she rolled her eyes as crash pulled his hand away and dropped into the chair beside her, almost too animated and dramatic to feel like he belonged scouring the stacks of lewis library. 

sometimes holly questioned why he was even attending princeton to begin with, not that he wasn't intelligent enough -she found him to be scarily clever when he wanted to be and definitely ivy league material - but he came across as so completely uninterested in anything academic that she wondered why he was wasting his time bothering to obtain a degree at all when he should be doing something more adventurous and exciting.

"i thought we'd already established your almost pathological need to insert yourself in to my much needed alone time was the real reason we're struggling to reach bff status." she was aiming for standoffish but she was fairly sure the small smile tugging at her lips was ruining her efforts.

when she was being completely honest with herself she found him to be more than just a little bit adorable despite his over inflated sense of ego and his never ending well of charm - when it came to the opposite sex holly had always had a type and crash mccay (as dangerous and chaotic as his first name implied) stamped everyone of her attraction bingo boxes, she knew if she wasn’t careful she’d go and do something completely idiotic like develop feelings more complicated then just a harmless crush.

she really should have made a more concerted effort to stay as far away from him as possible the moment they'd met. keeping him firmly locked in the friend section of her mind was proving to be just as difficult for her now as it had been for her at sixteen when it had been her best friend making her laugh and blush and daydream about happily ever afters that would inevitably never come to pass.

"what are you doing here anyway? the last time i invited you to study with me you told me libraries made you break out in hives."
