“Don’t listen to them. They don’t know you.” - Wynn
One of the things that Natalie loved the most about Wynn was her boundless optimism. The sure and certain belief she had that things would be good, and that people were good.
     That she was good.
People weren't good, though. Things usually turned out like shit. And Natalie?
     Natalie wasn't good, either.
Tumblr media
"You should go get a teacher, Wynn." Natalie said, planting her hands flat against the cafeteria table. "Let them know there's a fight in the cafeteria."
"Huh? Who's fighting? I didn't see anyone fighting-" Someone asked from down the table, looking up from their homework -- just in time to watch Natalie vault the table, launching herself 'claws' first into the throat of the boy who'd been pantomiming vulgarity about her from across the room.
Poor guy. He didn't know her. If he had, he wouldn't have dared.

“I’ll always be right here for you, whenever you need me.”
Natalie curled herself closer to Kaibara, face pressed close to the steady beat of her heart in the hollow of her throat. Curled in her generous lap, the smaller woman seemed to be doing her best to disappear into her friend and hide away from the world that had hurt her so. Arms wrapped around Kaibara's neck as if she were the only anchor left to her, she really did wish that she could fade away and just... never have to deal with another person again.
Of course, if she did that, she'd never be able to see Kaibara again, or get one of her life saving hugs. So... perhaps, not the most tempting idea after all.

"I know." She whispered, finding her voice after one long, shuddering breath. She squeaked a little, further exposure of her weakness; but she trusted Kaibara to see it, and hear it, and hold her through it. A wry laugh bubbled up and she nuzzled closer again, taking a deep breath of Kaibara's sweet, floral scent, and resting against the softness of her brown skin.
"That's why I'm h-here." She chuckled, her voice muffled, and quiet. "I didn't... w-want to be alone. For once."

“I’ll protect you.” - Kouga
Natalie's hands flexed against the post she'd been tied to, blinking over at the demon that prowled around her, his face dark with fury. She didn't understand why he'd say that, or why he'd care - she didn't know him. She didn't know anybody in this country, least of all any demons. She wasn't, however, going to become suddenly picky about who was going to help her out when she was stuck to this stupid post like a seventeenth century sacrifice.
Tumblr media
She heard the infuriated snarl of the approaching beasts and gasped, straining again to pull at the chains that bound her there. She wanted to ask why he'd bother, but there'd be time for that later, when Zak's enemies hadn't conspired to sacrifice her to a fucking demon.
"I can't get off the post! It's - I'm - Shit!" She gasped, rattling the chains as she slipped and fell in the mud she'd churned up by writhing and fighting against her bonds. She didn't like just sitting here. She wanted to protect herself, but there was something about these chains and the rope they'd braided inside of them. They felt like they were sapping her powers away, and more than that, her strength. Had they been enchanted? Cursed? She didn't know, exactly, but it was something - and it was keeping her here, just like they wanted.
"What are you going to do? Kill it? By yourself?"
Insanity. What an arrogant man. But really, what choice did she have but to hope for the best, and cheer him on? She swore again and rubbed at her eyes with her forearm, angry tears stinging them through the rain that made all of this more difficult than it needed to be.
Tumblr media
"Please." She finally gasped, a definite tremble taking over her muscles as she saw a hulking shape break through the trees in the distance. "Please, don't let me die."

“Do you want to just order pizza, watch a movie, and forget about it all for a minute?” - Wynn
Tumblr media
Natalie didn't usually eat pizza. It was fried, it was fatty, it was carbs and cheese and usually red meat. Cauliflower crust was a concession she was sometimes willing to make, but it still ended up greasy, half the time, and she just... couldn't make herself swallow it.
Usually being the key word, there.
Right now, she couldn't see how her diet even mattered. Everything sucked. The world was awful. What was the point in keeping to a diet at this point?
"Just load me up with cheese and grease." Natalie moaned, despair clear in her voice. "Prep me for the slab. I may as well just die."
