thanks!" He ends up blurting out, even if the shock doesn't fully fade from his expression. "An-And say thanks to Bebop from me too. This...This is awesome. F-For real."

The mention of the roast is almost a lifesaver, because it gives Morty the chance to leave behind his stunned awkwardness. Thankfully, because he has already made enough of a fool of himself.

"Y-Yeah, that's...Dad makes it every year. An-And sure, there's plenty for you to eat! W-We usually end up with leftovers every year, s-so..." He moves out of the way, to allow Rocksteady inside the house. "M-Maybe you can even get some to take back to the Technodrome. F-For Bebop!"
