What led to this (orufrey comic, cw an uncomfortable/creepy scene)
#witch hat tag#orufrey#er.... i'm too tired to have anything to say..i worked several days on this.#wait.. didn't i say just recently here that i probably wouldn't ever depict 'what if alaira is qifrey's sort-of ex'. What's going on#i don't even remember deciding to draw this..it's all a blur..i'm not sure why i WOULD decide to draw delicate scenes in my head#that i wouldn't really want to share with anyone/discuss so why did i draw it...#some part of me really really wants to draw things that are more and more true to myself...#maybe because of my alienation with most romance/shipping/dynamics the rest of the world depicts.#orufrey really is perfectly suited to me - what i read in the text and what is in my head. well anyway#i am TIRED of drawing poses and angles and..maybe now i will actually take a break from drawing bc of the tediousness of Angles#btw it really is a 'stretch of time' . . . assuming witches graduate age 18-20#well orufrey are canonically 30-ish. they've only had agott around for presumably about TWO years (?) bc she took the test age 10#and it feels like oru moving in/unknown atelier acquisition/building (?) .. i guess that could be a year or so before agott at most#(she was the first disciple) so... ????????? What about the other 7 or so years ?!?!?!!?!?! Unemployed Brimhat Hatred era#that time is very nebulous. after qifrey went to the tower i feel like it's been implied he and oru drifted apart a little.#certainly they didn't live together at first... no way. that doesn't feel like how it is based on things oru has said about becoming Eye#idk. I'm tired now. i don't usually think of alaira as necessarily qifrey's ex and this being how things went in that 'sliver of time'.#i usually prefer the idea that they have their first kiss with each other in their 30s cause That's Just The Orufrey Lifestyle#just felt like making a more relatable alternative view of my own Cai Orufrey Canon one time. btw im a big monoshipper and it hurt a bit#let's leave it there. this is surely the most i've worked on a 'single' art - though now i realise just how much longer the fic took :')

10th February >> Daily Reflection/Commentary on Today’s Mass Readings for Roman Catholics on the Fifth Sunday In Ordinary Time, Cycle C (Job 7:1-4, 6-7; 1 Corinthians 9:16-19,22-23 & Mark 1:29-39)
Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Cycle C
Reflections/ Commentary on Job 7:1-4, 6-7; 1 Corinthians 9:16-19,22-23; Mark 1:29-39
THERE IS A HUGE CONTRAST between the First Reading and the Gospel in today’s Mass. The Book of Job was written a very long time ago, between 500 and 700 years before Christ but today’s passage could have appeared in an agony column in one of our tabloid newspapers.
It is the voice of someone who is terribly depressed and can find no meaning whatever in life. “Is not man’s life on earth nothing more than pressed service, his time no better than hired drudgery?” How often have we heard people speak like that? Perhaps we have felt like that ourselves sometimes. Fed up with life, bored with our work.
Such a person is “like the slave, sighing for the shade, or the workman with no thought but his wages”. How many people do we know who get no enjoyment or satisfaction whatever out of their work? “I just do it for the money.” How sad! At the same time, in the modern industrial world, so much of the work really is tedious and repetitive; one is just a cog in a huge machine. This was so well described in Charlie Chaplin’s film “Modern Times”. We should be grateful that the computer is now taking over so much of this dreary production line work.
How slow evening comes!
Job goes on: “Months of delusion I have assigned to me, nothing for my own but nights of grief. Lying in bed I wonder, ‘When will it be day?’ Risen, I think, ‘How slowly evening comes!’ Restlessly I fret till twilight falls.”
Day after day, night after night drags on. The days crawl by. I become just a clockwatcher, waiting for the lunch break or the end of the day when I can escape to some place (like a pub) and forget about life. The nights are worse when sleep is broken by anxiety and tension.
What kind of a life is that? Where is it going? Where is the value? Where is the meaning? At the same time, “Swifter than a weaver’s shuttle my days have passed, and vanished, leaving no hope behind.” Individual days drag by but, before I realise it, my whole life has gone by. And what have I to show for it?
Before I know it, it is too late. “Remember that my life is but a breath, and that my eyes will never again see joy.” Is that a picture of my life? If not, do you know people who live(?) like that? My life can never be lived over again. I have just got one chance. Maybe today is the time for us to get our act together. As they say, “Today is the first day of the rest of my life.”
A day – and night – in the life of Jesus
Let us now look at the Gospel where there is a very different picture altogether. It is a description of part of a typical day in the life of Jesus. The day had begun by Jesus going into the synagogue of Capernaum because it was a Sabbath day. (This is not included in today’s passage.) There he made a tremendous impression by his teaching which had a unique air of authority missing from most teachers of the Law. (We spoke about that last Sunday.) While still in the synagogue, a possessed man burst in and made a great scene. Jesus overpowered the evil spirit and cured the man. (And we also spoke about that last week.)
Then Jesus left the synagogue (where today’s Gospel begins) and, because it was still the Sabbath, when work and travel were forbidden, Jesus and his disciples went to Simon Peter’s house, where Peter’s mother-in-law was confined to bed with a fever.
Jesus immediately healed her and lifted her to her feet. What did the good lady do? Did she slump into a chair and wait for sympathy to be poured out on her? No, she immediately began to serve the needs of those in the house with her. She did this not because that was the duty of a woman but because it is the duty of every Christian to serve. The restoration of her health meant that she could once more take care, according to her gifts, of the community.
No moaning or groaning
Then, after sunset, when the Sabbath was over, the people brought along those who were sick and in the power of evil spirits (some of these may have been just psychologically ill) and he healed them all.
What a difference here from the Book of Job! No moaning or groaning here. No feeling sorry for oneself. Jesus is totally occupied in putting himself at the service of people and bring healing and wholeness back into their lives.
And this is what gives meaning, fulfilment, satisfaction and happiness into people’s lives – when I am making my unique contribution to the well-being of those around me and of my society. I am not watching the clock for the next chance to escape. I am not just thinking of the pay packet.
The life of Jesus is telling us that life is for service, for giving, for sharing. And, if we all did that, how enriched we all would be! The more we all give, the more we all get.
But we live in a very individualistic, me-me-me society. If we cannot grab things for ourselves, then we think we will be losers. It’s everyone for himself or herself. Some make it and some don’t. And if you can’t make it, don’t expect anyone to help you. There is no such thing as society, as Margaret Thatcher is quoted as saying. Be like her. If you can’t make it on your own, forget it.
This is a pure recipe for us to end up like the man in the First Reading. And we see many doing so. Just walk around the streets of our city and you can see for yourself. People who have fallen through the cracks. We pity them, perhaps despise them but feel no responsibility for their being like that or doing something to integrate them into an actively mutually serving community (because that hardly exists?). It is their own fault, their own choice for being unemployed and unemployable, for being alcoholics, drug addicts, wastrels, a burden on the hard-working taxpayer.
Recharging batteries
And then at the end of the day, what does Jesus do? Put his feet up, slump in front of the tv with a beer in his hand? Go down to the pub for some craic? No, he goes off to a lonely place to pray. He needed this. He had given away so much of himself that day that he now needed to be by himself, to recharge his batteries and, above all, to get in touch with his Father, the source of all his energy, and to restore wholeness and peace. He will come away from this experience truly energised and ready to share and serve.
There is a need of all of us for rest but rest that refreshes and rebuilds, as opposed to pure escapist or dissipating activity. We rest in order to come back to a life of service not in order to get away from it. Ideally, as sculptor Eric Gill once said, our work should be our hobby, something we really enjoy doing.
On the other hand, while many are escapists, others are compulsive helpers; they need to be needed. What they do looks like service but it is really satisfying an inner fear of being passed over unnoticed. Such people need to learn how to say No without feeling guilty, as Jesus does in today’s gospel. Otherwise they face burnout and breakdown.
As in all things, balance is the secret, a balance between the needs of others and our own.

Daredevil 101: Born Again, Part 1
And we’re back!
Now I tried, guys. I really tried to condense this down as much as possible. But Born Again is the most famous Daredevil story - and one of the most famous comics - of all time. There’s so much to talk about: the plot itself, the craft, the impact, the character analysis, the religious symbolism. Parts of it really are That Good, while others are...less so (there are plot holes, and it pretty much falls apart at the end).
I had to break it up into two posts, and they’re gonna be long ones, but please stick with me - it’s worth it. (And of course, the comic itself is worth a read, for its landmark status if for nothing else.)
So. When last we left our hero, Nelson and Murdock had gone under and things were tense between Matt and his nearest and dearest - Foggy and Glori at this point, basically. It’s at this point that Frank Miller comes back to the book, teaming up with David Mazzucchelli, who frankly doesn’t get enough credit for the sheer beauty of his work.
We start in Mexico, where we see...Karen Page, who has been AWOL for nearly a decade at this point. When we last saw her, her Hollywood career was taking off, but...things have changed:
Tumblr media
Karen is now a junkie, eking out a meager living by making really low rent porn, because in Frank Miller’s world, all women eventually become sex workers. It’s less the sex work that bothers me - though it’s part of a gross pattern for Miller - and more how low Karen’s morals have sunk here, and the abuse she suffers in this storyline. She’ll turn it around, though! (P.S. Deborah Ann Woll’s absolute disdain for this plotline brings me so much joy.)
Back in New York, Matt is blissfully unaware that his life has just been destroyed:
Tumblr media
These opening splash pages of the first four issues, all of Matt asleep, are famous and with good reason. If you took out the rest of the comics, they’d still tell a story. Anyway, even though his full bed is oddly narrow, please take note of how sprawled out he is. He’s still twisted in the sheets, but he’s taking up horizontal space as well as vertical.
(Also, this is just gorgeous. Look at that lighting!)
But Matt wakes up to a very bad day:
Tumblr media
Those last two panels are, of course, the machinations of Fisk, who is using his knowledge of Matt’s secret identity - and his enormous behind-the-scenes pull - to systematically destroy Matthew Murdock’s finances, credibility, and life.
To add insult to injury, that cassette tape is Glori breaking up with Matt for being flaky and emotionally unavailable, which...legit, honestly.
And the hits keep coming:
Tumblr media
Matt’s never really had financial problems as an adult - even when first the Storefront and then Nelson and Murdock were struggling, Foggy insulated him from that by taking on all the bookkeeping responsibility himself. (Whether or not Foggy wanted to do that, or whether either of them ever acknowledge that that’s not fair, is never addressed.) Even though he’s unemployed at the start of this story, you can see how cocky he is about how quickly he’ll bounce back in the first panel of the page above this. Born Again never really delves into the class issues at play here - nor do any Daredevil comics, really - but for someone who has been tremendously well off for his entire adult life but who grew up in poverty, this must be even more of a nightmare.
Meanwhile, Glori’s apartment gets broken into and trashed. Uncomfortable calling Matt, who she just dumped, she calls Foggy instead (remember, he’s an ex-in-law as well as a friend). He rushes over, helps her file the police report, and gives her a place to stay when she’s too freaked out to sleep at home. And, well...
Tumblr media
This is a little fast, yes - and it’s a rebound for the recently-divorced Foggy as well as for Glori - but hey, they’re both free agents and she’s not Matt’s property. (Foggy is a perfect gentleman and sleeps on the couch while Glori takes the bedroom, btw.) But as far as I’m concerned, Glori has the right idea: ride the Murdock train as long as it’s fun, then hop off and let Foggy comfort you and ply you with coffee in front of a cozy fire.
Meanwhile, the cruelest blow of all strikes Matt: a cop named Manolis, a former witness in one of Matt’s trials, comes forward and says Matt bribed him to lie on the stand. Matt stands in very real danger of losing his freedom, let along his legal license. Fisk is gleeful:
Tumblr media
Please note Fisk fanboying over Foggy in that last panel. Please also note how gorgeous that last panel is. I want to see a whole comic in grayscale from Mazzucchelli (and colorist Christie Scheele).
Foggy manages to get Matt’s sentence reduced to being disbarred and not fined or jailed. And, well, I could’ve probably cut this next page but I’m always gonna include avocado hugs:
Tumblr media
Aw. P.S. Foggy why do you look like you’re going to the opera right now.
Devastated, ruined, and barely clinging to sanity, Matt returns home - but here’s where Fisk screws up. He can’t resist that final grandstand play, even though he knows he shouldn’t do it:
He blows up Matt’s house.
Tumblr media
Despite having someone to blame, Matt’s sanity is fraying even faster, especially since he’s effectively cash poor and homeless. (SWEETIE. GO STAY WITH FOGGY.) And so we get the opening of issue #2 (yeah, that was all one issue up there!):
Tumblr media
Compare this to the first issue splash and you can see how much more twisted and compressed Matt is, how tangled around himself he’s become. (This pose in particular is homaged again and again, especially by Samnee.) When he wakes, his thoughts are equally tangled:
Tumblr media
In his rambling, broken thoughts you can see that he’s losing it - struggling to follow the thread of what’s happened to him and what his plan is. I love the way Mazzucchelli draws his arms up like that, held up for a block but also like he’s trying to figure out a way to fit into those compressed, claustrophobic vertical panels.
And then:
Tumblr media
This is the very next page, and I honestly gasped aloud the first time I saw it. It’s such a brilliant visual contrast - Matt in tight, twisted red verticals; Fisk in these expansive blue horizontals. Fisk fits perfectly in his panel. He has plenty of breathing room. He owns the whole city. It’s so wonderfully, masterfully done.
Matt pulls it together enough to call Foggy for help, but Glori answers at 7 am - remember, she spent a chaste night at Foggy’s - and Matt, already paranoid to the point of irrationality, snaps further. He starts calling over and over again, veering between threatening them and begging Foggy for help because there’s definitely something wrong with him:
Tumblr media
He makes his way outside, vaguely on his way to kill the Kingpin, but goes into another paranoid funk on the subway and attacks a cop. He leaves more pleading messages for Foggy from a pay phone - but without putting any money in, so he’s hallucinating a lengthy conversation with the operator - and finally makes it to Fisk’s.
(Side note: Matt’s “insanity” is never specifically diagnosed as any particular condition and comes on very fast (though believably, in context). Take the depiction of mental illness in this story with a thirty-year-old grain of salt, please.)
Meanwhile, what’s up with Karen? Well, she’s still strung out, and now Fisk’s assassins are trying to kill her, so that he’s the only one alive who knows Matt’s secret. All Karen knows is that she needs to get to New York, where Matt can protect her.
Simultaneously, Matt makes it to Fisk’s:
Tumblr media
It doesn’t go well for him. (And yes, Fisk wears a speedo a LOT in the comics.)
Fisk kicks his ass, then has his underlings douse Matt’s unconscious body with whiskey, stick him in a stolen cab, and push it into the river, so that the cops will assume Matt got drunk in the aftermath of his ruined life and drove blindly off the docks.
But.
Tumblr media
Now in these panels Fisk’s blues are giving way to red, and though they’re still horizontal, they no longer have the peaceful majesty of the ones above. He’s too big in the second and too small in the third; he doesn’t fit comfortably in his space anymore. His control is crumbling. #VISUALSTORYTELLING
Anyway, Matt survived! He makes it from the East River to Hell’s Kitchen (which is on the Hudson, but whatever), where he is promptly hit by a cab, then passes out in the garbage, because he is Matt Murdock.
In his little garbage nest, he dreams of a mysterious woman who came to him in the hospital, right after he was blinded:
Tumblr media
And so we begin issue #3:
Tumblr media
IN THE LITERAL GARBAGE. #trashpigeon Curled tighter and tighter because he’s still on his downward spiral. In fact, he is promptly stabbed after this. Because why not, at this point?
Meanwhile, Ben has started to investigate Matt’s disbarment, because he knows Matt wouldn’t bribe a witness. He goes to talk to Officer Manolis, the witness in question, and discovers that Manolis has a sick child and that Fisk is paying for his medical care...conditionally. But the son dies, so Manolis agrees to spill to Ben:
Tumblr media
Matt collapses at Fogwell’s.
Meanwhile, that nurse, Lois, is actually one of Fisk’s enforcers:
Tumblr media
Ben is effectively silenced for a few terrified issues, and the Manolis lead is dead in the water (and literally).
But salvation is coming! Literally, because Matt is found by a nun who brings him back to her church and nurses him back to health:
Tumblr media
This is the start of issue #4. I’ll get into the rest of the issue in the next post, but I wanted to include this with the three splash pages above (and the last page of #3 ends with an equally religious pose, with Maggie holding Matt Pieta-style. Here we see Matt almost-but-not-quite in the crucifixion pose - his arms are down but held awkwardly out, his legs together in a way no one would ever sleep, a wound in his side. He’s even got a Jesus beard.
[EDIT: @lifted-nevermore helpfully pointed out to me that "the pose in the last splash reads a lot more as Jesus rising from his tomb to his disciples after his three days of death. Less crucifixion and more resurrection” which of course is a far more logical interpretation, given the story context. Whoops!]
This is the heaviest religious imagery we’d get in Daredevil until “Guardian Devil” 25 years later, and honestly the show hits that note harder than the comics ever have. But here’s where Catholicism and Matt Murdock become inextricably linked. (Obviously there have been religious themes throughout the story, they didn’t start with this page.)
But who is Maggie, and why did she come looking for him? How does Matt get his life back together? What will happen to Karen, and Ben, and Foggy and Glori? STAY TUNED.

Hong Kong, Dominic Cummings, New Zealand: Your Monday Briefing
(Want to get this briefing by email? Here’s the sign-up.)
Good morning.
We’re covering protests in Hong Kong as China tightens its control, outrage against a top British aide who violated lockdown, and The Times’s front page on the loss of nearly 100,000 lives in the U.S. to the coronavirus pandemic.
The protest underscored the outrage of residents after Beijing on Friday proposed new security laws that would tighten its control over Hong Kong.
The proposals, which were unveiled at the opening of the National People’s Congress, also highlighted the challenges facing the pro-democracy movement. Attendance was far lower compared with the huge rallies in 2019 against a bill that would have allowed extraditions to mainland China. Some protesters feel more hopeless and afraid.
The police have shown that they plan assertive action to stop mass gatherings from gaining force.
Quote of note: “I wouldn’t use optimistic,” one resident said of her outlook on the protests. “But I would say that if we do not insist, we will not see hope. It’s because we insist, that hope will remain out there.”
Analysis: President Xi Jinping’s move against Hong Kong has echoes of President Vladimir Putin’s seizure of Crimea from Ukraine in 2014 — a brash move by an autocratic leader risking international condemnation to resist what he sees as foreign encroachment, Steven Lee Myers, our Beijing bureau chief, writes.
The push to reopen churches
President Trump is pressing U.S. officials to allow church gatherings — a step that other countries have already taken, sometimes with regret.
In Germany, for instance, where religious houses of worship have been reopened for weeks, 40 churchgoers have tested positive for the coronavirus after a Baptist church service in Frankfurt.
Other places are just now lifting restrictions. In France, a court last week ordered the government to allow in-person religious services, making the country one of the last in Western Europe to reopen churches, mosques and synagogues.
Large gatherings of worshipers have been linked to the spread of the virus in some places, most notably in South Korea, where a single church group accounted for more than half of the country’s early infections.
Outrage grows against top British aide
Prime Minister Boris Johnson resisted calls on Sunday to fire his most influential adviser, Dominic Cummings, after reports that he had violated Britain’s lockdown rules.
Mr. Cummings had driven 260 miles to his parents’ house in Northern England after he had contracted the coronavirus. A statement released by Mr. Johnson said that Mr. Cummings had been unable to line up care for his young child after he and his wife began showing virus symptoms.
Official remarks: “I believe that in every respect, he has acted responsibly, and legally, and with integrity,” Mr. Johnson said. But a spokesman for the opposition Labour Party disagreed, saying, “The British people do not expect there to be one rule for them and another rule for Dominic Cummings.”
If you have 7 minutes, this is worth it
Leading a ‘team of five million’ in New Zealand
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, a global progressive icon, has been strikingly effective in coaxing New Zealanders to suspend their lives because of the coronavirus pandemic. (She even interviewed through an earthquake.)
As New Zealand prepares for an election in September, our Sydney bureau chief writes about Ms. Ardern’s leadership style, including her deft use of Facebook to relate to a population of five million that is “less saint and disciples, more friends or teammates.”
North Korea’s leader: President Kim Jong-un convened the country’s top military-governing body to outline “new policies for further increasing” its nuclear capacities and promoting weapons officials — the first public activity reported by the North’s state-run media in three weeks.
Snapshot: A famed family-owned circus in Italy, the Rony Roller Circus, has been sitting out the pandemic in a field outside Rome since March. “I miss the applause, the tent, the colors of the lights,” said Daniela Vassallo, part of the family. Above, Megan Vassallo, 13, practicing the aerial loop.
European football: By recruiting only local players, Athletic Bilbao has forged a unique identity that its fans embrace.
What we’re listening to: The “Terrible, Thanks for Asking” podcast. “This episode,” says Lance Booth, a photo editor, “is about a writer who becomes unemployed after landing her dream job, and the ever-revolving gate of unemployment.”
Now, a break from the news
Cook: Melissa Clark’s classic yellow cake is whisked in one bowl and frosted however you like (or smothered in strawberries and cream).
And now for the Back Story on …
A front page unlike any other
As the United States approaches 100,000 deaths from the coronavirus, our editors wanted to mark the grim milestone. So, instead of the articles, photographs or graphics that normally appear on the front page of The New York Times, on Sunday there’s just a list: a long, solemn list of people whose lives were lost to the coronavirus pandemic.
The names, nearly 1,000 of them, were gleaned from obituaries in hundreds of U.S. newspapers and conveyed both the vastness and the variety of lives lost.
“We knew we were approaching this milestone,” Simone Landon, assistant editor of the Graphics desk, told Times Insider. “We knew that there should be some way to try to reckon with that number.”
But Ms. Landon and her colleagues realized that “both among journalists and perhaps in the general reading public, there’s a little bit of a fatigue with the data.” Putting 100,000 dots or stick figures on a page “doesn’t really tell you very much about who these people were, the lives that they lived, what it means for us as a country,” Ms. Landon said. She came up with the idea to compile obituaries and death notices of Covid-19 victims from newspapers large and small across the country and selecting vivid passages from them.
“I wanted something that people would look back on in 100 years to understand the toll of what we’re living through,” Marc Lacey, the National editor, said.
That’s it for this briefing. For those celebrating, Eid Mubarak. See you next time.
— Isabella

Kacou 10: Woman’s ministry 1 I would like to preach on the subject: woman's ministry. First we notice that God created man on the sixth day and in the last place, and there was no woman. Then He rested on the seventh day, in which you must see years and years. Then seeing that the man was alone, God decided to make him a helpmate. If not, in the original plan, God had not found it necessary. That is why the good reading of Genesis 2:18 is: "And Jehovah Elohim said, It is not [too] good that man should be alone; I will make him a helpmate, his like." 2 So woman was not in the original plan of God but she is a by-product of man. Female dogs, hens and the other females are original creatures of God but it is not so with woman. That is why within each animal species, the mating takes place per period, contrarily to humans. And you will not see a dog mounting on a pregnant female. You see? Which is not the case with humans. Even an elderly woman who is already past menopause still has some sexual relations. You see? I can therefore say with respect that woman is the lowest in the creation. 3 And it is God Himself who has sovereignly placed her under the authority of man. Thus, when she is not under the authority of her father, she is placed under the authority of her husband. Her father or her husband has the right to cancel her vows. See Numbers 30 ... You see! And the Lord Jesus Christ did not come to abolish these things. 4 So we understand, in accordance with Genesis chapter 2, that woman was not there when God was giving the instructions to Adam in the Garden of Eden. There is a reason to that! She was not there when Adam was naming the animals, the birds and others! You see? God did all that so that woman may humbly recognise her place. 5 And speaking of her ministry, if a man has not come on earth to fulfill a mission like Judas Iscariot, he cannot admit a woman in the pulpit; and if you are not a goat, born to be seduced, you cannot sit to listen to a woman preach or lead songs when men are there! Even if she does it well, it is the devil that is behind. Nature itself teaches us that a woman is not carrier of seed. She can therefore not preach and bring eternal Life. And only one boy among a thousand of women makes the "they" feminine change into "they" masculine because of the authority of man. 6 A child of God cannot go against what God has established; even without the Holy Spirit, he will be disturbed. The Bible cannot contradict itself. If Jesus had established a woman apostle or disciple, then he would have not been the Messiah. If Paul allowed woman to preach then Paul would be false. No matter his miracles, they would be miracles of seduction. [Ed: The congregation says: “Amen!”]. 7 Woman's ministry and the marriage of homosexuals are the two biggest abominations of the end of times. And a person who enters into a church where women preach, it is like a person who takes part in a parade of homosexuals. 2000 years ago, mankind did not know that one day, homosexuals were going to parade in Jerusalem. 2000 years ago, mankind did not know that one day a woman, despite her menses, was going to preach before people in some churches. [Ed: The congregation says: “Amen!”]. 8 In the entire Old Testament, there was no woman priest. Even in the world, there was no woman minister. It is emancipation that has placed woman there! The feminine for "minister" did not exist. And we know that women came on the scene of the nations through emancipation. The first emancipated woman of the earth was Naamah, a daughter of Cain. And the first emancipated woman in Israel was Jezebel, a foreigner. But in the beginning, it was not so. And we have seen some women fighting for the right to vote in Europe and America but at the beginning in the Old Testament, in Israel for example, women were not counted. And in Africa, a woman cannot be a village chief. Even, in the villages, when men gather, women do not have the right to speak. 9 What God gave to the Jews in writing, He also gave it to the pagans in their heart! Is it you who taught the nations the dowry in the marriage, the first-fruits or to give the name of the father to the first son? And in case of serious sins or of alliances, to make blood sacrifices? It is God who did that! And that is how God also revealed the position of woman to them. Even with no teaching, they know for example that the original sin is a sexual act. With no teaching, a true son of God knows in his heart that sexual act is the sin that Adam and Eve had committed. But when they go to the churches, the devil takes that from them. And it is the same devil that places woman in the pulpit. 10 And I do not understand that people who have the Bible in their hand can act this way, placing women in the pulpit to preach or lead the worship songs while men are there. And it even happens that some women are with menses and wear some pads underneath them and come to stand in the pulpit. You who attend such churches, you have no conscience! You are sub-humans, you are descendants of the serpent, you are worse than Catholics and Muslims and you are seeking to evangelize them. If you are not pursuing another goal, you will not go and sit in such a church. Be it preaching or the songs, it is the same thing. Being guilty in part, it is to be guilty in all. [Ed: The congregation says, “Amen!”]. A woman must remain quiet in the church. Paul says that the fact that a woman must not preach in the church is a commandment. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 14:34 “Let your women be silent in the assemblies, for it is not permitted to them to speak; but to be in subjection, as the law also says”. You see? The law says that a woman cannot speak in the assembly. And there is no woman in the priesthood. 11 And in verse 37, speaking of the fact that woman must not speak in the assembly, Paul says that “If any one thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him recognise the things that I write to you, that it is the Lord's commandment.” [Ed: The congregation says, “Amen!”]. Paul says that the fact that a woman must not preach in a church, it is a commandment of the Lord. And if you have the Holy Spirit, if you are a son of God, you will not go against a commandment of the Lord. 12 And those evangelical leaders claim to have the Holy Spirit who tells them nothing, and yet the Bible says that when He has come, He will guide you into all the truth! If in the Old Testament, in the dispensation of Father, God did not consecrate a woman priest and if in the form of Son, He did not consecrate a woman apostle, I do not see why He will do it in the form of Holy Spirit as if He is not the same yesterday, today and forever. But know that any spirit that will accept or consecrate a woman for her to preach is not the Spirit of God! And whoever defends it has a demon and has never known the Word or the Spirit of God. [Ed: The congregation says, “Amen!”]. 13 Woman can do many things individually or collectively, but these tasks of authority are strictly reserved to men as soon as they are there. What is happening in churches is exactly the image of the emancipation of woman in homes, in public services and in politics, contrarily to the divine order. While there are unemployed fathers of families, there are women who abandon their homes and the education of their children in the hands of television and of a housemaid. The baby will not have the maternal warmth or the breast milk or the maternal education. What will such a child become? 14 The greatest misfortune of humanity was the emancipation of Eve and today again, it is the emancipation of woman and that is now transported to the church. 15 After Salvation, woman was the greatest blessing that God gave to man, but he preferred to worship her and give her his place in order that she may dominate over him. Exactly like money that should serve him has become his god. An advertisement or a newspaper exposing a naked woman has always deserved more considerations. On all the levels, Satan has always pushed woman to covet what God has not given her as if, giving birth, testifying like the Samaritan woman, sweeping the temple, cleaning benches, fasting and praying for the work like Hannah, prophesying or speaking in tongues according to Joel 2:28, is not the work of God. Even Phoebe in Romans 16:1-2 was recognized as being a servant of God for having assisted and provided shelter to some saints. And all the warnings of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 14:34-38 and 1 Timothy 2:11-15 fell on deaf ears, the sons of the devil have interpreted them in their own way in order to achieve their goals. You see? 16 And in this ministry like in the one of the Lord Jesus-Christ and in any authentic ministry, haven't we seen some servants of God? Don't the Sisters Ahou Prisca and Ange Cecile assist me? And when we needed to make contributions to produce the first edition of this book, was it not a sister who had given the most important contribution? And for the second edition, did not a sister put in my hands the amount needed for the entire edition? You see? Because they have good intentions and want to do something, God Himself gives them to do it. You see? Does the Bible not speak of Hannah, Phoebe, Tabitha, Susanna and others? ... 17 Does your Bible say in Proverbs 31 that the woman of worth is a priest? One day you will answer for all this before God! [Ed: The congregation says, “Amen!”]. 18 1Timothy 2:15 says that woman will be saved by getting married, by giving birth and by giving a good education to her children. Every woman will answer for the behaviour of her children at the judgment. God calls her to educate her children. And instead of thinking about these things, she covets the pulpit. Brother, this is witchcraft. And Tommy Osborn says that women can even baptise ... Such men, if they do not repent, will not regret to find themselves in hell. 19 And when they read Psalms 68:11, they leave the verse 12 so that the souls that they want to slaughter may not know that it is question of good news of war. Let's read 1 Samuel 18:6-7: they came out from all the cities ... You say: " O Brother Philippe, with us, they are only song leaders." Brother, it is the same thing! Show me a single passage of the Bible where a woman was established a song leader! Read Chronicles, Ezra and Nehemiah and come back to God! Read 2 Chronicles 35 and you will see that the song leaders were Levites, the sons of Asaph according to the commandment of David, and of Asaph, and of the prophets... 20 And how can a woman lay hands upon someone? Perhaps she has her menses, and if such is the case, even an Angel cannot deliver you. Especially since this can happen even at that moment. Labour pains and menstruation can come at any time, even because of an emotion or of any kind of situation. That is why the women who preach always wear some pads underneath them. A man who seats to listen to a woman preach, he is a sub-human, he is an animal. [Ed; the congregation says, “Amen!”] The Jews rejected the Messiah but a Jew will never allow a woman in the altar! Acknowledge that you do not worship and you do not serve the God of the Jews that Paul served. And a Muslim who leaves Islam to go to an evangelical church or other is a son of devil. [Ed: The congregation says: “Amen!”]. Let's go back to 1 Corinthians 14:34-38! And you sons and daughters of the devil, listen to what Paul said after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit: "Let your women be silent in the assemblies, for it is not permitted to them to speak; but to be in subjection, as the law also says. But if they wish to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is a shame for a woman to speak in assembly ... If any one thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him recognise the things that I write to you, that it is the Lord's commandment." [Ed: The congregation says, “Amen!”]. Paul says: "As the law also says!" and he says: "It is the Lord's commandment"...The fact that a woman must not preach in the church, it is the Lord's commandment as the law also says! You see? 21 For having accepted the five books of Moses, Muslims do not have any woman imam. And they are women who no longer have menses who go to the mosque and you want to evangelize them? So that your women in menses, having pads underneath them may lay their hands upon them? Sons of Cain! You be cursed! This is why God has put on their heart to hate you, you sons of sin and of perdition. 22 Read Acts 2:16 and you will see if Joel 2:28 is not fulfilled there! ... 23 But what does mankind want to prove to God? What do evangelical churches want to prove to God? That the woman that God minimizes is capable of many things? That woman is as efficient and intelligent as man? That a woman as priest, evangelist, apostle, pastor or song leader could have achieved her mission better than any man? She certainly can! But we, children of God, we oppose that, not by contempt or that she would be incapable in the eyes of men but because God did not give her to do it. [Ed: The congregation says, “Amen!”]. Let's read 1 Timothy 2:11-12 after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit: "... Let a woman learn in quietness in all subjection; but I do not suffer a woman to teach nor to exercise authority over man, but to be in quietness;" You see? If God has to enter in a church led by a woman, that woman must be thrown out, the pulpit must be thrown out and the church must be washed. Why? Because it is a cursed church. [Ed: The congregation says, “Amen!”]. God has never given to a woman to be a priest and no man of God can give this place to a woman. 24 And we are delighted that the Apostle Paul, Saint Martin, Columban, John Wesley, Martin Luther, William Branham and all the authentic servants that God has sent on the earth have never put a woman in the pulpit. Check throughout history and come and tell me that one man of God put a woman in the pulpit. Even before the 18th century, that never existed in all Christianity, even in the Catholicism! This has been the work of the emancipation and the evangelical churches. 25 And in this 20th century, a devil in a human form, whose name is Tommy Osborn went up to asking women to baptize ... Whoever who has seen Tommy Osborn, has seen Satan. [Ed: The congregation says, “Amen!”] 26 And after these Words, a child of God can only repent if he is not yet possessed by a demon. And I see the whole world possessed by unclean spirits, needing a greater power to deliver them. The world has already received what we will receive on the day of the rapture, they have the soul covered with fallen angels. It is no longer them who live, who think or who reason but the demon. Exactly like madmen. They are now prisoners of a power which have mastered them. This is like a coat of cloud covering them. It is not question of trying to explain well but to free them. You cannot reason a madman! You see? They simply have the faith and the will of the demon. 27 Each church has a demon that one can receive simply by believing the theology of that church or by letting its dignitaries lay hands upon him. That is why I forbid you from reading religious books, even if the content is true! The whole world is under the grip of divination, which makes them believe that they are in the truth with some prophecies and some speaking in tongues and some miracles, in order to accomplish what is said in 2 Thessalonians 2: ... according to the working of Satan in all power, signs and wonders of falsehood, in all deceit ... to them that perish, because they have not received the love of the truth that they might be saved. And for this reason God sends them a power of error, that they should believe what is false and that they should be condemned! 28 It is God Himself who according to Matthew 24:24 "raised up" these wandering stars which are Kacou Severin, Morris Cerullo, Tommy Osborn, Cecil Robeck, Reinhard Bonnke, Benny Hinn and others to try the inhabitants of the earth. How can people, churches that have different doctrines unite and that does not mean anything to you? Have you ever seen a flock in which there are sheep, oxen, goats, pigs, and all kinds of different animals ... and you call that love? When Tommy Osborn goes to a country, the Baptists, the Pentecostals, the Methodists, the assemblies of gods ... rejoice! 29 Can a Methodist pastor be pastor in the Foursquare or among the Adventists? Can a Methodist have the holy communion among the Baptists? What are you doing together then? If you all have the Holy Spirit then why these contradictions? Matthew, Mark, Luke and John having the Holy Spirit wrote the four Gospels of the Lord Jesus, did they contradict one another? [Ed: The congregation says “No!”]. 30 In the beginning was the Word and the children of God have been created by the Word, this is why they will recognize themselves through this Message which is the promise of God for their time. Even if it is forty people who have believed in the whole world, that is what God has reserved for Himself! 31 In the same way that the Catholics refused the reformation, it is in this way that the Branhamists have refused the midnight Cry to remain in the evening time and join the camp of the harlots. And before the Angel and the Lamb came down in the vision of 1993, there was an eclipse, I clearly saw a black ball in the place of the sun. And it is from the Heaven that they came and the earth was enlightened ... and I can say in a precise way that the evening time ended in 1993. [Ed: The congregation says, “Amen!”]. 32 And according to Revelation 4:7, we are in the age of the fourth living creature, the eagle that must rise above every falsehood, every theology, every spirit of seduction. And the Bible says that the eagles in that time will gather around the fresh Word. And wherever the pure Word is, there the elect will be gathered, the children of God according to Matthew 24:28. Amen! 33 Crows, carrion feeders, vultures, birds of prey ... do not fly high and so anything they find suits them. What interests them, it is something that can satisfy them. Whether the baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ or the Trinitarian one, women preachers or song leaders, ... they are fighting over the decay of theology and what the eagles have abandoned. 34 And after April 24th, 1993, in a vision, we were sitting in an examination room for the Advanced level test and the examiner was distributing the test-papers. I was saying in my heart: "But what am I doing here? I do not have a good school level, what am I going to write?” And later, it was said to me: ''The same way that Mary conceived miraculously, without knowing any man, the same way that Moses received in details what happened at the creation, you too, you have received the Words of eternal Life on this April 24, 1993 and it is decreed by God. At the appointed time, you will understand and you will teach what you did not learn in order that whoever believes has eternal Life''. [Ed: The congregation says, “Amen!”] 35 I have never attended a seminary or a bible training, I do not read the books of their Christian bookstores, but I received the knowledge of the Scriptures ... The only problem is that I do not have a good school level but the grace of God will prevail. And I believe that this work comes from God; that is why we can see some students, intellectuals, former church preachers and pastors sitting here... and one day, if God keeps me from the dragon, you will see magistrates of every order sitting among you because there are also some elect among them ... [Ed: The congregation says: “Amen!”]. 36 The Bible says in Revelation 12:14 that the two wings of the great eagle will be given to the small eagles to carry them far from the face of the serpent and we see the persecution that begins in verse 15. And at the same time, the devil also reveals himself as the serpent in the same verse, the spirit of divination, and the churches are full of it. 37 Whoever rejects the preaching of Matthew 25:6 can only receive the spirit of divination as holy spirit! And I have presented to you again, Jesus Christ, whom you are crucifying. And what you are doing means: "Let his blood be on us and on our children". There will be an attraction and the whole world will see it. 38 Well. The expression "go to meet him" is not correct because the Cry and the Bridegroom are One. That is why the Cry said "Behold" and not "There is". You must leave the abominations of the earth, that is to say the Catholic, Protestant, evangelical and Branhamist churches and come to Christ. You must reject these fetishes, these crucifixes and all that separates you from God and come to this Message. 39 To this day, we do not have anymore Louis Segond, King James, Ostervald, Semeur, Colombe bible versions, ... we have burned them. Remember that in the second vision, I was standing in the desert and the Word was descending from Heaven, carried on the Clouds of Heaven, which are the holy angels, like in the time of Moses in the desert ... If you are a child of God or if you have the Holy Spirit, you cannot stay far from that because the Bible says that wherever the Word is, there the eagles will be gathered. [Ed: The congregation say, “Amen”] 40 You brethren of Africa, of Asia, of Europe and of America! Maybe you were expecting the Message of Matthew 25:6 in your country, but God did it another way. Remember our Lord Jesus Christ! Being the high priest Melchisedec, the rabbis and the scribes saw that He should come from the tribe of Levi. But He came out of the tribe of Judah. Then, His Message and his works confirmed that it was Him the Messiah. And today, on the whole face of the earth, if you are a child of God, your place, it is here with the prophet of your time, Prophet Kacou Philippe. And he that has ears to hear, let him hear.
