Forever thinking about the Rocket owned businesses, like the bars, restaurants, nightclubs and game corners. But, yakuza also own things such as taxi services and trucking companies. Which makes sense, considering a complex organization like Rocket is going to want to have a fair amount of control of how their freight is shipped and moved.

I like the idea of the driving apps like Uber and Lyft never taking off in places where Rocket's taxi services are active, because they actually pay their drivers well, and the people using the taxi know WAY better than to skip out on tipping the yakuza.

Proton isn't a career battler, neither is he competitive. He isn't interested in pursuing that path either. But I feel like he'd REALLY get a footing in Hoennian style Pokémon contests. It fits him more, he's got a personality for the stage. He'd dominate Cool Contests. And I'm not saying that because of the "wow Proton you're so cool" meme, but because he and his Pokémon do have the type of personality and appearance that would be considered "cool" on stage.

Proton's dynamic with the Indigo League goes as follows:

Brock: Not huge fans of each other, like at all. Proton actually finds Brock's hardened demeanor offputting. They haven't interacted much.

Misty: Actually, they haven't met before. She was still a fairly new gym leader around the time of RBY's events, and Proton had very little interest in Cerulean City as a whole.

Lt. Surge: His ex-pat coworker. Surge never put up with Proton's erratic behavior, and Proton never got close enough to his division's activity for them to try and further any type of dynamic beyond "we tolerate each other when necessary."

Erika: Believe it or not? Best friends. One of the first "victims" of Proton's tendency to just invite himself into someone's life and declare himself their friend. They read shojo manga together.

Koga: Pseudo mentor and mentee dynamic right here. Koga is one of the few that can actually humble Proton, both mentally and physically. Proton respects Koga as someone who is/was in close connection to Giovanni.

Sabrina: The way they went from "girl I can't stand you" to "girl you terrify me" to "you're a sister to me" is kind of funny. His respect for Sabrina is on par with his respect for Giovanni. They're besties in the worst way possible, because Sabrina helps Proton be a problem for people that Sabrina doesn't like. Boss #2.

Blaine: That's another kooky ex-coworker. He likes Blaine. They're both super eccentric. Affectionately calls him "old man." They don't really interact much anymore for Cinnabar Island reasons.

The fun part about Proton's oral fixation is that it crosses the wires with the way he strikes at people in a fight: he has killed people by locking his jaw on the throat and crushing the airway, or, puncturing the carotid artery.

Sure, you'll get the most mind blowing oral of your life and get marked by him with those abnormally sharp teeth, but, he is also actively fighting against the urge to literally rip a chunk out of you and swallow-- if he likes you enough. Put your fingers in his mouth and see what happens. Could be a great time. Could be an awful time. But he's going to enjoy himself one way or another.

Love is devotion, loyalty and sacrifice. It's sticking your neck out for someone, and trusting that they aren't going to cut your throat out. It's putting your life on the line, because you cannot handle seeing them die, and you could not fathom a life where they aren't standing by your side. It's drinking tainted sludge if it means you get the last of the fresh water, because the pipes are corroded in this part of the city. Love is giving you the larger portion of kimbap, because it has your favorite fillings inside of it. Love is holding god at gunpoint and threatening him with retribution if he dares to step in between the two of you.

Love is allowing yourself to go mad, because you don't understand love, but it's found you, and now you can't run from it, because you need it.

Yknow what, yeah, gonna use the black out rules. If you have Fragmentation Syndrome and die, you respawn at the last Pokémon Center you visited.

That's the thing about being more data than human! MissingNo only exists to duplicate and mimic. If you die while hosting the fragmentation, lucky you, your body respawns, but the organic flesh to corrupted cells ratio starts to tip in the other direction.

Try not to die too much.

If any effect requires a saving throw to be made, the DC is 15. Any subsequent rolls on the Glitch Table immediately end when another Glitch is selected, unless stated otherwise.

Proton loses a Hit Die of his maximum HP until he finishes a long rest. This effect can stack.

Proton may use Glitchy Step immediately, costing no action.

Proton casts Slow on himself.

The last Attack or Spell Proton used is disabled until recharged on a roll of 6 on a d6

It's just occurred to me that Proton has never used an oven before and has no idea how to navigate one.

Microwave? Absolutely. Those plug in stove tops? All day. Rice cooker? Of course.

Do not leave him alone with an oven though.

It's a mix of growing up poor as dirt, and having access to 7-Eleven all the time, I think. He doesn't have an oven.

Or maybe he does have an oven and he uses it as a pantry LOL.

Since it's Sunday and the topic of the this day is always centered around dating, sexuality/gender preferences, etc., here's some thoughts about this guy:

Dating/getting romantically involved with Proton is a really complicated process. There's definitely an allure and curiosity that comes with him because of his status in the underground, and his unique, attractive features. It's understandable why people are drawn to Proton.

Keeping him as healthy company requires understanding that he is mentally ill and physically disabled.

There are a lot of things that he can and cannot do, depending on the day and whether or not his Fragmentation Syndrome is flaring up. Physical touch and activity can be extremely painful for him on low functioning days. He needs to be able to trust that his partner is going to be patient and help him.

Mentally, Proton has many traits of AuADHD, and has experienced a lot of physical and mental trauma related to racism, prejudice, food insecurity, poverty, violence and assault. His coping mechanisms aren't exactly the healthiest. He's prone to lashing out and getting defensive, both verbally and physically, if he feels as though he is unsafe, or someone is getting combative.

Anybody who Proton would consider a partner, needs to understand these things, and be willing to create safe and comfortable boundaries for both parties in order to have a fulfilling relationship with the guy.

In terms of where he lands on the gender/sexuality spectrum? It's something that Proton is still unpacking. He grew up with a lot of toxic and misogynistic beliefs that he has had to unlearn. Someone on the outside looking in would probably classify Proton as pansexual, but he hasn't come to that conclusion yet. He just uses the word 'queer'. He's attracted to people with queer lifestyles. Gender expression is also complicated to him; unlearning gender roles and stereotypes for clothing, behavior and appearance is an ongoing task. Interestingly enough, he has had an easier time expressing himself since his accident. Something about a near-death experiences forced him to live a little more authentically. He uses He/Him pronouns, but, They/Them would probably apply to him in the future once he feels more secure in being "different," so to speak.

In terms of building for the future? He's very unlikely to want to start a family. He's actually unable to reproduce because of Fragmentation Syndrome, for starters, but he already has a difficult enough time taking care of himself to begin with. And he doesn't take to children at all. Sure, he interacts with younger characters from time to time, but, he has no paternal drive. He's also unlikely to pursue potential partners if they have their own children already.

All in all, it takes work with Proton, like it does with anybody else. But there's some specifics that needed to be invested in for someone to achieve a long-term dynamic with the guy.

HOOK UPS THOUGH? That's easy. Just don't expect him to call you back unless he really liked you.

Family is complicated for Proton. His biological family was chaotic because of a clash of morals and belief systems, but it's not like he hated his entire family. In fact, he loved his parents, despite the fact that they perpetuated the out of date, problematic way in which he was raised as a neurodivergent child. And his parents both loved him too. He didn't even come to resent his abusive grandfather until later down the line when he was living with him and being subjected to the unfiltered xenophobia 24/7.

If you asked him who his family was today, he'd say that he has none. Family-like dynamics and "found family" are not the same thing to him. He's not going to be able to replace his parents. He's not going to be able to give himself a sibling that he never had. But, he still has value in those family-like connections. It's something that was instilled in him by Giovanni and Rocket as a whole.

So, if Proton says that you are "like family" to him, that's still a pretty big deal, even though it's never going to replicate the traditional structure. He doesn't want to replicate it. What he has now, is it's own concept entirely.
